  1. Well of course it is rare but not $2k rare. Owner said he is a car dealer and bought it from a body shop that was going out of bizz. Sounds like he got it for free. Good eye Tony on the parts in the engine bay. He is about 3 hrs from me.....I was thinking someone could pick it up for about $500-$700 if euro tail lights were in good shape. Tony, does that number included the 2+2s?
  2. I love talking to people who own cars like this.......they try to sell this dream of how rare this car is and you won't find another one like it for the parts. I told this guy, I have owned every rare part on this car and sold it for USDM items http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DATSUN-FAIRLADY-Z-240Z-RIGHT-HAND-DRIVE-JAPAN-VERSION-/360320455399?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item53e4c5d2e7
  3. Yup Mario another place to save a few dollars. Here is what I would like my filler to look like. I plan to have my tank located much lower and flush with the trunk deck lid. Stole this pic from another member:
  4. SHO-Z ddi you ever sell your z?
  5. Ok guys after some reading and calling ATL today here is what I think I need to go with. I need to call again and hopefully get another rep who will be more helpful. Items: 1. Sport Cell Complete 12 gallon Part # SP112. I will upgrade to the AL box which is half the weight (10lbs) for $100. I will also change the filler neck to be on a 45 degree angle aiming towards our stock filler location. 2. Black-Box Surge kit Part # CFD-600-HP 3. Fuel Sending Unit Part # KS170 GM 0-90 Ohms That takes care of the actual cell items needed. I am also thinking about ordering and making the next item work. 4. Fill Cap Remote Part # TF429 Ok another question I have about the cell is, do I still need to run a vent line to the evap tank or get rid of it all together and let the cell vent to the atmosphere if it needs to vent at all. What have most of you guys used to pipe from the stock filler location to the cell. I can use the expen$ive clear hoses they have or maybe welding up some SS tubing? Ideas....hmmm. This setup will cost me a few hundred more bucks then planned but again.....can't put a price on safety!
  6. Mark, real concern is safety then the fuel starvation. Two years ago I spun in the esses at Watkins Glen and I remember sliding backwards praying not to hit sqaure in the rear. I looked down for the cam lock so I can get out ASAP just incase a fire started. Didn't the tank but don't ever want to have to think about it again.
  7. John you are correct for sure. Safety is def something I try to keep in mind esp since I have spun and hit at the track already. ATL is right down the road from me in Jersey. I should go down there and check them out. I rather spend x2 the money and drive in peace. I am thinking I can use one of the molded cells and drop it in a metal container to be safe. Hmmm more reading later today.
  8. No I am not dead set on anything and thanks for posting. Here goes the questions - Mongo what about it makes it not legal? Also I only do HPDE events with the car, no real "racing". I am trying to get rid of the external pump and worrying about where to mount it and all. I have beed fighting fuel starvation issues since I put the car together and I mean 4 gallons or so of gas in the tank. I would love to save some money on the setup so this is why I am posting =) Thanks again.
  9. Thanks Derek, now I have to relocate my ecu....count me in for a set @ $110 with mounting bracket.
  10. Well it has come time for me to switch to a fuel cell. This is a new area for me so I am looking for feedback and some info. I am thinking of having this all installed next week. Below is a link so part of a thread I was following which I like the install and how clean it appeared. http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/topic/95320-cutting-out-the-spare-tire-well/page__view__findpost__p__897317 Ok so below are the products I am thinking about going with: http://www.jegs.com/i/Aeromotive/027/18660/10002/-1 http://www.jegs.com/i/JAZ+Products/547/345-250-03/10002/-1 http://www.jegs.com/i/JAZ+Products/547/315-030-03/10002/-1 Tank, 15 gallons since I do drive the car to track events.....it isn't a race car yet. lol Then I wanted to buy a kit so I can try to use the stock filler neck location. In the perfect world, I would like to extend that filler neck all the way to the gas door area and use some type of flush mount gas neck and get rid of the Z twist cap. Hmmm, maybe a 280zx style or something newer. Anyway I am looking for feedback from those who have installed cells before or been around them long enough to see something I may be missing. I plan to have a "6 point" mounting system around the cell to keep it in place. With the fuel cell installed, I will be able to get rid of the e vap tank now? I saw in my 2/70 car there wasn't even one installed. Thanks ahead for feedback guys. Clive
