Yeah Scott, it would make working on my car a much more pleasureable experience. My issue is that my garage floor is sloped pretty well and getting my car on stands is pretty stressful. I have been considering building a DIY version of the wheel "stands" that the tires would sit on. More like alignment rack type stands. Still have to get the car up there though! 1,400 seems pretty expensive for that thing, although I am sure the insurance they must carry is also very expensive.

Don't weld continuously. Do an inch, then move to another area of the panel. The goal is to not overheat the panel and warp it. Your going to need to do alot more cleanup if your using a wire feed system. If there is enough edge to work with you may even be better off "glueing" it on with panelbond. Hell, lotus uses it! They don't make jack for tires in 15 anymore unfortunately, 16s are going that way as well.
