  1. I've heard of the gear spinning on the oil pump shaft. I've never experienced it myself though.
  2. There shouldn't be a problem if you mount the pump close to the tank and as low as the bottom of the tank.
  3. While reading this I had an idea. Could someone extrude hone their intake at home by pumping concrete through it? Could it be made abrasive enough to be effective? Just an idea... of coarse someone on another forum had the same idea. Looks like there's a lot more to it. http://www.turbododge.com/forums/f4/f15/394760-diy-extrude-hone-what-ive-found.html
  4. The only time I heard a clicking noise while braking was when the brake drums were machined too fast leaving a spiral groove in the friction surface of the drum. The shoes would grab a spring back. Or maybe there are some wires being shorted by the brake pedal...Who knows...
  5. The injectors are the dark blue ford cfi injectors, 440cc. All ms grounds go straight to battery neg. The sensors ground to the intake manifold. The voltage spike problem may be because the small red ms power wire goes to the oem fuse box. I'm thinking I may need a better place for ignition. Here is a copy and paste of the email I sent you on Sept. 5th: Hello. My name is Shane. I'm using the ms2 v3.57 in a 1983 280zx non-turbo. It's using the original vr distributor. I have spark output on D14 with the 330 ohm resister and a single bip373. The car runs great until the bip373 gets hot then it starts misfiring. I've tried dwell settings from 2.5 to 4.0 and it still misfires. I've also replaced the bip373 twice and added some more heat sink. I've triple checked to make sure the bip373 is not shorted and has good grounds straight to the battery. I'm not sure what's going on because I have the ms2 v 3.0 that I assembled myself on my own 280zx turbo and have never had this problem. Here is the last email I sent you before you requested the datalog. Sorry I got busy and didn't get around to it: Hi. Last night I spent several hours trying to get this problem fixed. I ended up wiring the jumper with the 330 ohm resister that goes to the bip373 straight to the back side of the 40 pin dip to pin #7. I had it wired to SP1. I haven't been able to find any documentation on where exactly to install the jumper. Now it's not using the spark table and the trigger wizard has no effect. Other than that the car runs great. Attached is my latest msq file. Thanks...Shane
  6. The time span of the data log was only about 30-45 seconds. I think the data log is taking about 2 pictures a second. The car runs great hot and cold until the box gets too hot. I'm getting 30* with the timing light. It's set to 'use table'. Thanks
  7. 90 weight is the worst. I spilled some in my truck and had to throw all the carpet away. I broke up with my girlfriend so she bought a 280zx and wanted me to work on it. You know, after she found out I was dating someone else. We're back together now.
  8. I saw this video of an extremely quick 280zx while surfing through youtube. A member of this forum had said that it had an RB26 engine which inspired me to dig a little. DOOKIES appears to be an automotive shop in Japan. They do have a website and blog but it's in Japanese. This intake manifold is especially intriguing. It looks like a modified carb manifold. Also the turbo location and the fact that it appears to be a USDM model. Does anyone know more about this car? http://dookies.jp/concept/concept05.htm
  9. Not me. This is from Timz. I hope he doesn't mind...
  10. I just see an extremely hot engine that wouldn't last 100 miles and caburetor can only meter liquid fuel not a vaporous fuel.
  11. I will try to get the data log this weekend. The fuel map is also default except for the idle tune. This car doesn't have a wideband. I think the ign output is soldered to pin 7(?) on the 40 pin dip socket.
  12. I said the same about the videos. I thought the one about the drunk ant always falls over to it's right side was pretty funny. Sounds like myself.
  13. OK. I'll try that. How do I attach my msq file to this message?
  14. I was the one comparing 3.0 & 3.57. I don't like the 3.57 currently just because it just doesn't work well for me. I couldn't find info to set it up as info seems more abundant for the 3.0 and to this day ignition still doesn't follow the ignition map. It's just stuck at 30*. And it's the third megasquirt I've done so it should have been the easiest but was not the case. Also the box gets really hot and the engine starts cutting out after about a 20 mile drive. I've done everything to try to correct this. With my 3.0 that I assembled myself I can drive 80 miles to the dragstip, make 10 passes without much cooling time and drive 80 miles home and the car never misses a beat.
  15. The Slave-Maker ant is so named because it raids the nest of other ants and steals their pupae. Once the pupae hatch, they are made to work as slaves. Workers in an ant colony only live for about 45-60 days, but a colony's queen can live up to 20 years. Ants make up 1/10 of the total world animal tissue. The total biomass of all the ants on Earth is about equal to the total biomass of all the people. By combining force of numbers with organized aggression, ants have become the greatest insect killers on Earth -- even of their own kind. Ants began farming about 50 million years before humans thought to raise their own crops. The animal with the largest brain in proportion to its size is the ant. They are the smartest species of insects with about 250,000 brain cells. Barbie's full name is Barbara Millicent Roberts. There are 100 million internet users in China. Some of the sites they can't access are BBC news, Amnesty International and Dalailama.com. In 2006, there were 398 million mobile (or cell) phones in China. China is the source of 70% of the worlds pirated goods. 20% of the world's population lives in China. People spend about two weeks of their lives at traffic lights! Left handed people live slightly shorter lives than right handed people. Armadillos are able to contract leprosy. Ten years ago, only 500 people in China could ski. This year, an estimated 5,000,000 Chinese will visit ski resorts. The ant, when intoxicated, will always fall over to its right side. 16. The ms1 v2.2 will fire your coil but it will not advance or retard your timing. I ran the ms1 v2.2 at first but I blew a head gasket then broke a ring land. I'm now running a ms2 v3.0 and a ms2 v3.57 in two different 280zx L28 engines and the v3.0 is the better one in my opinion.
  17. There is a video on youtube of the straightening process. The guy has his phone number there so you can call and ask questions.
  18. We just got a phone line installed. The number is 478-745-0090. I will do lower rates on Z cars. Thanks
