  1. I paid 400 for mine and had to supply the cores. Basically you pay for the shaft itself.
  2. I would say yes,,. custom cv axles. When i did my z31 swap axles had to be shortened considerably. I sent them to the driveshaft shop with the measurements and they sent me back assembled chromoly shafts with z31 cvs that bolted in.
  3. Nice.... Is this an initial build or rebuild?
  4. I need some sort of aftermarket speed sensor for my car. The EMS im using needs a speed input for stuff like launch control ect ect. Edlebrock and FAST make this thing that goes around the rear-end yoke and uses magnets and would have been perfect BUT it’s for a 9 inch and im using a DANA which is different. I figured I could spend hours looking for something or I could just ask here and probably get an answer in a few days. The fast and edlebrock sensors look identicle. Here is the edlebrock one on summitracing. http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=EDL-91195 Anyways any help would be appreciated
  5. Something you may consider would be to solid mount the motor or use urethan mounts to reduce the amount of mocment your motor has.
  6. Well 8500 is only a little over stock redline. the motor is built to handle 10K rpm.... my budget is what is limiting to 8500:biggrin: I will be able to tell on the dyno ( i hope ) if im going to need to regear. No nitrous yet. but if need be i will. Again Im limiting my budget to what it will take as a minimum to get this car to the track in it's present condition. Again sorry for the thread jack.... back to drooling over ripz car EDIT: just found this link to some usefull calculators. The MPH is what sounds like what ATI was using in my case. http://www.1bad69.com/calc.htm with 32 inch tire ( 1 inch growth), rearend gear of 5:13, 8500 rpm, and used the powerglide known ratios of 1.76 and 1.00 low speed equaled 89mph and hi equaled 157.74 I'll be real interested in what actually happens :>
  7. Ripz sorry this is turning into a thread jack but i guess it still kinda applies to your car to. Scottie im new to auto's so im going on what the "PRO'S" tell me. and here is what they said during my last phone call. I said i want to build a converter for my rb26 that will have about a 6000rpm stall. they said "we dont build converters to a certain stall we build the stall according to the build sheet." So i gave them all my specs and he says the stall works out to be around 4000-4500... I say well that will be too low, it will be a slug off the line. He says "well it all depends on what you want. This converter will be locked up in the higher rpms where if i go with a higher stall the converter may be too loose and will have excessive slip on the top end resulting in lower MPH then the converter with a lower stall." So i went with their recommendation they also said if the stall is too low all i have to do is send them all the numbers and the converter and they will restall it one time for free. So some time in april i will have the info.
  8. Here are 2 ablums of 2 different cars. One is mine that is unfinished (red one), It has a ford 8.8 in it and 4 link. the other is the car i just bought. if has a dana rearend in it with a ladder bar setup http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v288/stony7/z%20black%20car/ http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v288/stony7/Z%20updates%2010%20feb/
  9. Is there some kind of calculator out there to figure out all this??? I will be running a powerglide with 176 final 31 inch tires with 513 rearend gears. ATI says this will put me in the 150s at around 8500rpm
  10. The sound is the tires on the edge of traction. the sound comes from well prepped tracks that have lots of traction. heard it many times!!!!
  11. Now that you have it at the track can you tell what your stall speed is yet? and when your boost comes in. rb30 and rb26 is probably comparing apples and oranges but i figure its gotta be close. Just ordered mine and ATI says it will be in the 4500rpm range. I was thinking this would be too low. BUT i will be able to get it restalled if it is. Thier concern is that if it were too loose that it would have too much slippage in the hi rpm range.
  12. veilside body kit or some sort of cop.
  13. Hmmmm the stuff i have dosnt look like knockoff stuff. I have reason to believe that maybe the HKS wastegate and tial blowoff and the place where these "Knockoff" pieces came from are the same. The only thing different between the 2 are the casting on the WG says HKS and the Blowoff has tial in the top of it. I pulled them apart and everything was identicle!!!! I will be starting up in january some time so i will be able to give some "reviews" on the parts.
  14. Usually dont you lower a car to make it look lower???? a set of 17 or 18 inch wheels with some really wide meats and a little less in the front might look better.
  15. Can you post a link to the 40 spline axles i cant find them. I would like to see the complete setup if anyone has one done. 40 spline stubs combined with chomoly cv axles and a r200 with an auto sounds pretty strong to me considering some people are getting into the low nines with stock stuff!!!
  16. I've got a gready type R standing by if this one give me issues
  17. Tube beader. A buddy has one and we used it on one of my intercooler pipes and it work awesome. it's a little pricey at 450.00 but if you are building intercooler kits its a must have. Got one of these babies. Band saws rock!!!! Another one for the wish list. Here is the web site the pics are hosted at. http://www.tricktools.com/
  18. Line will come from intake manifold and i have no idea what spring it uses. Are you talking spring weight???
  19. All the welding is done just need to find someone brave enoug to weld on the fuel cell once thats done then it all goes together for a final fit check then the engine comes back out to get the converter installed. Then off to get wired up
  20. Sorry some of the pics are blurry its getting kind of cold outside and i took these in the trailer after i finished up today.
  21. Main reason i ask is I dont know jack about tig welding but i want to learn.... BUT i dont want to learn that the unit i buy ends up not having enough UMMMPPPFFFF to get the minor tasks like intercooler piping and smaller aluminum welding done. So any imputs are welcome.
  22. I know you get what you pay for but does anyone have any comments on this welder?? Its a tig/plasma/stick welder. I'm interested in the plasma and tig options. Mainly for automotive applications. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220168093059&ssPageName=ADME:B:WNARL:US:1123
