  1. I tried to find someone who has done this to no avail. I have a G35 6 speed sitting in the shed and would love to try it behind my L6. From what I can tell the same thing would have to be done for this trans that was done for the Z32 trans. Adapter plate and bellhousing machining. I'll wait for someone else to do the dirty work before attempting to use mine. Joe
  2. Bringing this post back to life, how are you guy's getting idle AFR's in the 14's?? If I go any leaner than 13.8 it's starts doing the lean buck and surge. Since my car is a turbo car I'm more interested in John's setup. My combination is close as I'm using the same injectors, turbo specs, and displacement (although I'm using a diesel crank) but I do have a higher static compression ratio at 8.5-1.
  3. Jeff, I feel better now. I thought you were saying I didn't understand what I was doing which would have put me back into that gray area I've been in for about 4 years. Getting back to what I'm doing now, I have turned off the EGO correction all together. I want to get the TOG set so I can get as close to 11.5 WOT at 10 lbs as I can, adjust IOT so it will idle and I can continue, go back out and test WOT again. If I can maintain 11.5 or so I up the boost a few lbs and check WOT again and the whole process starts over again. It's time consuming but I figure I won't break anything by doing it this way and once I turn on the correction it can only make things that much better. Also, the only 2 points I'm actually working on by doing things like this is WOT and idle. 11.5 for WOT and 13.7 for idle. The 13.7 seems to be rich compared to other maps I've seen (yours being one of them) but my car won't idle worth a crap if I go much leaner. Joel, Still using the TEC II. I figured why would I want to double my pain with a map that is twice as large if I can't figure out the smaller one . As for the guys that know, I don't think it's a matter of not wanting to share but more of a frustration factor when you don't get what they are saying. Ever try to teach something that you know like the back of your hand to someone that doesn't know what a hand looks like? My problem is I've never been around someone that knows what they are doing. I learn much faster by seeing how things are done. Unfortunately I haven't found anyone in my neck of the woods that really knows the the TEC. I'm really counting on getting the car to the convention to watch one of the masters at work. Shiv's list was great. And I haven't been able to find anything like it since. Looks like we need to revive a list for us "Inliners". Joe
  4. MONZTER, Great links! I used to be on Shiv's forums a lot. What part of my post are you not agreeing with? I agree that the TOG and IOT are tied together. There still has to be somewhere to start tuning after your initial injector settings. I still say TOG goes first and IOT after you have figured out what TOG works well at WOT. This seems to be working for me and it's the first time I am actually understanding what changes are going to have what effect. I'll try other suggestions as I'm pretty confident that I can duplicate what I've been doing lately. Joe
  5. Drag? How bad? With the wheels off the ground can you turn them by hand?
  6. It sounds to me you are not seated inside the pump. Take the shaft and put it into the pump before trying to insert it into the front cover. Your going to have to spin the shaft so it falls into the slot in the pump. Once engaged, the drive gear will be all the way down on the pump. You cannot get the shaft to turn by the crank if the pump is not installed. Joe
  7. I think I'm finally starting to understand how the TEC is supposed to be tuned. Can anyone tell me if I'm right or wrong? What I think needs to be done is to concentrate on the TOG setting first and get the engine to do a full pull at WOT and get the AFR's where you want them, 11.5-1 or so on a turbo L6 from what I am reading. When you get the TOG set, you then turn your attention to the IOT setting, manipulating this setting to get the engine to idle with a resonable AFR My car likes 13.5,7-1. Once those 2 are set you can record a few log files to create your VE table. Do I have it? Am I close? I'm getting tired of paying for tuning sessions where the "tuner" keeps asking me how to make changes and I leave with the car no better than it was before but my pocket much lighter. Joe
  8. Hmmm......more upgrades for me?
  9. Always looking for an LSD. PM me what your looking to get for it. Joe
  10. Did you speak with Ken? I know he has had a few custom grinds made. You should ask him what the outcome for each was. Joe
  11. Yes, the mechanical pump. The diaphram is the only thing seperating fuel from the oil. put a pinhole in the diaphram and the gas will end up in the oil.
  12. Change the fuel pump. It's a common symptom. Joe
  13. I'd do E-town. Anyone else up for it?
  14. Sr-FairladyZ, I also have to see that SR powered Z in person! What is the longest distance you'd take it? Joe
  15. So who else besides me and Clive from this group are planning to drive down to the convention?
  16. Pete, Is this on your silver car or the race car? Are you driving your silver car to the convention? Forget that. I see from John's comment your talking about the race car. Joe
  17. I probably won't be there for the whole meet but I should be able to get there for some of it. Family commitments, ya know! Clive, PM me your cell in case I get there after you guys are already under way. Joe
  18. Something doesn't sound right. Can you post some pictures and list your mods?
  19. What shaft are you breaking, the CV shaft or the stub axle? Joe
  20. First time I was at NHIS I had street pads also. Cooked them so bad they started to chunk. When I completely lost braking from boiling fluid and hit nothing but floor at the end of the straight before the oval, I called it a day and replaced the stockers with a set of Hawks. Sorry I didn't see your post sooner. Joe
  21. No problem. I'll check on the part number of the wiring harness when I pick it up. From the pictures the dash is either a 72 or 73.
  22. Clive, Since I sold the white 72 this will be a spare. I just had to give it a shot since the guy who sold me mine is contstantly reminding me how cheap I got it for. Wait until he hears about this one!
  23. I got it?? Holy crap, I got it!! Guess I'm driving out to York this weekend. This is $50 cheaper than the dash I got 5 years ago!
  24. So if Nissan did the same thing that Del West did, the alloy's used for Intake and Exhaust seats will be different and the Exhaust seat will transfer heat better than the Intake. That could explain why the Intake seats come loose. Joe
  25. I thought that too but there is something that doesn't make any sense to me. The exhaust side would feel the burden of the increased temps before the intake would and it was an intake seat that fell. I'm not saying it wasn't caused by the heat I just want to understand why. Joe
