The AN series hoses are sized in 1/16's, so 4AN is 4/16's or 1/4" ID, that would be too small. You want to run 5/16" as a min and more like 3/8". This will reduce pressure drop and flow enough to keep your trans cool.

A horse and chicken were best pals at the farm, one day while playing the horse fell into a mud pit and was sinking. He whinnied at the chicken and told him to go get the farmer and the tractor to pull him out. The chicken went to the farm house but the farmer had taken the tractor and wagon to town, but there was a harley in the barn so he hopped on that and got a rope and rode to the mud pit. The chicken threw the rope to the horse, who got it in his mouth, and the chicken tied the other end to the harley and pulled the horse out. After that they were best of best buds, pals, etc. Then one day the chicken fell into the same pit. He chuckled to the horse to pull him out the horse just let his manhood down and told the chicken to grab on, and he pulled the chicken out. The moral of the story is, yes there is a moral. That when your hung like a horse you don't need a harley to pick up chicks!

Those are a raised port head compared to standard sbc.

When I have extra $$$ in my paypal account, I usually make a donation. I have some coming this next week for some wheels that a buddy sold, so I'll be in for $100 next week.

Yup, not alot of options though. Oh, well.

I called MSD, they verified over the phone that the box was likely in "need of repair". Cost is min of $30 and a max of $99. I guess when it's too far gone they just send you a new one. Soooooooooo, I guess I'll ship it off and wait 10 working days to get it back. Lovely, I just love MSD.
-
That's good information, the problem I have is that it doesn't belong to me, it's larry's and I'd rather just have my own stuff, kind of the way I am. Makes life simpler if you have your own and not borrowing other things, because IME it breaks as soon as you use it and you end up buying 2 instead of 1.

I thought of the msd box in the pinks car but it was setup for 6cyl so that wouldn't work. Tested the MSD box this AM, has juice, no spark when doing the MSD test for magnetic pickup. So it has to be the box. Smoky burnout pic's, vids, sound???? What do you guys think I am a movie producer?!!! Maybe when I get it all going. I have some other small issues I have to deal with, probably going to be awhile before it gets going. Time to get a RMA number from MSD and ship it off.
-
Won't fit behind the banks air box, already thought of that. Could wire in an MSD7AL2 box, but I'd have to change coils, etc, etc. Going to test input voltage here in a few, if that's good, then box it up and ship it to MSD.
-
:lmao: Nope already checked that before I fired it.
-
Not worth the hassle, just send it back to MSD and pay them to fix it, faster, cheaper, IMO. We'll see, maybe something else crapped out. Well, come to think if it that couldn't be because the coil had juice and that comes from the MSD box so the MSD was getting juice otherwise the coil wouldn't be getting any. Will have to check both hot wires on the msd, won't take a minute, then if as suspected off it goes to MSD.

Congrats! Oh, that's the hard part, all that money now to burn up on the z! Let's see, $2/pack? x 30 days/mo x 2 packs/day = $120/month = $1440/year Well, let's see, gold plating, you know BLING IT OUT, BABY!!!!! Since it's already yellow you know. How about a gold plated blower and carb!!!!
-
Well, this and that, this and that. Figured I'd better pressurize the fuel lines to make sure I don't have leaks, fire it with the carb bonnet off and the turbo's compressors not hooked up, just to make sure it runs, has oil pressure, you know minor things. Had everything hooked up, cranked it, it sounded weird, not firing right, but only like on 3 cyl. Checked everything, played with the dizzy rotation on timing. Finally got it to fire, still like on maybe 4 cyl max hitting, rpm on tach showing about 1000 but the engine only barely turning over, then it died completely. Check for spark, none, Hmmmm MSD box? I never checked it when I got it used off ebay. Well, sorry to say I got burned, it doesn't work, even when I manually test it, no spark, it died! It's set up for 8cyl operation but I got a non-working box to start with. So, you win some you loose some.

tubro 350 install problems, need advice
dr_hunt replied to Forces's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
There are two sizes 156 and 168 tooth, two weights, internal and external (weight welded on). The only thing you could have possibly done is put it on backward. Lip faces out over the crank. In otherwords, the hole in the center of the flexplate has a little lip on one side, it goes towards the trans. I doubt if it's bent unless it's a stocker one, and maybe not even then. Buy a new one if you have to, they are about $30. SFI rated are about $60. If you were here I have several, I'd give you one. I use grease on the seal and shaft of the converter, oil will work fine too, as long as it's lubed. Before stabbing the converter look to see where the pump dogs are and try to install the TC with the corresponding notches aligned right, push on the center of the TC hub with one hand and rotate with the other, should go in fairly easily, but you never know. If not have someone else give it a try as you may not be holding your mouth right. When all the way in you shouldn't be able to fit your fingers inbetween the TC and the front pump. If you can then it's not all the way in. Well at least with my fat fingers anyway. -
Oh, that's cool. We actually have one of these injection systems.

Ok, here's a joke; Little Johnny and little Jimmy, 7 and 4 respectively are upstairs getting ready in the AM. It's a school day. Johnny says, you know Jimmy, I think it's time we started cussing like dad. Good idea says Jimmy, what are we going to say? Johnny thinks and says, You say a sentence with the word a$$ in it and I'll say one with he11 in it. Ok, says Jimmy. So, down to the breakfast table they go and belly up to the table. Mom asks Johnny what'll you have for breakfast? Johnny says, "Aw hell ma, I think I'll just have some cheerios!" She backhands him right out of the chair and sends him up to his room. With that done, she asks jimmy what he'll have. With eyes wide open he says "I dunno ma, but you can bet your fat a$$ it ain't going to be cheerios!"

Ok guys, sick jokes will be deleted, don't take offense, just that they are not appropriate, save them for your buddies and a beer.

Yup, "Can't" never did, and never will!!!!! So, give it a try and see what happens, you'll be amazed at what you "CAN" do if you give it a try!!!

Fixing the magnetic drum separator for my wash plant, 7 feet long, 30" diameter, broke in half, Stainless steel. Needs a new sleeve. Then it's on to finishing the exhaust on the TT project. I had a water leak on the intake, but I got that fixed tonight. Got the guages installed and wired and the MSD and two step mounted and wired. Needs plugs, trans-brake switch, plug wires, clamps on the intake piping, greddy and LC-1, and it's ready to fire up for the first time. I'll run it for awhile then pull the turbo's, reset the valves, re-install it all, then drive it off-boost for awhile to seat the rings. Probably going to take 3 weeks to complete everything though, the exhaust is going to be interesting. Going to come out just behind the front wheels at the bottom of the rockers. Just going to have the 3" flowmasters and then right out the side. -
Somehow none of that looks very good. You say the engine was sitting for a long period of time? If so then I'd imagine the valve could have been stuck in the phosphorous/bronze guides, but not all that likely. Hard to say without seeing it first hand.

Well, anything with 500rwhp and 350rwtq isn't going to be very quick IMO.

The bimmer was meant to be a luxury daily driver, the z was intended to tear up the track, from what I've read anyway about the development of the z.
