  1. I saw these steering knuckles on Design Products Racing website. thanks for the link RonC http://www.designproductsracing.com/DesktopDefault.aspx The site has them listed for a 510 "Steering Arm, PL510 Bump Steered" Does anyone know what differences there are between kunkles on a Z and 510?[/url]
  2. Sorry, didn`t catch this part of Rick`s post until I read thru this thread again.
  3. For putting the seals on, I have these sweet little hard plastic sleves that go over the top of the valve stem and then you slide the seals down over and in place. They are about 1" long. When the seal is in place, just remove the sleve. They are very thin, yet pliable. I don`t know what they are called, I got them years ago when I did machine work. Ck with your local machine shop, I`m sure they have them.
  4. To bad about the deaths, they did not have to die. The driver should have known better. It’s one thing to do crazy stuff by your self, but definitely not with passengers in the car. The street is no place for racing, going fast or whatever. You want to get your rocks off, go to a track some where so others aren`t put in harms way.
  5. My plan is to use some box tubing (1x2 1/8" or something close) to move my engine (L6) back approx 2.5". How bad will the vibration be? Any idea`s on using something between the motor mount (from block) and the box tube to add some dampening to this type of mount.
  6. Not even my own. I get a "You do not have permission to view the images in this category". error
  7. To bad about the loss of the child, but WE END UP PAYING FOR STUPID PEOPLES ACTIONS!
  8. Steve Parmley, any more pics of this car?
  9. I can`t say about the lengths 100%. I think they are different, or maybe it`s the spring perch hieghts. I can add this info Z strut O.D. measurements 240 struts O.D. is 2.02" (taken from '73 strut) 280 struts O.D. is 2.185" (taken from ’76 strut)
  10. Has anyone noticed the site being a bit slow for the last few days, or is it on my end?
  11. wow Mike, you`ve got big. . . rear rotors Those things look sweet! clarkspeed, how`s the new car coming?
  12. NapaBill, I have not seen where / if you have posted up any of the tech info you referenced in your last post. If you need some help putting the stuff up or somewhere to host it, let me know.
  13. I have used this product (see link) in my tank regularly to keep rust from being a problem. It comes in a spary can as well as a 1/2 gallon bottle. http://www.amsoil.com/products/amp.html My car is parked more than it is driven. I had problems with rust in the tank many years ago. Started using the product then with very good results. Never even droped the tank, although I did change a few fuel filters until rust problem cleared up. I even use this to start my car after it has set for long periods of time and the fuel evaporates from my weber carbs. This stuff burns so clean, I can literally run my car off this stuff. It` good stuff!
  14. Ron I did not see this part/kit listed at dpracings site. http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=11114&sort=1&cat=500&page=4 Can you provide part #`s for this mod. Also any install details.
  15. A 3 piece rear spoiler has been added since. I will bond a small patch piece to cover the hole. It will all be covered once I finish molding in the spoiler.
  16. Pics of my control arms for reference. * Edit * (12-9.04) With the site changes the pics were no longer displayed. Ck the link to my site and go the the Z Car Page (link at top right) to see the control arms.
  17. The thing I am most thankful for is that I still have both of my loving parents in my life. Not just one day a year but everyday. I can`t say I was always the best son, there were some rough times. I am 42 and have for many years now tryed to make my relationship with my parents the best it can be. It`s hard sometimes! I owe them alot! I also am very thankful for the new friends I have met and have had the pleasure of spending time with. (you know who you are) Thank you! Never take a day, or the people close to you for granted!
  18. Dan they are pretty easy to make. Ck out my "Z Pics" link and you can see some I made from Mikelly`s design. I made mine alittle different from Mikes version to suit my needs. Contact Mike, I`m sure he would give you details. Thanks Mike!
  19. Engine is L6 with stock electronic ignition. What the rule for how long a coil wire can or should be? I am looking at relocating the coil to the passenger side of the engine compartment. I would probably need a coil wire 2.5 - 3 feet in length.
  20. Whats the head (brain) say? Whats the heart say? You know the history. It`s all up to you! Don`t ever be affaid to take a chance, you are a young man with lots of life ahead of you. Good luck! (edit) What Mark said! Very good point Mark.
  21. Jon, This is just my side of it, I`ll like Mike speak for himself. 1 = cost 2 = I don`t need camber plates. 3 = just to do it and have something that will suit my needs. This is a first prototype. Objective for me = a mounting point that can move so I don`t break a shock shaft and I don`t want to cut up my car that much (yet). My car sees track use (very little street) and I want the front (& rear) to be as low as it can be while maintaining 3" + or - shock travel. I am not yet using coil overs and looking to get all I can from a "stock" suspension setup (better shocks and springs). I already have adjustable front control arms that will give much more adjustability than camber plates. These "plates" will allow use of a needle bearing setup to loose a little more hieght over the stock frt bearing and the rear bushing/spacer. John B, this looks like what I am after. Can you provide me with details/drawing for the front plates? All comments, recommendations are welcomed.
  22. Pics can be viewed by using the "Z Pics & Stuff" link in my sig.
  23. All front isolators are short ones, rear on 280`s are 1" - 1.5"`s taller. You could make a plate or install camber plates (frt) to replace the front isolators. Then as stated, move the front isolators to the rear. A set of good lowering springs is easy enough to do. Do the mount mods and lowering springs and get around 2 to 3" drop.
