  1. Supercharged 5.4 rated at 540 hp (I think that's the right number). It's a lot of power, but I hate the way ford has to used forced induction as a means of increasing power. All the more reason for me to respect the LS-1
  2. Here’s a new one – this one is from the attacks of 9/11; specifically the one on the Pentagon. I’ve heard that it may have been a cover up because the gov’t doesn’t want the public to know that we are vulnerable to missile attacks from inside our country. Take a look: http://pixla.px.cz/pentagon.swf
  3. Those headlights are from the current generation Celica.
  4. Thanks for the replies. Yes, it is just a nut and washer holding it in, but from what I’ve worked on at the shop that’s a pretty standard setup for serpentine pulleys. Both pulleys have about the same diameter hole in the middle. What I ended up doing was just going back to one of the alternator shops to pick up a V-pulley to match the serpentine pulley as close as I could. I found one that was almost perfect, so I took it to the machine shop and hopefully tomorrow it should be ready. There wasn’t a keyway on it so it should’ve been easier on the equipment. I have custom brackets to mount the alternator, so if the pulley isn’t lined up I can either shim it down, bend it, or just create another one. And yes, I feel that I do need a large alternator because: A) I have dual electric fans that pull a TON of current (my cigarette lighter only gets about 11 volts when the car is between 800 – 1600 rpms. I will be installing an amp and subs in the future – not anything huge, just a pair of 10”s and perhaps a 400W amp. I don’t feel like watching my headlines dim to the beat of the music at night. C) I run a lot of electric accessories. I think the 90 amp alternator would’ve been easier (especially on the wallet), but I wanted the peace of mind. I’ll let you know how it goes.
  5. LOL!! Thanks Wagz, I can see it now!
  6. Man I must be blind – I still can’t find anything Oh well, guess I'll just have to leave it up to the imagination.
  7. What am I missing? I don’t see anything in the third pic?!?
  8. Okay, here’s my dilemma. I bought the ’95 Maxima 125 alternator, and after searching through the archives and gathering up all of the information I could (mostly from Nismo280zEd’s write-ups because they seemed to be the most informative), I was positive the pulley swap would be pretty easy. So, I bought the alternator and found out that the Maxima shaft is much shorter than I expected. I took the alternators to three alternator shops with all of them giving me the same answer – “It can’t be done.” I’m just trying to figure out why this one is different than anyone else’s. Here, you can see how much shaft I have to work with from the Maxima alternator. The V-pulley I was trying to use came from an early ’77 280z. Here you can see what the V-pulley looks like on the Maxima alternator without any kind of spacer (washers/bearings/bushings/etc.) behind it. To me, it seems like my only option would be to take the V-pulley (right) to the machine shop and have him machine down (just kind of bore out the middle, but not bore it all the way through) the inside of it in order to match the Maxima pulley’s (left) specs. I haven’t heard anybody else resolving this problem by taking their pulley to the machine shop, so if you can see what I’m doing wrong or what I need to do to fix this, please let me know. I’m going to be moving to another city this weekend and I’d rather drive my car than try to find somebody who can tow it, and as stated above, I searched thoroughly through the archives without being able to find the information I needed. Thanks for the help.
  9. One thing that’s hurt me when using the search function is that I didn’t include the correct word in the search box. For example, a while back I was searching through the archives trying to find what kind of luck other people had with their camshafts and if somebody else had a formula for choosing the correct one for your setup, but when I searched for it I couldn’t really find any answers to my question. So, I decided to create my own post asking the question and I received negative feedback and suggestions to go search again when I already had. The trick was that I didn’t put in the search box “cam combo”, which would’ve given me the correct results. I was just using things like “cam selection”, “cam results”, and so on. I’m not saying this is a fault of the search function by any means, I’m just trying to help justify and perhaps add some perspective into why some of the newbie’s posts are so repetitive. Although, I do hate those “I JUST BOUGHT A 1982 240Z HOW BIG OF A ENGINE CAN I PUT IN THERE SO I CAN BEAT RICERS LOL!!!11” posts.
  10. When I installed my bumper, I had the same problem as you. I think there’s a fitting problem with just about all of MSA’s fiberglass (from what I’ve read), so here’s what I did. I opened up the hood until it was resting on the bumper, and then I took a marker and traced/outlined where the hood was hitting the bumper. Then, I took the bumper off and sanded it down until I couldn’t see the line any more. Now, there’s no more problems, and you can’t even tell I had to sand it. I didn’t have to take off much, so it’s nothing drastic. Hope this helps
  11. I have a portable Sony cd player that reads ATRAC files. Basically, it’s just software that was included with the player and it takes an mp3 and compresses it even more (I’m assuming) to allow a LOT of songs on one cd. I can literally listen to one cd for 24 hours and not have one song repeat. One disc has 365 songs on it and it wasn’t even full yet! But anyways, glad to hear you finally discovered the mp3
  12. What’s with a cowl hood on the trunk (Fiero)? I like the rims though.
  13. It was an old picture that came off of http://www.s130.net . Sorry, those are the only pics of that 2+2 I could find.
