I had to buy a new hood, After looking at every different hood I desided I wanted a 2" cowl induction hood. Well to go and buy one, it looks like they run about $500 plus shipping. I found a beat cowl hood with a 3" lift, I picked it up for $200 plus $140 to have it shipped. I have put 15 hours into it so far and it needs 6 more. If I had realized how much work it needed I would have but a new one... Also the 3" lift makes it look inmature. I don't much like it and may just sell it later and buy what I want.... So if you are thinking about 2" I would buy one and I know another guy here that said he was going to buy one also, so thats 2...

Poor france... even google mocks them....

Hey that was good! It surprising how fast a man can take a disliking to a nation. Its easy to understand how at war one country can grow to hate another so much. Compound what happen with Iraq and few times and we would be going at it with the french.. -
Yes, looks very nice, when do u think it will be running?

Metallicar, Whats the details to ship Grey hound? I'm guessing you take it to the bus station and than have to pick it up at a local bus station? I shipped a cowl induction hood UPS. Cost $140.00 Had to rap it tight with cardboard to meet the size requirements. It came with no damage. It was used and if had been damaged I would not had mattered to me... So for what its worth, if this route saves you $100 in trucking fees it worth it to me to have to fix a corner maybe.... But this Greyhound idea sounds pretty good!

Datsun Lover, As for the easy of removing the dash, I removed mine from my 78 and it was simple. No problem finding the screws. You must first remove the steering wheel, and I did have my windshild out so I don't know how hard it would have been to get the screws out where the glass and dash meet. But Im guessing it would still have been simple. As for the wiring I had to unplug a couple things like the light in the ash tray. But the rest of the wiring unpluged in big square connectors. Good Luck

Dave, I will be installing my LT1/T56 in my 78 280Z next week. U mind telling me what problems you ran in to? Im thinking about borrowing the adjustable do hicky that lets you tip the motor up and down as you lower it into the engine bay, do you think its worth the effort of borrowing it? and did you have to work up the transmission tunnel to get it to fit??? I was thinking about removing the headers before I install it would you agree?? Thanks Terry

I emailed Dave and informed him I would like to buy a cowl hood. I stated that I just received one sent UPS for $140. Would he sell me one and how much? He sends a reply: $329 for the 2" cowl hood. Dave I don't get it? does he mean $329 to my door? I dont think so... What ever..... From what I have read I don't think I want to risk the hassle... -

JTR engine not even...??
love-my-V8-280Z replied to 72zcar's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Tim, I too had a heck of a time due to the miss print, I even think I posted a remark to it. But I dont have my JTR book here in front of me, but I quick ran out and checked my motor because its ready to go in, anyway I have spacer than plate than mount on the passanger side but I have the plate than the spacer (wide) than the mount on the drivers side, it seems to me that is what I saw in the JTR book, I thought it odd but wanted to follow the book. Maybe I remember wrong but I don't see how it will matter.. What do you think?? Terry -
You will regret trying to work on your car and drive it I promise. once you get started it never goes as planed. My dad always said if you think it will take 4 hours give it 8... There is no way,,,, I had to weld my frame rails, I had carpet burning.... than it looked like crap so I fiberglassed over the new metal... I too am an inexperenced welder... Its turning out, but if you want a good job take your time and do it right.

welding, piping tools, and etc info on what tools to get...
love-my-V8-280Z replied to a topic in Miscellaneous Tech
You may even consider taking a part time job at a muffler shop. They pay so little I would think it would not be to hard to bug one of them into hiring you. This way also you could find out if this is what you want to do for a living,, -

love-my-V8-280Z replied to Corzette's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Terry, I have 15" rims, I have read many times 235 are about max in tire width. How did you get 275 on your ride??? I will put as much spacer in as I need to get the max in width., If you did not do any mods can you explain how you got such a wide tire into the wheel well with out rubbing? Any chance you have any pics?? I sure need to know... Thanks again -
READY FOR THE DRAG STRIP TONIGHT...TECH INFO
love-my-V8-280Z replied to Corzette's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Terry, I'm working a LT1 into my 78 and figure my biggest problem is going to be not spinning the tires. Are you in the 12's with stock tires? Am I going to be able to get into the 13's with stock tires you think? And reguarding stock tires, I mean tire that I will be able to fit with no body mods. Thanks...
