  1. My wife is from Wareham, Mass. -Cape Cod to be exact and during my summer vacation I took a tour and picked up some information.
  2. RebekahsZ, I am watching your build trying to get motivated !!!! I have a 77' 280, and I am utilizing the area where the stock intake went. The core support had a hole that was a bit tight, so I broke out the dremel with a small grinding wheel and went around the whole circle until the aluminum tubing fit through. On my list is to take some flat stock shape like a " L " and make some support brackets if it the intake needs more support.
  3. I do not know if there is a difference between the 72 240 transmission tunnel and a 75-78 280 transmission tunnel, But I will tell you on my 1977 280, I had to take out the BFH (BIG F****HAMMER) to the tunnel on the passenger side for clearance and to have the ability to reach your hand up and over to plug in the ECM harness conector to the 4L60E. Also, the area I had to massage was just below the passenger firewall, were the bellhousing and engine connects. Before, I drop the engine and transmission in, I had did some banging in the tunnel but it was not enough in the right areas. I hope to get back on mines in a month, if you need a photo I can head over to garage and get a picture for you. Glenn A.
  4. Check with Dave at Arizona Z car. That is were I bought mines.
  5. Do you have a T56 or 4L60E transmission? If you have a 4L60E automatic the routing length from ECM placement to the transmision (passenger side) connection needs to be specified.
  6. Scott, That part is the aluminum tubing you will receive in your JTR ducting. I have some better pictures attached.
  7. Scott, I have the JTR intake, I bought the filter on ebay and I knew I needed a filter to fit 3.5 inch tubing and I used the picture on the JTR website as reference for the shape and size of the filter. I drilled a hole for the air temperature sensor with a drill bit the size of the sensor and sealed around the hole with silicone sealant. Test fit everything in place and mark your location were you are going to drill for sensor, and do your drilling on your work table or bench so you can clean up the shavings before you install everything back on the car.
  8. We (my wife has a FX35), 2004 Lease turn in with a little over 25,000 when we bought it. We have had it for 3.5 years with about 58,000 miles. 1. Buy from a Infiniti dealer certified if possible with 90 % of the maintenance records or history. The 04 and 05 serpentine belt from factory squeals ( replace with newer belt, DO NOT ACCEPT BELT DRESSING !!!) 2. The battery is time consuming to replace, so get ready to dig in, if you do not have the dealer replace. 3. TIRES are expensive, depending on what model you go with your tire sizes will be 18 inch or 20 inch. The 18 inch Bridgestone are $1200.00 for set not including mounting, balancing and re-built tire pressure monitors. The Bridgestone are a better performance tire, however the wear out quickly. I replaced Bridgestones with Falken tire, not a hi-performance tire, but my wife will get more mileage out of them. Also, we had a leak from transmission hose, replace under warranty and no other problems. As stated, gas mileage is not the best and back seat space is just enough for teenagers not adults, but it is different kind of vehicle. I would dump my 4-Runner in a hot minute for FX35 or FX45.
  9. I read your post, and did not have MAC Book due to system crash and repair. Good thing, did not lose pictures and I have everything backed up, The clips bolt into tapped existing holes. I have to rev-visit my hard-lines and bend them up away from the steering rack. Pictures attached rotate to the right, in the first photo the balancer is at the top of photo, and the second photo you are looking from behind the passenger tire.
  10. Meaty69Maro, Your car looks and sound great!! Also, Nitto's run a bit narrower than Kuhmos, BFG's and Goodyear in that order especially in the size 315/35-17. :
  11. Thank you. I will pick some up before we get snowed in !!! Hopefully, push the start button next weekend !!!!
  12. Rags and EvilC, Are you guys using DEX cool or regular green antifreeze?
  13. That was going to be my question "Did you get Dave's new hand brake setup?"
  14. WOW ! This topic is right on point for me !!! I was on a roll working on the car every weekend up until about a year ago. My wife got laid off about two years ago, so with a mortgage, two kids and other financial responsibilities, spending money on the Z would have been irresponsible. I am very LUCKY and BLESSED - I still have my job and my wife is working with a great company, I have my house and another toy to drive ( C5 Vette ) and my health. The one thing that has come out of me working on my Z so long, as stated as time goes on, the options and technology is getting better and the prices keep coming down on LS parts. Hopefully, late spring I will have a few extra dollars and I can get brakes, tires, fluids and fire it up and start saving again for bodywork and paint.
  15. I finally have a couple of dollars to spend on the car !!! For those who have done a LT1 or LS1 swap with a 4L60 E, for the ease of changing transmission fluid did you drill the pan for a drain plug adapter. Or did you replace the transmission pan ( 2 quart deeper pan ? ) same size with drain plug ? The F-body transmission pans do not have a drain plug, and I want to start this thing with all new fluids. Thanks,
  16. Go to Twistmachine.com or TCI, hardwire or wireless setup as your options.
  17. $10,000.00 is were you START. Were you end is up to you.
  18. I am not trying to be rude or impolite, but when I was in my late teens to twenties ! a long time ago I threw money at every car, jeep or truck I every owned. i worked at Jack in the BOX and UPS to pay for everything including rent !! HOT RODDING can not be done cheap, yes it can be done on a budget. Most guys that I know who do budget swaps have money invested in TOOLS, parts connections and buddies with know how. If you do not have two of three in my opinion, get you a second job, and another credit card because $10,000.00 will be your starting point. If your concern right at this moment is how much is it going to cost? you will not enjoy the build process.
  19. What fuel guage are you using and how are you grounding sender ?
  20. David my fuel delivery is similar to yours. I hope you do not mind, as I use that picture to figure out the placement of the FPR. KTMP, ask for the part number to the 99 corvette filter/regulator, which I discovered after I had installed my fuel lines, filter, regulator and pump. If I was to do it another LS1 /Z swap -I would go with the 99 corvette filter/regulator.
  21. ktmp, I purchased my hard line, steel braided line and -AN fittings from Summit as well. If no one post the information, I will go through my folder of receipts. I used this thread from LS1tech as a guide http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/conversions-hybrids/1188666-fuel-line-plumbing-corvette-fuel-filter-reg.html.