  14. I mean, sure, the body lines aren't as smooth and sexy as an S30, but they still can look pretty good. Let’s not forget that the S130 aerodynamics are substantially better than the S30. I know this has been going on for a while, but it was RCNSC’s posts that triggered me into posting this. Included are some random pictures off of the net of some impressive (IMO) S130s. If one of these cars are yours and it offends you that I’m using it, please PM me and I’ll remove it: A couple of nice S130s found in Japan: This one has over 600hp and hits well over 200 mph: Here’s one with a modified Aero Kit II: The owner of this one did some other fiberglass modifications to it: A clean 280zx with sidepipes: Let’s not forget some on this forum: Guy’s (80lt1) 280zx, for one, is a good example of an s130 Icice9's 280zx: And, you know I wouldn’t be going off on this topic if I didn’t have one, so here’s a recent pic of mine: Of course, I know mine doesn’t really look that good right now – it has about 4 different colors on it, the bodywork isn’t anywhere near finished yet, and I haven’t done my headlight conversion yet. If you still think that the S130 is ugly, then you need to go in for a noggin check
  15. IMO, it’s too ricey for me. The front fascia is too aggressive (just seems kinda over-exaggerated), I don’t really care for the rear wing, the taillights would look good if they blended into the body (not just a clear housing) but other than that I think it’d be interesting to see. I like the flares and the new headlight/blinker configuration, and I think the hood looks pretty decent. Thanks for putting this on an S130 – it’s always good to see a little more options for that body style. Here are a couple of 280zxs I think you would appreciate: A 2+2: And a widebody:
  16. Commando starring Ahnuld has a lot of Z's There's also a zx (I think) on Speed, but it takes a turn for the worst
  17. Just to relate to you, about 3 months ago I ordered an outer tie rod end and made sure to emphasize it was for an "'82 280ZX TURBO" and after a month passed by, the package finally arrived -- after I opened it up, I was kinda puzzled as to why those parts look so different. I checked the invoice and what do ya know! "Outer Tie Rod '81 280zx N/A". So, I called them and told them about the situation, and the guy that I talked to just told me to send it back with the return number that he gave me, and it would cost me an extra $10 for it, both tie rods are the same price in their catalog, so WTF?? Oh yeah, I'm still waiting on it to come in. Good luck with it man.
  18. I'm glad to hear that. I figured you'd change your mind after you'd sober up a bit
  19. Yup, one day at work my buddy was working under a car and the chain that was holding up the lift snapped – luckily those safety locks were there, because he would’ve been squashed. He had to go change his pants after that…
  20. She needs to be modeling for someone else! If she'd do that for a Honduh, maybe I could get her in a bikini for my Z...err maybe that bikini would look better on the ground next to the Z Great, now you've got me all wound up
  21. Hey man, you can always put it in storage That stinks, I was planning a trip to Cedar Park some time this month and I was gonna swing by your place with my hybrid so I can see what a painted one looks like in person . Well, good luck selling it...you know, that Z bug has been getting a hold of me lately, and your Z is lookin' pretty good; I just might have to review my budget
  22. Man, just make sure you don’t get too caught up in everything. A job, bills, schools, and three project cars. I bought my ’77 about two years ago, and last September I came across a 280zx that I couldn’t pass up, so the hybrid project began. Now I’m left with two cars nowhere close to finish. The L28 from the ’77 just got put back in the engine bay last week, and the 355 in the 280zx is always needing some kind of tweaking, or hoses replaced, or belts replaced, or a new slave cylinder, or a new… Anyways man, just be careful.
  23. Well, it looks like I’ll be going with the LM-1. It seems like the best bang for the buck, everybody here likes it, and plus, their customer support forum rules!! Thank you all for the help and suggestions.
  24. This should be in your general area: MJP I haven’t heard any complaints about his products, and they seem to be set at a fair price. Plus, he even has the G-nose for the zx!!! We can’t even get that here in the states…well, not without custom fabrication. Oh, and to answer the original question, here’s a pic of my zx, but the sideskirts were just stuck on there for the pic. They haven’t been molded on yet, but you can get a decent picture of it:
  25. Usually, the reason why I pass the higher pickups and SUVs is because I’m usually having to dodge rocks being flung at me from them (the H2 Hummer is the worst!). When I pass them, I don’t slow down, but I don’t speed off either, I just basically switch places. Also, for the people that speed by me (known as the “rabbit” to me) I usually match their speed, but stay a few car lengths back behind them. Reason being is that if a cop happens to be going the other way, he’ll clock them first, I’ll pick it up on the radar detector, and have more of a chance of survival than the car in front. Plus I won’t feel guilty if they were pulled over because I never influenced their driving
