  1. Having owned a number of these 2 and 7 series cars, I can tell you that ANY Chevy V8 will make for an improvement over the N/A cars. They are slow as all get out, but they are comfortable cars that are tough as nails. Perhaps one of the safest cars to be in when in an accident. That wagon would do well with ipd suspension teeks and some decent wheels & tires. Nice daily driver that can haul the Lab in the back as well. Davy
  2. I'm nearly positive the mounting bosses are the same for both blocks, so the 454 should bolt in. At least the 396 and 427 do. I think Michael and Corzette both have Zs with BBCs. They are most qualified to talk about it. Guys? Davy
  3. Yep, he has some great products--I have used a number of them and have been happy with ALL of them. I wuold love the boar's hair brush he sells for washing a car---that's the ultimate for getting off 2 years worth of dirt without harming the finish or DRAGGING a rag or sponge with all that grit across the surface of the paint. I just purchased some of Griot's micro fiber wash mits but have yet to use them. Davy
  4. Gollum, What you need is to get on the phone and call a number of rental places (like Centerville Rents in Fremont) and ASK them if they'll rent you a towing dolly for a SMALL car. It is totally worth your time to do this and you'll be using your own truck. Many rental place are pretty cool, but you have to know how to ask them to get the answer you want. Just tel them you are checking prices and when you hear one you like, get into the other information immediately and ask, "Will that be a problem?" There are dozens of rental companies in the Bay Area. Do not bother with Hertz or Uhaul. I NEVER do. Best wishes, Davy
  5. Man, I'm truly jealous! That's an awesome score for a piddly amount of money. You're miles ahead getting a near complete car like that when you already have a good motor in hand. Nice! Oh yeah, post some pics!! Davy
  6. Yes, I agree that overall the JTR conversion is superior, but for all out drag racing like JNJ do, I don't think it will make that much of a difference actually. Mikekz: BINGO! They sure do look like exhaust hangers. Davy
  7. It's fantastic that you are starting with such a nice example of a Z. Now you are just enhancing the car and making it better. I think you'll be the envy of every man in Melbourne. Let us know what the performance is like when you're finished!!! Davy
  8. Update: I ended up putting even more slack into the hand brake/emergency brake adjustment cable that runs along the frame rail to the back. This completely solved the problem. This also makes me wonder who adjusted the cable originally and why---makes no sense to me at all. Thanks BJ & Jody for the help! Davy
  9. That was really cool of you to post that. That's why this site is the best. Davy
  10. It looks nearly identical to the JTR mount, but it includes some "doubler plates" that are placed in the interior (other side of the floor). Don't go there IMO. Davy
  11. Yes, but MANY really liked him, myself included. I never saw him as representing the "true Australian." OK, so he was over the top, but so are many entertainers from here, there, and everywhere. My kids liked him a lot too. I feel very sorry for his family. Davy
  12. Fess up, Justin. Is this your car or are you posting some nice photos of a car you looked at? Considering the body kit, the price isn't too far off. OK, I'll give you $2,000 and some luggage j/k Davy

Oooh, I'm actually lusting for the wheels on your truck---are those CCW's?!? They look like it from the angle. Anyway, sweet truck! Davy
  14. Yes, there will be something of that nature coming down the pike. It takes time to organize it due to the amount of information to sort through. Be patient, Grasshopper. It will allow someone to go straight to the information/facts in a pointed manner. The forums, however, will remain largely the same. Davy
  15. NNOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! : We don't like strobe lights! *Ugh* Well...I guess if it is for the car shows.... Davy
  16. Jake, you don't have to pull the engine to stab in a new cam, but you will have to remove the radiator and grill to get room...maybe the hood too. You can run the engine stock as is, no worries there, but when you finally do change out the cam, you'll have to install new lifters. That is more involved and requires removal of the intake. It's more work doing that way, but you have to choose. I wonder if changing out the cam now, when the engine is new, will void the warranty? My guess is yes. Buy a GM engine that fits your needs as close as possible so you'll have nothing to do for a looong time. My $.02 Davy
  17. If you like the look of gold zinc plating but don't want to pony up to the cost, get Eastwood Co.'s simulated cadmium plating kit. If done correctly, it comes out looking cadmium plated. It will be unique looking, fer shur. EDIT: zinc is silver, not gold like I stated. Sorry, the wine is getting to my head... Davy
  18. Guys, the lines aren't really all that bad, and these airdams like this get a lot of attention. By closing the upper ducts/vents, it'll look better, but it's really not that bad. I would enlarge the upper vents and put in fog lights. This airdam is at the very least creative. Just my $.02 Davy
  19. Ah, now that makes sense! I think they carbed most of the cars that went to Asia and Europe. Thanks. Davy
