  1. And just in time for paint now that the motor is in and running and all the bugs are worked out.
  2. As I was reading this thread I thought, "Hey, didn't I post about this a while back? I'll find that post and tell Pete I told you so". Sorry Pete. I feel your pain.
  3. I use my DeltaTrak everyday at work. I agree, a great tuning tool... for air conditioners as well.
  4. Nice install Hanns. You may or may not burn up the fan motor if you energize both high and low speed windings at the same time. The motor windings may take the heat ok but why risk it? It won't run any faster it will just run hotter. Ford's fan controller doesn't energize both at the same time. At the very least it will shorten the life span of the fan motor.
  5. My feelings are hurt too, Tim. Come on over and the two of us old farts will cry in our beers while we're waiting for our hips to break. (we need an "old fart" gremlin with a gray beard and cane).
  6. These kind of things happen to everyone at sometime. It sounds like you are actualy quite fortunate. The shop went out of there way to get the tags of the perp AND took responsibility AND will be replacing your tires and wheels. You're lucky you found a shop with integrity. They may take a hit on there insurance premium for their graciousness. You should reward them with your business and your refference.
  7. Yes, that's what I ment. The plates don't come with instructions. I just installed mine the same way Jon, a.k.a. Jumbo240ez, did his. As far as I know Jon never had any problems with his installation. He did not reinforce the tower under the plates and he raced hard and street drove the car for about three years before the, uh, unfortunate incident (not camber plate related).
  8. What a novel thought. Banning certain topics because they stir up emotions or are a challenge to moderate is the easy choice. In my humble opinion, the banning will devalue this wonderful site.
  9. Huh, mine are on top like the red car. Didn't know they needed to go underneath but makes sense. With the plate on top and slider plate under the tower top is sandwiched with the four additional bolts for the slider plate. So, a total of eight bolts and the slider plate holding it all together. Not saying this is right or the way it was designed to be installed, just an observation. (And it looks a lot better with the plate on top.)
  10. The top plate is the template. Align it on the top of the tower and mark it out with a pointy felt pen. You will have to first cut the sides off the raised center portion of the tower to be able to set it flat on the tower top. For the four holes that bolt the top plate to the tower just drill holes in the center of the slots. The other three slots need to be cut out completely.
  11. 26" wheels? Why stop there, why not 30", 40", 100"?!?!? This is stupid. When does common sense kick in?
  12. (grunt) Ross good (grunt, grunt) I need more money so I can buy more things from him.
  13. That's so cool! A similar thing happed to me. I was driving my Z around the other day and I thought to myself, "Gee, I sure would be great to install a V8 in this baby". I got home and popped the hood and look what I found!!!
  14. It's no biggie. Get a manual with good wiring diagrams. A factory Helm manual would be best but may cost as much as you paid for the car! The JTR TPI/TBI book is very helpful as a basic manual for swapping FI motors. TBI is a speed/density type FI. A little study and you will see it's pretty simple. Does the car have a "pellet" in the ignition key? If so you've got VATS. It's not an embarassing disease (though some act like it is). Just make sure you take the VATS modual and the ignition key before you junk the car. Also, make friends with strotter. He knows those older GM ECUs like the back of his hand. The most reliable trouble free motors I've owned have been the TBI's in my Chevy trucks.
  15. Straight plugs, blockhuggers, about 20 minutes.
  16. The first one, the Beck Arnley part, that's it. I don't know what that Moog part is.
  17. Just installed mine. It's got a problem though. The light won't go out.
  18. Sorry Alex. That's weird. I'm sure you dropped an e-mail to Ross. Seems really strange that you would have to grind to fit a part from MML. When you take it apart take a shot of the bracket to show us how much grinding you had to do. Something sounds screwy here.
  19. Check for some pics of other guys swap. I think you may have the bracket on the wrong side. I thought the caliper mounts to the top rear corner of the disc. Looks like yours is to the the top front. Nice to see you're working on your car again.
  20. Hey that sounds cool! Where have I seen that before? Cops haven't bothered me yet.
  21. I have to add my experience here too. I'm done two V8Z swaps both with the JTR rad and the Taurus two speed fan. Absolutely no overheating problems (so long as the wires stay attached!). Those Ford fans are cheap and strong. Don't use those through-the-core type zip tie things to mount it to the rad. They will abraid the tubes and cause leaks. Make yourself some decent brackets. I made mine from a simple piece of sheet metal bent in a Z shape with four holes for bolts.
  22. Keep an eye out here in the events forum. Ron Fuller of ZONC pretty much keeps us hybrid guys up on all the Zonc (NorCal) events. So far this year I've been to the Travis meet, near you in Fairfield, and the Blackhawk meet. Even though these are Zonc events hybrids are welcome (and secretly envied) and a few always show up.
