  1. I live in the High Desert part of Ca. We get some pretty big wind blowing this way from the southern L.A. area. The El Cajon pass I am told is now closed and parts of the Big Bear area are now burning as well. This wind is defintely not helping anything.
  2. When I had my BNR32 and then later my 72 GTX I only needed to get the Kai stamp on the registration after I added the roll cages or overfenders. Only other reasons I can remember are for engine size changes or adding of a turbo. I ran triple carbs, L28, header, cage and overfenders on my GTX all with a Kai stamp with no hassles or problems.
  3. Sounds like you got the tire sizing all worked out. I like using the BF Goodrich Radial t/a tires. I use a 295/60/16 for the rears and a 235/60/15 for the front. 10.5 jj rear and 9.5 j fronts. I like the way the tire looks on the rims and the wheels fill out the overfenders to say the least. BF tires haven't let me down yet. Although I never tried racing in them.
  4. Thanks to Spacecase I was able to get my hands on a repairable 1 piece Gnose. I also have had a works ovefender kit in storage just for this occasion. I updated my gallery this a couple of quick pics this morning if anyone is interested. Body kit was purchased from Yahoo Auctions. Now I am looking for hinges. COuple possibilities but nothing concrete yet...Would concentrate on this more today but Dallas is getting ready to play New England.
  5. Starting point of the gnose, works overfender makeover.
  6. I hope to get a g-nose this weekend. I have a copy of the Works body kit already. Yahoo auctions and I are real close friends. Body kit does not even remotely come close to fitting in the front without the g-nose belly pan. Now if I can only find the damn hinges....Post pics of that 4dr when you get it. The pic looked like a 72 (47) model based on the grille and front fender lights. Same year as mine. Cool
  7. One of my screen saver pics is of a 4dr with a huge forward facing hood scoop with a tubbed rear end, racing down a straight line track and whooping up on a fullsize chevy. I have often wondered if the Z V8 kits would work. If you are going to try this I would definitely try it on a 4 dr. More room for making things fit.
  8. Definitely like the 2dr option in the second link. I like not having a GTR. GTR's are too expensive. I refuse to put GTR emblems on mine. I like having power windows and an L31. Back to your question. I really like the stock GTR sized overfender being blended into the car. Sharp looking and think you should have already bought the car and post pics soon.
  9. I am hoping someone will contact me over this weekend. I do not have enough space for another project. I am willing to even give up my front end so that the other party has a complete car. Check my gallery. Nice aftermarket spoiler for the 240z.
  10. I am willing to go in for half with someone if I can get the g-nose. How about it? Anybody interested in an actual 240z with a wide body and a V-8 for $500.Seriously PM me
  11. I got my cradle from Alex at Vildini just a couple days after ordering it. Price was $350 shipped to my door in 2 days. I have yet to drop my motor on it but that should be remedied Monday.
  12. Pete, Wanted to make sure you received my payment. Also is it possible to have my panels to me before Oct 6. I have another business trip I have to do and would like to have this wrapped up before I am gone for a while.
  13. I am not partial to 2 tones but that may change after seeing your car. Pretty sharp
  14. Looks like I will be getting back early....So looking forward to getting these going for me...
  15. I have received confirmation from Pete. He is able to make a mold from the panels I sent him. Cross of the fingers these should get knocked out faster due to simplicity.
  16. Glad to see another old school skyline member who is working on there car and not pipe dreaming. Keep it up..
  17. When I was living in Birmingham I had my N42 bored out to 89mm by HESCO. They did not have a torque plate but Chuck was a very skilled and detail specific person. More so than other engine builders I had meet. Felt comfortable in his abilities and it worked out great. If sunbelt wasn't as busy as they were at the time I would have paid them to build my motor. Luckily I saved that money for more mods..
  18. I am getting ready to embark on a 6 week business trip. Do these panels look like they will be available during that time. I would hate to miss out on these simply because I am not around on the internet. If it looks like his molds may be ready I would like to send him my weave of carbon fiber to have mine made. This way I have a for sure taillight panel. My weave is a little different. Wouldn't look like the others. Please get back to me before Saturday.
  19. I would drill out the panels on their spot welds. This way the panels are exactly the way they should be. Everything comes apart with a sawzall. But putting it back together can be tricky. Highly suggest take it apart the way it was put together.
  20. Pete, I was dissapointed when I pulled those panels off the doors. Looked fine from the outside. Was hoping because the shape is still there that you could bond them back together enough to make a quality mold. I know of another set that is available. They are farther away from me though. I could grab them if you determine they are necessary. Please keep the tops of those panels I sent you as I am using the corresponding doors. The sample I sent you is pretty hardcore. Military grade fighter plane CF is no joke. A single layer of that stuff has got to be strogner than steel. If it will not shape to the speaker panels you are currently making then I will have to go with the factory style replacements.
  21. Finished welding in a new inner fender for the passenger side. The front nose was bent just enough so that the hood would not close correctly. Tried pulling and banging on it for weeks. thanks to another HYBRID member I learned of a 71 240z a few towns away. Spent the next 4 days back and forth drilling out spot welds until $8.00 purchased my piece of "scrap". Got the old one out of the car and the new one in over a weekend. Going to be sandblasting and POR-15 soon I hope.
  22. Gabe, Sharp looking wheels. I think that 3 piece rear spoiler is my favorite part though. Hard to find.
  23. Pete, Doorpanels should be there at your place in 2-3 days according to the post office. I forgot that I left the metal uppers attached. Please set those aside as I will need those to be re-installed on my panels made by you. Thanks and let me know when they get there and what you think of my CF sample.
  24. I recently replaced the entire passenger side inner fender and frame rail on my Z. Not that hard to do. First level out the car on jackstands. Then drill out the spot welds. Line the replacement panel in. Secure it with sheet metal screws. Check the levels. Test fit body panels to ensure everything lines up. Remove panels. Weld in the panel thru the spots where you drilled out the spot welds. Time consuming but if it is an actual 240 worth it. 280z's are alot easier to come across. If you already did the floors why stop. Keep going.
  25. I find myself rushing thru Hybrid forums trying to get to this thread to see if they are ready yet. Feel like a junky without a fix. I have a very specific CF weave that I want to use and I cannot wait for the molds to be finished. Obviously I have to wait...I am giddy with anticipation.
