  1. Are you serious....building an engine in your yard. How's the build hygene?
  2. Congratulations on completing Backyard Mechanics 101. Look at the bright side......you won't do that again. With a little heat the bearing and alotta cold on the stub axle, the bearing would have fallen off with just a little tap on the end of the stub axle. Sounds easy but timing is critical.
  3. You might visit Victor Laurey @ Classic Zcar Club. Victor is a roadster kind of guy. Tom
  4. Man, I'm starting to sweat just looking at the pic.......looks like heavy humidity to me! Hey, I quess its good for performance....good desity altitude you know!
  5. Nice pic! You gotta admitt, its pretty hard to beat the looks of the original Z. Certainly looks like turn 6, as you head toward turn 7 and head uphill. You can see the old section of the track in the backround.
  6. John, are you revealing a side of yourself we don't need to know about? Just kinding you buddy! Still......what a great and sick comment! Tom
  7. Just another supercharger! The question I would be asking is, are the bearings on the alternator capable of handling the additional load of the supercharger? My quess is.....not for long!
  8. Isn't it ironic how these wonder product companies can't and don't provide any scientific evidence that verify their product actually does anything! Here's an interesting thought.....what type of engine just recently won overall at Sebering....an Audi diesel. Did you see any black exhaust smoke....no! Was there performance.....yes! Did they use a magnet on their fuel lines.......no!!!
  9. IIRC, no full auto firearm is legal in the USA....unless you acquire a special permit/licence. As most compident shooters will tell you....a full auto firearm is best suited for only waisting ammo.....unless of course you just need to hose down your driveway! Tom

    Get over it!

Wow Terry.......that was put very well and I concur.
  11. Have you called your local Chevy dealer?
  12. Yea, it would be sweet.....until you gazed at the balance of your bank account! Still pretty hard to beat the cost and performance of a good old SBC.
  13. Well, I took the rear anti-roll bar off and went for a drive on some of the roads I'm familiar with and frequent when looking to have a bit-O-fun. The results......I like it!!! The rear stays planted better for sure and I did not notice any big difference in front end understeer. I can certainly get back on the gas much sooner and harder, coming out of tight corners, than with the 19mm rear bar in place. Remember, this is just a street car, intended for spirited driving on tight twisty back roads. Thanks for everyones input on this subject matter. Tom
  14. Maybe I'm wrong but, doesn't the video clip sound like a V12? Seems that most of the exotic sounding Italian cars are V12s!
  15. I kinda thought thats what you were trying to get across Jon....I just didn't want someone to think that changing to solid bushings would make the rear cross bar stronger. I was thinking......Jon is loosing it! You know how some will believe just about anything they read. Tom
  16. The master-vac is rebuildable however, it can become a safety issue trying to disassemble the unit without the correct tool and a good solid bench mounted vise. Basically, there is a big strong spring that lives inside with the diaphram so be fore warned. Kits are available and cost less than a new unit.
  17. Interesting statement Jon! How would a different bushing material effect the strength of the bar? I believe a stiffer bushing will result in a tighter set-up but I don't believe it will make the bar stronger!

    80 or 81 n/a tranny

I concur with Jon! The 81 tranny with 3.90 gears are a good match for regular driving. I believe this combination came stock on a N/A manual shift ZX. I ran this set-up in my 240 and 5th gear is a perfect freeway gear. I have however, gone to a 4.10 gearing. Much more fun to drive and 5th gear is still just fine on the freeway....just a couple hundred rpm higher.
  19. You might be getting this backwards. The point is to minimise the airflow under the car.....by keeping the airflow under the car to a minimum, you effectively minimise the airfoil effect of the car's boby which creates the lift. To better understand the concept, you may want to read about the basics of lift for airfoils (aircraft wings).
  20. If anyone is interested in what a red Z looks like with similar wheels....visit the pic gallery and select 2126. These wheels are manufactured by Aldtstat and are 17" x 8" front, 17" x 9" rear. Wheel offset is 35mm....I did fabricate spacers for both front and rear to get the tire/wheels sitting in the wheel well. Tod's Z is certainly an outstanding car....along with his matching 510. Tom
  21. Pete, believe me...I feel your pain!!!! NO FUN! Yah, once you reach 40 yrs your warranty runs out. My warranty expired 15 years ago! If I may suggest, once you are back on your feet put yourself on some type of exercise program in addition to a health diet. I know what you are going through...there was a time when all I could do was ly flat on my back, period! I had those shoot pain down my legs and even on top of my feet as well as some paralisis in my right leg. Any movement brought on some really fun pain! The good news is, I'm back riding my mountain bikes and dirt bike with no ill effects. (I didn't go through surgery) There's just certain things I just don't do any more. Just thank goodness the medical industry is as well equipped as it is today! Best of luck Pete.... we're all pulling for you. Tom
  22. Lets see, the owner/builder is from Texas.....Texas has lot-O-sun........Hmmmmmmmmm!? I think the guy just has a bad case of sun stroke. I've heard it can cause you to become delusive! P.S. I'm not picking on all Texans....just this one!!!
