Thanks for all the responses. I will try the 255L pump as a standalone first and forget the dual pump setup unless I have fuel problems. When it comes to spares I have decided to just forget it. My insurance company (USAA) will pay for a tow and fix anywhere and respond quickly. In my truck I carry a plug kit and battery operated compressor. That setup would easily fit in the spare area. For the LS1 I am thinking about using the stock electric fuel pump to feed my 255L high pressure pump. I will leave the stock lines up to the stock pump and to the feed on the new pump, then run 3/16 line from there to the fuel rails. The pressure regulator is mounted on the fuel rails and will dump into the stock return line. Please, your thoughts on this approach. Am I asking for trouble with this? Dale

Well my brakes got a good test today. I was crusing along at about 75 and had to make a real quick stop. The brakes worked flawlesly and the car stopped better than expected. The pedal was rock solid and I was able to control the car very well. The brakes are stock with the exception of steel flex lines. Everything is new except the proporting valve and the hardlines. For what it's worth I have stock size BF Goodrich Traction T/A's all the way around. Dale

Well as it turns out the seat cover is removable. So I peeled it up to the offending shoulder support and carefully pulled the foam away from the steel underneath. Then I placed the steel support in a vice and bent it back about an inch and remounted the foam and replaced the cover. I missed the door by about 1/4 of an inch and is not even noticeable. I did both seats this way and it took about an hour per seat. There are some clips about halfway up that have to be pulled to access the support, but they were easy to get out and replace. While I was at it I hacked the protective cover off of the seat slider and was able to lower the seat another 1/4 of an inch. Now I have a full finger and a half of space between my head and the top. But the idiots around here had the gun show the weekend before the ban expired. Go figure.

Actually the LS1 runs in open loop at full throttle allowing it to run around 13:1 or so for more power. Then during low rpm cruise it will lean it out to above 15:1 for fuel economy. You can program the computer on the LS1 to do just about anything you want. That's a big advantage over a carb. It uses MAP and MAF for spark advance and A/F. Older FI setups used one or the other, but with the advent of the LS1 they were combined. 2001 and newer LS1's have no EGR. It just keeps getting better. Dale
