  1. Don't say that around Pete P. (I agree with you. My Billet Specialties rims have caps. Only my wheel man knows I'm a four-bolter.)
  2. Darth, just noticed your sig. Big belly laughs! True, so true.
  3. You can buy Mustang wheels for your Z. Centerline will sell you 10" or wider custom rims. You can feel 20% more confident that your wheel won't fall off. You can spend more time with your "baby" when you change a tire. That's all I can think of for now.
  4. IT'S FIXED!! IT'S FIXED!! Thanks Dan, I never doubted you for a moment. BTW, sorry about all the griping. This problem was really testing my generally good online nature. So nice to have the curse lifted.
  5. FYI, I downloaded Netscape 7.1 for the Mac last night, no improvement.
  6. You whitey weenies! Sunburn, sheeesh. I got nice TAN. Toughen up and next year you can hang with Vince and I.
  7. That sounds like the wrong flange. The shoulder on the flange should fit snuggly in the bore on your pinon. Sounds like the shoulder is a larger diameter than your bore.
  8. I do not have AOL. I have a local service that is very responsive. They have looked into it and say the problem is coming from the site. I may be able to get around the problem if I download Netscape and scrap EI 5.1 for Mac. I'm going to try that either tonight or tomorrow depending on how long it takes to download.
  9. Hi guys. I need a quick education. Please forgive me. I have not been reading the LT1 related posts much and I just don't have the time to do a search and read all results. I need to know about the differences/advantages/disadvantages of the various iterations of the LT1 (only the modern FI motor) mostly related to ease of swap. This motor will likely not be modified from stock. So mostly I want to know what problems I can avoid by choosing the proper year/model. Also, this motor would have a T56 behind it. Thanks, Dan
  10. E-mail Eric at Zparts. I know he is currently in negotiations to aquire a handfull of these rare birds.
  11. Don't mount it to the crossmember at all. It simply hangs from the Chevy tranny mount.
  12. Having never even heard it run I sold the L6 and 4speed out of my car on ebay for $125. Four months later the guy e-mails me to tell me once he finally got it in the car it fired right up first time and runs and shifts perfect. Good for him. Good for me. One vote for ebay.
  13. If I understand you right J. it sounds like you are tring to use both the stock and the Ron Tyler mount. You can't do that. Leave out the stock mount and it will fit fine. The R.T. mount locates the nose of the diff a little lower than stock. This faciltates better driveshaft u-joint angles if you have a V8. If I misunderstood you, and you already know all of this, sorry.
  14. Property taxes are double that of CA. But since property values are 1/3 that of CA it's wash. (ignore the bad math, take my word for it) K. Falls is a nice town. One I would consider if I ever had to leave Rio Vista. Finding gainful employment is the trick. Actually, Rio Vista is a lot like a small town in Oregon, only better weather.
  15. Take a trip up to Stockton and see Kennedy Auto Wreckers. They are at the end of Clark Rd. Ask for Beau or Gary. They have quality low mileage motors and offer a swappers special. Got my tpi motor from there and was very happy.
  16. I think Al Silvera, a.k.a. Alsil, is still selling his crossmember for the Ford convertion. Check the member list and drop him an e-mail. Also, Jon Miwa, a.k.a. Jumbo240zz has a 302 in his Z. And Jon is not too far away from you , Antioch. Plus Jon just loves working on other peoples Z cars. Just ask Alex. He'll probably just run right up there and help you put it in. Seriously, 300 clams is a great deal if it runs well and only has 42k on the clock. Are you sure that's not 142k, or 242k?
  17. Happens to me too. Very frustrating. If I type too long the site logs me out. Sometimes the cookie delete helps, sometimes not. I liked the old board/format. Never had these problems there.
  18. Do you remember what you paid for those '81 Maxima locks?
  19. I crapped out at Ace as well. Like OSH they have 1 1/2" and 2". The unthreaded shank on the 1 1/2" is too short and the 2" is too long. 1 3/4" might work IF I can find them. I think I got mine at the driveline shop. Unfortunately with my new job I don't drive anywhere near it anymore. Anyone else out there looking for these things? We got to help our Oki-man.
  20. I actually stoped at OSH today to pick you up some. But they did not have the right length. You need 5/16x24x1 5/8. Then cut them down to 1 1/8" This will ensure that you do not have threads at the place where the two surfaces meet. Like jt1 says, that's important. I'll try Ace tomarrow.
  21. Benjlv, Welcome to hybrid. Sounds like you know your AC. Your expertise will be a welcome addition here. I'm an AC mechanic myself but I work on commercial building systems, mostly R-22. I don't work on auto AC. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. "Yes, you're my friend. No, I won't fix your AC" One warning about HC's. I know of an auto mechanic that was seriously burned when a car he was working on blew an AC hose and the propane, installed in the system illegally, ignited and shot a flame in his face like a blow torch. In my book it's not worth the liability exposure. If I were to even suggest swapping a non EPA approved refrigarant into one of my clients systems I risk losing my EPA license. If someone got hurt because of it, I'd go to jail.
  22. Don't know what others have said about GM Sport Salvage. Here is my story. Bought my WC T5 from them when I couldn't find it anywhere else. Their price was comparable to other yards I trust. Included bellhousing, slave, master and pedal assembly (which I passed on since the parts don't work on a Z), flywheel and all clutch parts. Basicly a complete swap deal. After I got it home (two hour drive) I noticed the slave cylinder was cracked. I called back the next day and told them. They said they would grab one off another car and send it up no charge. Two days later they called back to say they didn't have one right now but they expected some more T5 cars in by the end of the week. They asked if I could wait till then or if I needed it now. I told them that I could wait since it was unlikely I would have everything ready to go together by the weekend. The next day a brand new slave came in the mail shipped next-day from a Chevy dealer near the yard. When I called back to thank them they said it was more important to them that I was happy then if it cost them a few bucks for a new part. I used the cracked one as a trainer when modifing it for the swap. Can't speak for others but I was happy.
