  1. I used 'buy it now' to get mine this morning. Eric, How difficult is it to disassemble for paint? Any tips or tricks to help and prevent us from damaging our cars would be welcome.
  2. My spoiler fits good. I was planning on cutting mine up like yours, but after doing a test installation I decided to just keep it the way it is (I will still paint it to match). Appreciating how much work it took for you to install yours also helped in my ultimate decision.
  3. I see them on eBay every now and then, but the NOS one's are pretty expensive. I'm not sure that your filler neck is stock...I don't think mine looks that nice. Maybe that's an aftermarket piece? Does anyone else have a stock filler neck that looks like that?
  4. There are definitely pro's and con's based on the donor vehicle. Since you are just starting, make sure you get the JTR book as it will answer a great deal of your initial questions. http://www.jagsthatrun.com/Pages/Datsun_Z_V-8.html If you want to go LSx, here's another resource for you: http://www.brokenkitty.com/zcar/zcar.htm Searching on this site will give you ton's of information regarding engine choices, so make sure you find plenty of time to sift through all the information.
  5. I just picked up the same style for me 240Z from MSA and I'm very happy with it. They just changed vendors, so maybe they are better than they were previously. It also came with the proper bolts and a cardboard template for drilling the holes that made installation a breeze. Guy installed the same one on his ZX and molded it in to his body. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=118495
  6. Why are you looking for ZX flares for your Z? If you're looking for ZG flares, you can get them from MSA: http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/7BSA02/50-1563 Don't know of any resources on your side of the pond though.
  7. Yea, it wouldn't work too well the way it's pictured...but it does work well when it's routed correctly.
  8. I wish I had taken some pictures showing how I routed my wires, but I think that the way I have them routed the headers are not an issue. Here you can see how the route directly to the sides from the Opti: From there they run alongside the block and up to the sparkplugs. The sparkplug boots are 'L' shaped, so the wires run straight down from the plugs. I used to have the wires running along the valve covers with these aftermarket holders that bolted directly to the valve covers.
  9. Sounds nice and mean. I'm sure you'll be able to get even better times out of her now.
  10. Hard to know what you think is too much and what you think is just right. Have you looked at the stuff MSA has to offer? http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/CTGY/BSC I have the Kaminari front air dam and I just added the matching side skirts. I think it doesn't scream "look at me", but it does make it look low and mean. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=118583 I also have a classic rear skirt to help continue the same look all around the car. I think that a majority of the members here aren't using body kits on their S30 Z's, so it really just boils down to what works for you. Good luck, and I hope you find what you're looking for.
  11. Your not going to be able to see my wires since they are running up from the bottom. I made a couple of small brackets that connect them to where the oil pan connects to the block and made sure they are routed so that they have plenty of space between them and my headers. The only issue will be when I need to replace them.
  12. See if this works: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&viewitem=&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ebay.com%3A80%2Fsearch%2Fsearch.dll%3Ffrom%3DR40%26satitle%3D320090956888%26fvi%3D1&item=320090956888
  13. If you click on the pic of the engine in my signature you'll see a larger version of the image. Notice the ignition wires? When I did all my engine modifications I also decided to route all my wires from bellow. I think it makes a much cleaner install and no custom lengths required.
  14. http://www.jagsthatrun.com/Pages/Datsun_Z_V-8.html Start with their book and it will point you in the right direction (they sell parts as well). Good luck!
  15. Hey Keith, I've been wondering what you've been up to. Sorry to hear about your project, but good luck in your new career and I hope to see you down the road sometime. -Bart
  16. Thanks for all the replies. They did come with studs and backing plates, so if it would be better to install them using the studs and structural adhesive I will go that route instead. Afterwards, I'll blend them in with my Rage Gold. BTW - The studs just have a couple of course looking threads around the middle of them. Do they just use some sort of metal clip to hold them on? I'll need to find them as they didn't come with it.
  17. Sounds pretty good, but you would be better off getting an engine from an F-body rather than a Corvette; otherwise you're going to run into some problems getting the accessories to fit. Get the JTR manual if you haven't done so already, among other things it helps in deciding what engine to start out with.
  18. I puchased a couple of 1978 Camaro Fender Vents to install in my fenders. I received them today, and I was very surprised to find they're made out of metal. Hopefully this will make it much easier to blend in with my stock metal fenders. Do you think these fender vents are just some sort of pot metal and would there be any problem welding them into my stock fenders? I'd like them to look built in like what Dragonfly did with his later model fender vents. Here's a shot of one of them partially sanded down:
  19. I don't have the proper cable to upload pic's from my good camera, but I got a few from my camera phone for now: The fit is very good, and the gap between the skirt and body is uniform. Needless to say, I'm very happy with my purchase.
  20. Even though the room addition isn't completely finished, I think I'm going to go full swing with the car for a while and try to get the paint finished before the ZCCIV show in May...we'll see how it goes.
  21. I got a call the other day that my Kaminari side skirts were at MSA. I swung by today and picked them up, and my initial impressions are very positive. When I got to MSA we unwrapped them and we were both impressed with the high level of quality. The MSA employee told me they look much better than the other side skirts they carry. Don't post about being "worthless without pic's" I will take and post them up very soon...hopefully Saturday.
  22. I'm pretty sure the Datsun lug nuts need to be 12x1.25 not 12x1.5.
