  1. Yup, that's the SubtleZ hood. As soon as Eric gets his pics up you can see black vents on a stock blue hood.
  2. It really is a pretty simple mod. The biggest job is taking everything apart and putting it back together. Tip 1) Use an angle grinder to remove your old perches and be carefull not to grind into the strut tube. Tip 2) Read and measure carefully then scribe a line on your tube for the ring before you weld. Weld the ring to the tube only from the bottom side of the ring. Tack the ring on in one place then slide the collar on to verify it is perpendicular before you weld it on for good. Tip 3) Don't loose the o-ring (like I did, makes a great rubberband. FLING) The o-ring goes over the strut and gets wedged between the collar and the tube to keep the collar from rotating when you adjust them latter.
  3. Hey Poundz, $100k might be a good price for a new Diablo but I'm not buying one of those either.
  4. Everybody here knows how much I like fiberglass so believe me when I say this is better done in steel. I've seen one of these up close. This would be very easy to do in steel. Four easy bends and weld it in. Another piece to hold the rear window. Weld, grind, fill, sand. These are all flat sides. Fiberglass is great for compound curves. Steel is much easier for flat stuff. Side note: I bet AZ Z has about 32 molds. Even if some need some work that is not a bad price.
  5. Hood, dash, taillight panel, air dam. All good guesses. But these have allready been done before. Ok, with only one day to go I'll offer my last and biggest hint: John has made a new product specificly (and not) for the 1st gen Z car that no one else has offered before. There you go! Rack your brains boys, tomarrow you will have pictures.
  6. Call the cops. If that ain't fraud it's close enough. This is what happens when you teach people to order by the picture and not read the menu.
  7. Greimann makes an excellent point. A muffler is only a part of the whole system. My muffler man, who BTW is hosting the NorCal show this Saturday (sorry, cheap plug), says the way you bend the pipe after the muffler has a strong effect on the tone.
  8. Oh Doug, you're so sharp! A G-nose. How'd you guess? Uh, well no, that's not it. I'm so bad. You're getting warm though.
  9. I'm 5'7" but I still don't have any room for whiners.
  10. All right, twist my arm. Here, fetch boy! It's not a full body kit like the La Bala or the Velo Rossa. Hum, not much meat on it. Well, keep the pressure on guys. Maybe I'll crack and give it away.
  11. ...to be debuted at the NorCal HybridZ Show and Swap. If you want to be the one of the first to see John's latest designs for the Zcar come to Rio Vista this Saturday. No hints 'till then. O.k., just one. It will be available in fiberglass and carbon fiber.
  12. If you can get Rory to make them he has a fiberglass dash cover that fits over the stock dash. It's part of his Tomohawk kit but he said he would sell them separately. IF you can get him to make them. I waited a year and finally bought one from a guy that didn't use the one in his kit. It looks cool, covers any cracks but does nothing to change the HVAC controls. Purely cosmetic, except that it has one more hole for another 1 5/8" gauge. So how do you like Vancouver, Al? Is the weather similar to Aptos? What do those northerners think of your brand of rock & roll?
  13. Sorry, but it is my understanding that the 5 lug hub (front only) pushes the wheel out about an inch from where it sits with the four lug hub. The rears remain the same.
  14. On the first gen Z's under the diff IS the stock route. There is no other room anywhere else.
  15. I paid about $400 to have my dual exhaust made. 2 1/2" mandrel bent head pipes off the block huggers. Then 2 1/4" the rest of the way back. H pipe, flanges to remove it in sections, dual Flowmasters, all aluminized pipe, crome tips. I think I got a bargain though. Here's a pic. Sorry Alex's (Auxilary) head is in the way. That's a problem whenever he and a camera are in the same room.
  16. The JTR mounts (set-back plates and spacers) are asymetrical. They offset the motor about 3/4" to the right to clear the streering shaft. I'm sure all you would have to do is switch the mounts. Not being familiar with the RHD Z you may have other issues but I'm sure no more then you would have with any swap. Heck, it might be easier to route the heater hoses. Eric Neyerlin @ Zparts.com has both right and left hand cars. He does not have a V8 car but he may be able to help if you e-mail him.
  17. I seriously doubt it. I know you can't bolt a 280 tank into a 240. They have a very different shape on top. Bet you could make that sump fit your 280 tank with a little "clearancing".
  18. The SubtleZ cowl hood is so cool. Ditto on John. Bought my plastic from him. Kind of a shame to cover this up though. Are you going to use the stock vent grills? Somebody needs to come up with a custom replacement for those things. I've been thinking about making some kind of scoop that would bolt in. John was talking about doing a stainless steel thing. Did he say anything to you about that?
  19. Sorry dude, this year we're doin' name tags, with pseudonyms. Pseudoname tags? You're bringin' that rowdy ride again this year, aren't you?
  20. Sorry, yes, you're right. They do make some four bolt ten inch wheels. But when I asked for custom wheels they said no dice.
  21. I thought this thread was about getting your suspension really screwed up and winding up in the bushes. I bet Alex was salivating when he read the post. "Another opertunity to show off". J.K. Alex.
  22. Coilovers at all four corners. Got 'em from Ross C. Great guy. Not Centerlines, they're Billet Specialties. Centerline won't make 10" wide wheels on four bolts. I wasn't exactly sure about my backspacing. I measured and measured again before ordering. You can't send back custom wheels. I knew it would need to be somewhere between 4 3/4" and 4 1/2". I had them make it 4 3/4" and figured I could always space them out but I couldn't go the other way. As it turns out 4 5/8" would have been perfect except that with the Toyota four piston vented brake convertion the calipers would hit the wheel. So I lucked out. With an 1/8" spacer everything will clear AND fit right. Come to the NorCal meet a week from Saturday and you can see it up close and in person. Rio Vista is only 45 minutes from Stockton.
