  1. At least his legs don't look broken
  2. Also check the seals around the tail lights
  3. If it's backfiring through the carb, I would say you are 180* off with your magneto.
  4. I did, but I replaced it with a Vintage Air (heat/cool/defrost) unit.
  5. What's that convertible in the background? Looks like an Impala.
  6. That's weird, You have a vacuum leak at the head. The only thing I can think of is one or more valves are sticking open.
  7. A Chevy Nova II with a V8 weighs around 2800lbs, with the two people in it, that would be 3180lbs. Now your car at 2370 + yourself is 2645lbs. So the Nova weighed 535 lbs more than yours at the time of the race, that is quite alot. He didn't have much more HP than your's and with that much of a weight disadvantage, it's no wonder you won.
  8. I used the clutch, and flywheel form Centerforce. Check their website or call them for your setup.
  9. Here is a list of Colorado dynojet dynos form their site: http://www.dynojet.com/maps/autodynos/co.htm
  10. Your NAPA store sucks! The one near me has it all, and can referece part numbers. It has US, metric, and combos - metric on one side US on the other. I used some of these on my car. Oh well, at least you found your part
  11. Depends on the engine you want. Do you want an early SBC, or an LT1, or an LS1?
  12. A 240Z driveshaft will not be a bolt in. These V8 Zs need to have custom drivshafts. JTR has a diff flange part # DAT-110 "The driveshaft flange bolts to the Z Car differential and uses a Dana #1310 U-joint, which was commonly used on most Chevrolets in the 1960s and through the early 1970s. The pilot diameter on the flange is 2.25 inches in diameter. All 1970-1978 Z Cars came with the 2.25" pilot diameter. Later (ZX) cars came with either a 2.25" or 2.00" pilot diameter. If the differential has the 2.00" pilot, the pinion flange will need to be changed to one with a 2.25" pilot." https://shell7.tdl.com/~jags/Pages/Parts_DAT200.html

  15. That's the cost of learning form your mistakes!!
  16. It depends on the tranny, If you are putting in a T56 by yourself, you are not going to put that thing on your belly, it's way to heavy ! I tilt the rear of the engine down a bit, so you can lift the rear of the tranny up to help align it in. Did you check the pilot bearing to make sure it's in good shape?
  17. I have 295-50-15s with 10" rims under the stock rear fenders, it handles great! I also have a shortened 12 bolt Chevy http://327-240z.freeservers.com
  18. Do you have a fuel filter before the pump? If not do that. I burned out a efi pump because of not having a fuel filter before the pump.
  19. Some of these are too funny!! I had a doberman that was attack trained, when I would see j witness come to the door, I would bring her with me and hold her collar. When I twist her collar a certain way she would go into this all teeth, and spit growl/bark that would send them running!!
  20. I agree with Tony D! I'm a V8 Z guy, but this car is in so nice a condition you could easily sell it for way more than you bought it. That extra money will bankroll your project.
