  1. Looks like they are restructuring and going back to their core competencies rather than on other things. Sometimes it's good for a company to specialize in 1 or 2 things rather than on more. I hope they come out stronger than before. If Ronal buys them, that would not be such a bad option. Ronal may keep the brand name. Shoot, Ronal makes some nice wheels too. Let's hope they stick around. I like their designs despite not being able to afford them at present. Davy
  2. I like the look of the motor--I'd leave everything blue and red, and leave the engine block and head alone. The valve cover would look good either blue or red, but I vote for red. The red and blue make it all pop. I'm not sure about the black intake--that would look better "aluminum" or alloy color (same as head). Nice work! Davy
  3. Wow, that was an excellent find!! I can't believe you were able to score that for $400. I bet you can sell off the suspension pieces for much more than that and even pay for part of your build. Davy
  4. I am grinning from ear to ear seeing your car bolt from the line! Makes my heart glad to see a turbocharged V8 do it's thing Thanks for posting the video, Wayne--keep it up!!!!!!!!!! Davy
  5. You've made excellent progress and you are taking the time to do it right. It's good to see careful work that's well thought out. Keep it up. I didn't read the specs on your motor. If this Vortec was from a truck, it will most likely top out at fairly low rpm. You probably already know that and will make some changes in the future I'm sure, but for now you'll actually have a fast car that runs well. Nice. Davy
  6. LOL! Happy Birthday Paul!!! You are DA MAN!! Davy
  7. Good to have you here. A few members have original Scarabs and they are truly coveted for their rarity. Have a beer and enjoy the site. Nice Cobra by the way... Davy
  8. Man, I'll say you got off easy with that one! Looks like a fuel line let go or something?!? Not fun for sure. Glad that you (and the car) are OK after that. Safety is good. Safety fast is better. Davy
  9. My deepest condolensces to you and your family, Scottie. As was said, the car can be replaced. I'm sure you will think of something soon. Best wishes to you. Take care, man. Davy
  10. I really like the car. The video was pretty cool too. Hey, we need more tire smoke and road carniage It's good to see that car on the road and making noise. When Lazon (?) first sold it, I thought we wouldn't seee it any longer. Thanks for posting! Davy
  11. I'm curious to see if you came up with a solution for this. From the front view, it appears that the bumper is not equidistant at each end from the hood--basically, the gap is wider between the hood and bumper on the driver's side. It appears that you should bring the bumper up just a tad on the driver's side. So far, the work looks pretty darn good! Davy
  12. Woohoo! Congrats! I think 11th is excellent considering there were over 100 cars there. Very respectable in my personal opinion. Davy
  13. Anyone that has done some research on V8 Porsche conversions also knows that same thing we do with our Z cars: if done properly, the weight difference will be minimal and the increase in power will be substantial. The comparison of Chevy V8 weight is similar to a twin turbo Porsche engine. When I found that out, the conversion in the 911 made sense to me. I'd love to have one, but I will stick to Z cars because I already have one. It's true that the Porsche V8 conversion has nothing to do with Z cars. True, this thread is in the wrong forum; I'll move it in time. However, it's cool to see what some others are doing and what your next project might be! Davy
  14. So your name is really Matt Dillon? Anyway, the car looks good, but what hits me is the $25,000 price tag. It's being brokered so that means they are taking a big cut for themselves. I think the price is way too high for a 1980 Porsche Targa. I personally would not necessarily pay more for this car than what a stock Targa (or one with similar mods aside from the engine) would sell for. A V8 conversion doesn't make it worth more... About the conversion itself...well, Renegade Hybrids has been around for a while and they know their stuff. From what I know they have solid kits and I don't hear of too many complaints. I did research the V8 conversions for Porsches a number of years ago and Rod Simpson & Renegade Hybrids were at the top of my list for conversion kits. Bottom line though is what an individual is willing to pay for such a vehicle. I wouldn't pay this much for it, but then again, I am not you. I think in terms of what I could build for $25,000. I would not look down on you for buying it, but I personally would not pay that much... Davy
  15. Looks like you did a great job! It's looking REALLY clean like that. The ZX bumpers are too big for the car and detract from the looks, but I'm sure they make the car safer too. Still, your car is probably much safer than a 240Z WITH bumpers. Davy
  16. I hope you win! I think you will be a MAJOR target of hijinks. Ha! I will read about it in a number of magazines I'm sure. Alle the best!!! Davy
  17. Wow, it's looking almost too organized now. Nice work, especially the floor. I shudder to think about having to do the same to mine. I finally moved my shelving around (I have those Gorilla shelves) so I have enough room to truly work on the car. The car comes first, then the walls & floor. Davy
  18. Mike the lift looks really good. I like the way your garage ceiling slants and gives you ample room to lift a car way up there. Will it still do taller vehicles like SUVs and give you the same room underneath too? If I recall correctly, this was custom made shop you built out back of your place, right? Looks great inside; makes me want to paint my floor and get my sheetrock painted. Davy
  19. "Wow there's nothing like the sound of a small-bore V12!" "I agree!" "What's the horsepower, like 350?" "Yeah, like three and change..." Like heck it is. At least he has good taste in hats & sunglasses Davy
  20. I totally agree. I liked everything about it: the way it was filmed, the music, the cars. Now I have to watch the movie Le Mans tonight. Davy
  21. That was a very good documentary. Yes, I looked at the cars more than I paid attention to what was being said, and yes, I loved that bug-eyed Sprite! Good golly Miss Molly she was fast around that track. Seems like it was a turbocharged Hyabusa powered Sprite or something like that? Thanks for posting. Davy
  22. Very nice work. The lines are just right Davy
  23. ^^^Looks like the same thing on my silver Z car, but mine was paint in a satin finish. I think it looks good and am contemplating keeping the theme once I repaint. Have you thought about clearing over it to give it some gloss instead of the matte finish? Davy
  24. They also have 3/8" SS pre-bent fuel line, which is really cool, especially if you are running a V8. Stainless is good for just about any kind of fuel. Davy
