  1. i started it today. i took lots of pics and will post when available. I need criticism on my technics as i have never installed one and want to make sure im not making any stupid mistakes. My first question is there a method of measuring to make sure you dont cut too much of the tube off and not have too much trimming after initial cut? i would really like to cut once notch it and have it done ... Possible?
  2. wow i never noticed that.... it takes me forever to shift to 3rd Ill have to work on that
  3. hmmm foot planted when shifting that sounds like it could break something just joking if i can get it off hte line hard without breaking anything then the hard shifts will come. would hate to break a shaft shifting 2nd to 3rd or something like that. that would be ugly
  4. well that was the problem everytime i got it to grab it would break a half shaft 18 PSI in the Drag Radials and a 4000-4500rpm launch and nothing breaking should get me a 10 sec slip
  5. sss510 took me a second to figure that one out... i think you meant CIMA right? and not SEMA like the auto show
  6. ok i got it now.... that is ausome... also put up a bunch of other stuff i have search for artist "STONY" or datsun. the one tim had is called ultimate chainsaw and its cool ;>
  7. kazaa is like napster... you have to download a programm and install then you can search thru millions of megs or vids and stuff. www.kazaa.com thats what i meant when i said i couldnt host it
  8. you sent it to stony7@gci.net?
  9. cant host it but you can email it to me and ill put it up on kazaa for a while
  10. yes 16000 US in japan. it is pretty much a race car with plates on it. the list of stuff done to the engine was very long... no pics though
  11. Ross i recieved your email. Heres the situation. i was going to upgrade to the cv your talking about but i felt like the stubs were going to be the next weakest link. i read a thread a while back that you can swap the outter cvs around and it would make the axle shorter. I came across a 1988 turbo 300z rearend pretty much for free and thought i would try to swap it in with the 260. i figured a little bearing shopping and the stubs would be "bolt-in" but of course they wernt. the 260 is standard bearing and the 300 was metric. check out this thead for what i did what i didnt see initially was that the stub side had a flange on it that was considerably longer then the 260 stub flange about 2 inches longer ;< and this is why the axles are too long. they are about 1.5 inch too long. So I will get a custom set of chromoly axles and hopfully be done with it ;>
  12. any measurements on the non turbo shafts? If they will fit id be interested in that route.... it will get the car back on the road quicker
  13. james when are you gonna update you site???? alot of links are broke;< would really like to see the t88 z again
  14. 10 second kill everything on the road daily driver ;>
  15. here are some photos i have loaded on 240z.org kinda all the stuff im working on my car
  16. the shafts lengths were 15 inch compressed to 16 extended (left side) and the rights side was 15.5-16.5 compressed and extended. the bolt pattern on the stub shaft is 4 x 4 1/2 inch i measured diagonally center hole to center hole. so your saying i could cut the stub flange and make a new one and weld it on? would that be strong enough? if this will work, probably would be cheaper ;> if i understand your saying cut this flange and make it closed to the nut?

    SDS values

My suggestion to you is start it up initially with the map they send you from SDS. you should have told them your setup and they can get you started. then drive it too a chassis dyno and tune it there. everyones map is going to be different. if you use someone elses map it will only get you close. a Dyno will get you right on. and in my opinion unless you have data logging and a/f ratios available on the fly you will never get the map perfect. my 2 cents
  18. Ok talked to these guys http://www.driveshaftshop.com/ they can make a center bar for any cv setup out of 4340 chromoly for right around 400 bucks.
  19. Ok my z31 rear swap hits its first snag. the axle are too long not really a snag i was kinda expecting it but was hoping tthat reversing the cv and adjusting the length of the arm would make up for it. NO DICE heres what i plan on doing. im going to cut both axles then install both sides of the axle in there respective places. Then fully compress them and mark were the overlap is. from there i will cut an addition 1/2 inch off and tack weld them together. Once they are tacked together send them to moser and have a set of 27 spline axles made with the retaining clip groves cut in them. Now heres my question. Will a half an inch be enough or is it too much. the cv travel is almost exactly 1 inch from compressed to fully extended. I figure a half inch will put me right in the middle so i wont have any binding issues. Ok guys let me have it, what do you see in my future if i go this route Stony
  20. it is not mine it is one for sale on japan yahoo.... 16000.oo at the moment
  21. not sure about the wing but these are the matching set of overfenders that match the rear set i used to have on my car... what do you guys think ?

    SR20 or RB

me too for sure. a single turbo kit to make that kinda power for that price is gonna cost alot more then 1500-2000, maybe just the turbo but add all teh other goodies like manifold downpipe ect ect get me point laddy
  23. when i say crossover i meant the vg tq and HP lines compared to mine. another words the vg didnt start producing more power then the rb in question till about 5000 rpm
  24. wow 16 post ... i guess i hit a funny bone. I dont have a pic to post but if you were to over lay my dyno sheet with the car in question (108,00 miles)they are pretty close. My hp and torque lines start to increase alittle before the vg does and they dont cross till the upper RPM range (around 5000) mine carried 390 from 5000-redline ( 7500) compared to the 410 the vg carried out from the same point. BTW what is the redline on a stock vgdett? from what ive seen the vg is a strong motor.... but with just bolt on stuff the rb26 will produce better hp and torque numbers then the vg. and thats just because you can fit bigger bolt on stuff to the rb then you can the vg ;>
