  1. Thanks Tim! It was a locked thread and it 'unstuck' when I messed with it. Davy
  2. ...and on the street... I would keep the more comfortable car for the street if I had to drive it everyday in the commute (BMW) and the more 'fun' car for the track (Z). That's purely from my own experience. Age, enthusiam, and bright ideas aside lol. Davy
  3. Each state in the US is different and so is what they require. Our DOT (Dept of Transportation) does not apply to the states testing each vehicle annually, only new ones coming into the country. In California, we are extremely lazy at testing for anything but smog/emissions. Lawsuits keep the truly bad cars off the road anyway. The new wheels are much better looking since they have a negative offset look about them. I like them more, but wonder what would 18" wheels look like on the ZX. They should look good provided the car stays low to the ground. Davy
  4. Our thought and prayers are with the family. What a loss at such a young age. Davy
  5. Ernie, I think that he'll have some legal issues to deal with once he does it. No, I don't know the CA laws that well, but just common sense tells me that we'd see more cars on the road with "chrome" paint if it were legal. The glare issue is the first thing I think of. I cannot see how this would be safe for other drivers. Good thing you sent him off to someone else... Davy
  6. Arif, Good to see you back once again. You can upload pictures of you car to HybridZ now and we can host them for free. It's a little better IMO than the outside sites, but do what you want! Good thing you were able to keep the car even though you had a kid (congrats BTW). Davy

    Great buy!!!!

I think a ceiling price of $4000 would be it. From his description, this car is actually in the $3000 to $4000 range. I'm being serious and realistic here. Davy
  8. I'd personally like to thank everyone who donates this time and has even donated in the past. More than a few members have been EXTREMELY generous in the past ($$$) and have footed a lot of the burden. I know not everyone has a lot of money to throw around, so please know that even $20 can make a difference and keep the site humming along. We have not officially asked for donations for a while and many of you generously contributed in the past. The donations keep the site going and also help to ensure that it runs smoothly. None of the admin are paid and Dan foots most of the cost himself. We're talking about the ongoing maintenance and ISP costs to the tune of more than $2k per year, so Dan needs us to help out. The cost of upgrades, whether software or hardware, is considerably expensive as well. I'm not as eloquent as some of the other admin in making such request, but I'll be darned if I'm not as passionate for this site!!! You can donate very easily by using the "Donate" button in the "HybridZ" menu on the top left of the page. The last donation drive went very well, and we are hoping for a similar response again this time around. Remember that this site saves us all money and effort though the information on this site. Davy
  9. LOOKIN' GOOD, JEFF! Keep up the awesome work. Love the look of the new dash. I knew it was going to turn out great, but it's blowing me away!! Nice work, man. Davy
  10. If you use the car for very 'spirited' driving, whether on the track or, God forbid, the street, then by all means pony up and install some strut bars. I do think there are other places to spend the money, but again, all we know is that your car is a ZX. Davy
  11. Congrats Paz, You'll love it when it all comes together. It sounds like you are making great progress. Be sure to bless us with some pictures when you get the chance. Just upload them to the website. Davy
  12. It's actually time to beat the donation drum again and upgrade. We have not had a fund drive for quite a while and this will give us a reason to upgrade as well! Look for a post in the Non-tech forum soon. Davy
  13. Thanks for the update on Mr Hammond. I hope his noggin is still working after he gets out of the hospital. The "significant brain injury" part of the article is of concern to me. Davy
  14. Richard is a kick! I love him & the rest of the team on the show. God help him in his time of need. I hope he pulls through quickly!! Davy
  15. Thanks, Bud. Good luck selling your cars. Sorry to see them go... Davy
  16. http://home.earthlink.net/~dvgreimann/index.html Dave still has his webpage up despite the fact he went Porsche on us. Bless his heart. Davy
  17. Good! At least now you have a fighting chance. Many of the credit card companies will refund your money, although that is most likely with a transaction related to a store or company, but who knows? Check with their customer service department and read the fine print on your last statement. I'm not sure why more people don't post something like "Who can vouch for 'so and so'?" If no one answers, then they're probably not someone you want to send money to. Good luck! Davy
  18. Dang I love that paragraph. Just beautiful. Davy

    Think!!!

And to just add a little bit to what Mike just said, if you want the members to take your post seriously, use proper grammar. Seriously! You would be surprised to find out how much better your response will be if you do it. Since we don't have a grammar or spell check as part of the messages, a helpful hint is to type out what you want to say on MS Word, spell check it, and then cut & paste to HybridZ. It’s quite simple and efficient. Many of the members with 'supreme' knowledge on this site are engineers and professionals, and they just don't want to take the time to answer a post that's written in ghetto slang. Davy
  20. Dale, It's what I do for a living, so I'll give you my $.02 FWIW. The hardwood looks better IMO and would give a better return on investment in that people buy what they see, especially the people that are into details. Many times the detailed work that goes into installing anything makes even more difference than the material used. A pristine laminate job is better than a sloppy hardwood job IMO. But, all things being equal, hardwood is nicer. I would, however, weigh the costs of each. If you are just throwing something in there right before you sell, consider the costs involved before doing so. Spending money on 'staging' the house makes the house look more appealing despite whatever type of flooring you have. Just my $.02 Edit: the one thing that bothers me about cheap laminate is the pooching up of the ends, but that's usually due to improper installation (pet peeve of mine). Hardwood also will do the same and expands and contracts. Make sure the installation is CORRECT and you'll be fine either way. Davy
  21. Cyrus, I have the McMaster door weatherstrip in my Z. Be prepared to cut to length and then mate the open ends together with some sort of glue or silicone. I'm not sure there is a 'best' place to do this. I think you'll get opinions on the upper 90 degree corner where the window frame is and also in the middle of the section that runs along the floor (where my old strip was connected). I'm not sure what area is best, so hopefully someone else will chime in if they've done it successfully. Davy
  22. The short answer is "no." Pete is the fiberglass guy I was (am?) working with to get these things made. His last post was today, which states:
  23. Man, I feel stupid---that's the place I was talking about. They are about a mile from my house and changed their name to "Cresco" rents (not to confused with "Crisco" the oily semi-solid fat your mom used to fry chicken in). They are pretty cool there BTW. Good luck! Davy
