    The main difference in the oil pans between an old Gen I SBC, and an LT1, is that the SBC uses a 2 piece rear oil seal, the LT1 uses a one piece. I think the LT1 oil pan gasket is all one piece as well.

    I really like your crossmember mount. Here is an idea to further strengthen/support your mount. Please exscuse the poor drawing but I'm sure you will get the idea. The black lines are you mount, plus "crooked" L braces underneath. This "sandwhiches" the stock Datsun farmerails (blue)and braces the bottom of your mount to the framerails. The bolts are represented in green. It's just an idea. Good luck on your Z. Jason

    I think it is good for a mild street car, but I do agree that it seems to angle the trans up a bit.

    If/when I do an LS1 Z, I definitely will make my own mounts or use a motor plate. I just don't like the looks of the JCI kit. Besides, they should NOT be that hard to install, especially considering how much they cost. This reminds me of their SBC install kits, overpriced and S**t for quality. I hope I don't offend you guys, and I wish you the best of luck on getting your LS1 Z's running.

    I used to work for PepBoys for a few years in the service dept. You would be amazed at what some customers leave laying about in their cars. I pulled a truck into a service bay, when I stopped a casette tape case full of roaches fell from the sunvisor. I have seen cash money, "underclothes", s*x toys, p*rn items, alcohol, firearms, you name it, just laying about in plain sight. Then they wonder why they get busted at a simple traffic stop. Unbelievable!!!
