  1. Alright, let me back up here a bit. My car has always been a bit of a dog in 3rd. I go through 1&2 VERY fast and 3rd just never felt right. Garrett even noticed it watching my car at the track. This is an RB25DET we are talking about here.. 2.5 liters. I have always had a compressor surge (or at least it sure sounds like it) in 3rd past about 1/2 throttle in the upper RPMs. I suspect this really has something to do with it. I have tried everything I can think of to eliminate this situation. I have messed with the tune a bit, changed to new I/C plumbing etc.. thinking it was a setup problem. I am now wondering if the t3/t04e 60 trim .63ar exhaust housing is just a poorly sized turbo.... I do spin this motor to 7800 btw. Boost level doesn't matter either. I run a tial external gate and an HKS boost controller, I had a greddy and it did the same thing. I have this situation from 14 psi spring pressure all the way to 25psi. I really want to get this solved, can anyone shed ANY light? Thanks.
  2. Thats terrible news. RIP brother.
  3. Aux, I have a spare. PM me with an offer. Evan
  4. Watch craigslist like a hawk, I have seen full lincoln setups with tanks go for 350! Hell I bought my hobart (old unit) and it works freaking great, for $75. You have to remember you will need to go get tanks and welding gas. That stuff adds up. If you buy a decent welder, odds are its the last one you will own. Save up if you have to, a couple hundred over your budget to buy something really nice to work with will make your life easier and the learning curve easier. Evan
  5. Pretty awesome man, what a beautiful place.
  6. Honestly, I am willing to bet there are many 3pc wheels on the road that have never been taken apart! IE 20+ years old.
  7. I know absolutely nobody who does that kind of periodic maintenance.
  8. I don't know why you would need to service 3pc wheels regularly... Its not a big deal to take them apart etc.. but it is a hassle that is for sure! IMO, go for it, and dont sweat the maintenance.
  9. The RB25DET does not look like the quest sensor unfortunately. Evan
  10. 1/8" plate? Oh hell yes! I didn't see an identical one on ebay, mind getting a link for me? thanks! Evan
  11. You have described very well why I only have one car now, when I had my project it rarely got driven and I wrenched constantly. Having it as a daily forces me to reevaluate what I am doing. I don't have the resources to support a 2nd car either. Hang onto your current ride, sounds like your getting bored though. Evan
  12. What the hell are you talking about? haha. Must be some NZ jargon going on there.
  13. Looks great, did you cut those circles with that shear? Impressive. The only thing I can cut a decent circle with is a router and a circle jig LOL. I prefer the acorns.
  14. too cool man, did you have any luck getting ahold of jim about that cracked RB head? Going to be watching this, been a long time since anything like this interested me. Evan
  15. Yasin, bolt a large piece of metal to the underside of the area you want to cut then use a hole saw offset to the original hole to create your "slot" the piece underneath will keep your holesaw turning true. Use a holesaw that is a hair smaller so you can file it out to make for a nicer finish. Evan
  16. Garrett GT3582R turbo w/ .70 compressor housing & 1.06 turbine housing- $700 My buddy has this f/s let me know if your interested and I can forward contact information. Evan
  17. The only z31 trans that will work with the bellhousing swap is a late z31 turbo trans.
  18. Ray, there are lots of ebay vendors selling reinforced couplers which I have had great luck with.
  19. If your cutting thick enough metal a jigsaw and a high quality blade does a great job at contours. Clean it up with a grinder of some sort.
  20. You should consider posting this over on nico and 240sx forums. If I were local and had a stock S14 I would trade in a heartbeat.
  21. Beck, James has kind of "moved on" from the z community. There are a lot of other good vendors and fabbers on hybridz now though, so what are you looking for?
  22. I have the exact same thing setup for a catch can for my PCV system. I like it though, looks great! Evan
  23. Having both wheels turn forward does not make for an LSD. If you put it in neutral and roll one wheel forward the other one should do the same... for both sides. Lots of power to be had by tuning.
