  1. What do we do if it rains? Looking like 50% chance.
  2. so there will be a meet this weekend at Liane Levetan Park? What date and time?
  3. Sounds like you're not running an L6. What engine do you have? If it is an L6 I'd like to see what you've done to it. There is a race at silverdollar I believe a lot of Z guys go to that's held once a year.
  4. I did ok today. I'm having a small tranny problem. We were classed by tires today and I was the only import. We race heads up 1/8 mile. http://www.facebook.com/streetnite
  5. I'm using the rings that came with my ITM pistons. After several thousand miles and many 1/8 mile drag passes they are holding up well.
  6. Went back today. I discovered that it's caused by two problems. One was the rev limiter was set at 6000 so I bumped it to 6800. The second problem is the transmission is very hesitant to shift into third. Back to the drawing board...
  7. Sorry this got triple posted. I kept getting an error message.
  8. We need racers for the import class at Macon dragway for Sunday. Last week I was driving the only Z car. If there are at least ten cars the winner gets $125. Macon dragway, also called 'twiggs' is in Jeffersonville, Georgia off of exit 24 on I16 just south of Macon. For more info see 'street nite' on facebook. Hope to see you there.
  9. The n42 head would be better. It has the same sizes valves as the P90 but with a smaller combustion chambers. I'd like to trade my n42 for a P90. The P90 has shorter valves because of the raised combustion chamber.
  10. Well I went hoping to get some E.Ts but I found out that they call it street nites because it's 'arm drop' with no tree, no timing. It was really fun though. We raced from the end of the track where there was no rubber. I enjoyed eating V8 cars that couldn't get traction.
  11. i just spin the engine over without spark plugs until pressure builds. It takes a very long time. Using an old oil pump shaft may work but you'd have to pull the oil pump off several times
  12. I played with megasquirt a little. I will update after some testing
  13. I went to twiggs today and drag raced the z. By the way I highly recommend twiggs on sunday. The car ran great with one exception, the car ran so rich at 6000 rpm at 15 psi, like at shift rpm, that the car would bog down. I logged in to tunerstudio and tried to lower the fuel but had the same results. I''ve read a lot about this problem but no fixes. PLEase HELP . Thanks
  14. Yeah. I stopped by and we talked for a little while. He told me it was an LS1 though. Maybe he was being modest. Bring yours by sometime. I haven't taken mine down yet, I still live in Stockbridge.
  15. Thanks. We will be opening tomorrow. I will make a facebook page once we're settled in.
  16. 13.8 sounds a little lean. What spark plugs are you using? Like a bpr7es?
  17. I've heard of using a small bullet muffler to reduce in cabin drone but for only that reason. Maybe something smaller will be best like a Dynomax 24249.
  18. New tires today! Primewell PS830 very inexpensive tires. It's raining today and I already noticed the wet traction isn't as good as the Dunlops that I removed.
  19. By NE are you referring to northeast?...because of the hurricane right?
  20. The last thing I did to mine, other than look at it, was complete the full 3" exhaust. Which leads me to ponder why my AFRs are leaner now. I bumped the fuel pressure up a lil to compensate. I could retune but I have a cam swap planned and maybe a ported head swap too. So maybe I'll wait to tune.
  21. The book I was referring to is the "how to modify your Datsun" At the end of page 63 and beginning of 64 is where I read about the unnecessary expense of cams larger than .460". What I want is to shift at 6500-7k when drag racing. I was thinking relatively stock lift and added duration will allow the engine to breathe as I approach those shift rpms. I do plan on porting my head. I was thinking about using one of my N42. I have a CNC machinist whom I want to just CNC port the intake port inlet about 1/2" in to a diameter up to about 42mm. Then I will hand blend the rest. This N42 also appears to need a good bit of porting around the exhaust valve guide. What's your view Tony?
  22. I've already called him about a year ago. He recommends a cam that requires me to buy their springs, their retainers, and thier lash pads. It states in the datsun bible that more than .460" lift is not necessary for street applications.
  23. Hello. I hope posting this doesn't break the rules but I am opening an automotive repair shop in Macon Georgia. I want to get Z cars in there because I love them and love working on them(no surprise right?). The location is 710 2nd street in Macon, GA 31205. You can view the facility via Google street view. I was introduced to the Z car in 1994 when my mom bought the 1983 280zx that I now own. I have been a professional auto technician since 1998 and ASE certified since 2000. Feel free to stop by sometime. Thanks
