  1. Updates since I posted this so long ago. Car is 90% or more completed. It has been on the road since August 2005 and I have driven and enjoyed it for about 10K miles. Can now has a Q45 VLSD with MMS adapters, MMS 13" big Brake Kit, New NOS Dash with speedhut EL lighted stock gauges, Vintage Air AC/Heat system, Leather Recaro Seats and 16" x 7" Panasports. I have had it on a dyno and it made 340RWHP and 365 RWT. I have run it down the 1/4 mile track 2 times. Both runs were tracktion limited and I ran a 12.88 at 109mph. I have done 7 track days with the car and it has performed fantastic. The car is extremely reliable and also gets great fuel mileage. I got 30+ Miles per gallon on a 900 mile trip. I love my LS1 powered Z car. This is the way Datsun should have made them. Studio Photo from the 2007 Z convention
  2. If you want the FI tank from a 280Z that will almost bolt into a 240Z, you need the tank from a 1975 or 1976 280Z. Then you need to use the 280Z mounting straps or get longer bolts for the 240Z straps. The 77 and 78 280Z tank is a different design. I have a 76 280Z tank in my 240Z too.
  3. No problem. You sound like you have been doing your homework. I should have made it clear as to which car I was offering. Best of luck in your search for a Z car. Take your time, It will pay off in the end. I looked at over 20 cars and it took almost 2 years for me to find mine. Happy Holidays,
  4. Thank you!! I am not trying to actively sell it. I have given some thought to it over the past year but I am still attached to her. I am fortunate that I am not in a position where I need to sell it as the economy is not well suited for "toys" right now. Also, You can't compare a Collectible 240Z to a mass produced 350Z. These days, 350Z are very plentiful and many people have them and lots of them are for sale, modified or not. 240Z are much more rare and very collectible and there are still buyers out there with cash even in a challenged economy. As to the 600% increase, the original poster is a newbie here and from what he wrote in his post, I was not sure if he was looking for a really nice LS1 powered car or not so when he came back with " Depends on what the car has done to it and the condition. A stock, in good condition Z, probably around $5000. If it has some parts in it, maybe a bit more. If that's laughable, let me know and I can adjust it. I don't think it's an entirely unreasonable amount though." If he had even glanced at the pictures in my signature or Avatar or had a real grasp of the Z car market, he would certainly know that it would not be a $5000 car. Good LS1 motors are still selling for $3000 alone. So after I read that, I was just trying to be nice about readjusting his offer. It was obvious that my car was going to be way out of his budget. Happy Holidays,
  5. It would certainly need to many times the $5000 mentioned. If you look at the work that was done, the quailty of the car, and just the cost of the parts to build it, you would see that it would cost $35K -$40K to build another one like it. The car when I got it was close to $10K before the engine swap, brakes, suspension, stereo, interior, A/C , etc. And it was a clean lightly modified 240Z. And that was in 2003. I would like to see a 240Z as clean as mine in stock condition for $5K. I would buy as many of them as I could find at that price. (not joking so sned them my way) I would entertain serious offers over $30K. Or a bit less cash and a trade might be a possiblilty too.
  6. Check out my Photo Album and my Cardomain site. The readjust your $$ a good bit. http://album.hybridz.org/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=9509 http://www.cardomain.com/ride/626930
  7. Great tip Dave, I am getting ready to paint my 510 engine bay for a VG30 swap so this will come in handy
  8. I might be willing to part with mine. How much is in your budget?
  9. Sounds like a nice project. Great price for the motor too. My LS1 240Z weighs 2650. I added subframe connectors, big brakes, bigger wheels and tires, etc. Lightweight wasn't a big consideration when I built it. Can you share how you plan to get the car to be that light?
  10. I put mine under the passenger seat. Had the harness custom made by speartech.
  11. There is this one up in Nova Scotia: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=127169
  12. Impressive numbers for a stock motor. I am surprised at the torque curve though. On my LS1 the torque curve was very flat from 1500rpms up.
  13. Happy Birthday Clive! Hope its a great one.
  14. I didn't cut off any strap on my 240Z. Only the ears. What Strap??
  15. Sounds like plastic drywall anchors. Do they look like this??
  16. The owner should be forced to sell all of his cars for $1 each (to me) and then be made to drive a school bus (or a Yugo)for the rest of his life.
  17. Nice Fairlady, Clive! Good Luck! Good plans for the wagon. L20B is good power for a wagon. Clive said: "Plan on posting about yours?" Well now that you spilled the beans. Here it is: 1972 Wagon. 88,000 mile Stock Survivor. Not perfect but very straight and original. Will post more once I have it home. It is on it's way.
  18. Glad you got it home safely Clive. Looks pretty straight. We need more pics. I like the rear engine Cadi swap mentioned in this thread. That would be cool. Then you would have the power to use the wagon as a tow vehicle for your Race car's trailer.
  19. Glad to hear that you got it back. It looks really nice. What motor is that sitting there? What are your plans for suspension and brakes? There is a 510 forum called the510realm and also a 510 internet email list called the bluebirds list. Lots of good 510 info at both places. PM me for more info. I have 2 510s and I love them. I don't know what it is like to live without a 510. I have always had at least one since 1987. Good luck with it and keep the updates coming.
  20. I was trying to think of what to say but you said it all!
  21. I am interested in the front struts/brakes. Will you ship? PM me.
  22. Glad I installed that 75 280Z tank in my car. 17.25 gallons. Wow!. I can go 500 miles on one tank but I never have.
  23. German Parking Garage This is pretty amazing! Can you imagine how all this operates? How do they lock each car in its cubicle for safety? WHO CARES. NO ONE IN THEIR RIGHT MIND COULD GET IN THERE. Talk about German efficiency! The two photos below were taken at a new parking garage in Munich . The actual space that the facility occupies is approximately only 20% of a comparable facility with the traditional design that is used primarily in the US . Not only is the German structure less expensive to build, but vehicles are also 'retrieved' in less time and without the potential of being damaged by an attendant.
