  1. The link for the pic was changed, try again.
  2. Anyone know where the rear flares came from?
  3. Helmets that meet the Snell 95 or higher standard. (M-Rated (Morotcycle) helmets are NOT acceptable.) I would think this would go for most any company offering a track event.
  4. I removed the cargo boxes behind the seats in my Z (non-2+2).(you can see a pic on my website / Z car page) Theres not much room back there for even some/a small seat. Safety belts would be an issue. But I not going to say it can`t be done.
  5. After removal of some unnecessary mounting tabs, brackets and doing some removal/cleanup of the undercoating and gunk in the engine bay I think to myself, it sure would be nice to pressure wash the engine bay to clean things up a bit. So I get my buddy’s pressure washer home and think to myself, that 20 foot piece of fencing (facing the street) sure could use some cleanup. So it gets cleaned and looks great. Now I see the brick on the front of the house and think, it sure would look better with a quick wash. So I start washing down the brick. This is looking great, as I take a break and look at the progress. So breaks over, I refill the washer with fuel and go for about 10 minutes and the engine on the washer stops abruptly. What’s up I think to my self? I had just done an oil change on this thing before I got started. Check the oil, its ok but the unit will not turn over. I remove the pump unit from the bottom of the motor so I can see which piece has the problem. With the pump unit removed I pull the cord on the engine, it spins over so thankfully it’s not the motor. The pump unit locked up! So, I never did get to clean the engine bay on the car and now I’ve got to find a replacement pump unit for his pressure washer. So that’s how my weekend went. Just my luck! One step forward and two backwards!
  6. The main shaft nut may be loose. (depending on what year 5 speed the trany is). If there isn’t any internal damage you might have success replacing the nut, filling the trany with some quality lubricants and put it back in.
  7. Ambitious project there Jamie. Lets see 8 hrs x 6 ports = 48 + 6 more ports = . . . Nice looking job! After the last L series head I did, I said never again. But, I will also be "cleaning up" my N42 before it goes back together. You going to bring the head up to Mike`s? I wanta see!
  8. Jamie, I would be interested in seeing what your kit contains. I have some stuff from years ago, but I did not have everything needed to do the job correctly (or easily)
  9. I know that the air tabs & vortex generators are a bit different, but. . . I serched the net and got alot of info on airplane wings and vortex generators. The pics and some videos I looked at with airplane wings showed the air tucking right down on the trailing edge (w/ vortex generators), but without the vortex generators the air was turbulent at the trailing elge of the wing. (simular to the air flow over our cars) I thought it was simular looking at info for the air tabs (the way the air tucked in behind the trailers instead of being as turbulent without the air tabs). I have a 3-peice rear spoiler on the car, I was just thinking that if more of the air coming over the roof was directed down onto the rear spoiler (using air tabs or vortex generators), all the better. I also came acrossed info on other cars with simular devices mounted just above the rear windows. What about these types of devices being mounted elsewhere on the car in problem areas? I’m still curious!

    Sticky

Admins, Mods could this thread be made a sticky again. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=93343
  11. I saw these here and would like to get some comments from you engineers here. This is not related to a street car but a track use car (s30). Thoughts on mounting some of these on the roof, say just in front of the hatch to draw the air down on the slope of the rear hatch? Or somewhere else on the car.
  12. Maybe a larger oil filter or a dual remote mount with 2 filters and/or an oil cooler for added volume/capacity.
  13. I too am an Amsoil dealer for over 20 years now. And I will not push my product on you either! If you ask, I will inform you. The product sells itself! I saw the benefits back in the early 80`s. I worked for a Z specialty shop and the owners raced (scca) a 240. I worked this car thru a season and I tore it down at the end of the season. We reused everything (including bearings), we only lightly honed the cly and went with fresh rings. The lubricants (Amsoil) were changed after every 3rd event (i think it = about 10 hrs of practice/race time) If you have a problem, you need to fix the problem. There is no magic stuff in a bottle! Except for Amsoil! You might find some informative info at my site as well.
  14. School is the most important thing! Put your energy into it and things will fall into place. There is a time and place for everything, just never in the order we want it to be. You did a great job on the Z! Lots of luck to you.
  15. Where in the profile? Don`t not see anything about change username???
  16. I have seen some differences in the 74 year models, but Stony is generlly right in his statement. Here are a size reference between early and late struts. Z strut O.D. measurements 240 struts O.D. is 2.02" (taken from '73 strut) 280 struts O.D. is 2.185" (taken from ’76 strut) I think there might be some differences with the hights of the spring perch mounts as well. not 100% sure. Either can be used on your car.
  17. Just remember, we all were newbies at some point. I think it would be good if anyone (registered or not) with 5 or less posts could get a banner displayed (before they could submit their post) giving them the sites rules and information. And this site is the best, period!
  18. Amsoil 75W-90 Severe Gear Lube No need to mix anything! Life is full of choices
  19. I have always gone with 12 ft-lbs. If you have a problem (over tourque and strip one), heli-coils will fix things. Remember, the head bolts really hold the cam towers down.
  20. I used the 25mm spacers with some 14x7 wheels. I used a 1/4 inch spacer to move the wheel out some. It`s close but works. And yes all the above matters. Just more info
  21. Looks nice! A different car all together. I too like a white Z From what I saw of your work with the roller you swaped, I`m sure this car looks better than you describe.