  11. Looking forward to seeing this project and glad to hear you are going LSx.
  12. I am waiting to see the outcome of these. Cable, what exactly is the clearance issue?
  13. Yup Mike, the supra's engine is what I am going for next. Thanks. How is the zxt coming along?
  14. Cool, keep in mind my setup is- q45 diff ttt front mount MM axles complete w/new boots cv adapters 280z stub axles
  15. Need everything? I may sell my entire setup, we will talk soon.
  16. Well after a very busy summer, I am planning on the next few things for EVIL Z and #1905. EVIL Z has not seen much road time this past year and #1905 is in paint jail....still but I am ok with it. I have a garage to clean out to store one of the cars here in the city with me. Wish list for winter on Evil Z: Fuel cell Re-run fuel lines New front rotors New welded brace for rear diff Install heat New head and dyno tune Finish the last 10% of stuff needed to be done. I didn't have any real issues with the car this year and it performed well at the track this year. But there are a tone of things I am not happy with it and really plan to address them so I can drive the car more. #1905: I got this car for a great price and promised I wouldn't sell it. For some time I was back and forth between a resto or resto mod. I went with resto mod of course but said I would keep the motor a L series...blah blah blah. Well after sometime now, I have now started to sell off all the L series turbo parts I have. I always liked to have something different from the norm and always wanted a turbo car. With that said, I am going 2jz with #1905. Yes for the purist, a toyota engine This build will not take place until I finish EVIL Z and sold off most of my "extra" parts to fund this build. So you can look for new threads in the future about that build. So the next few months should be a good one and hopefully 2011 will be the year I really get back into my Z cars. Time will tell...lol
  17. Dave lies! I see him and his family for free! =) I would have to say my car buddies are Dave, Joe and an another z32 buddy who isn't on this site. Mainly I spent a lot of time @ Joes working on my car or just hanging out. In one sense all of my car friends are older than I am so I usually have more time on my hand then they do. I just moved back to NYC so I am a little further now but we are all friends and stay in touch weekly..cars or not.
  18. Scottie, sorry to hear about your dad. I was just thinking about you and your dad a few days. Hope you keep your spirits up during this time and I wil be sure to call soon. Glad you are ok also......car can be replaced.
  19. Nice! Here is an old one of mine when I first got my Z running....newbie!1
  20. What is the benifit of going this route vs switching out to LED bulbs using the existing sockets?
  21. I hope to one day run that track. Sounds like a great time. Mike the local PCA is running Watkins in Spet, you think you might be able to make that? I just love how laid back their events are!
  22. Thanks for the vids and pics. The spin was caused by two issues. One I suck and can't heel n toe and two I had brake issues. Ok, so after my first session I saw that I had a few stress cracks in the front rotors. By the middle of the second session I was getting a very bad pulse from the rotors that I could feel in the pedal and steering wheel. For the next 15 mins or so, I lifted early into every corner and down shifted to make each turn. The corner where I spun, I was coming in to hot and let the clutch out to quickly...end result...a spin. Not being able to heel n toe is really killing me and something I would really like to learn soon. I really think it is a hold back on me being a better driver. As for the PCA group, I would say the most laid back track day I have ever had! Great group of guys and to be honest I was suprised that they all liked my car. I loved their cars so I guess it was a Mike Kelly situation going on there...... Plans for the car.....fuel cell and figure out why I still have diff issues.
  23. Rust-less is my fav color! I like the 907 green...my fav Z color in stock form.
