Lower end on the motor is a D15b which came in the civic VTi's in Japan... but was identical the the Civic VX lower end here in the states (VTi had a vtec head where the VX had a 16 valve non-vtec head)
To me it looks as if someone had this D15b shortblock and just slapped on the 8v HF head, although it COULD be an Si/DX head (wont know till we pull the valve cover.)
This won’t be our full tilt race motor... Right now we're working on a good mule... looking to be about mid pack. My brother Chris post quite frequently on ITforums and we've met a few of the Datsun guys from up north.
Depending on your shocks... look between 275 and 350 lbs for springs. Stagger front to back with a 25-50lb difference.
Now thats just a ball park... things like sway bars will have to be thrown into the equation aswell.

If your throwing a check engine light, you need to pull your codes. It sounds to me like you have a TPS/IACV issue. Could also be timing, but I doubt it.
