  1. This is a great rendering. I think the lines work very well for a ZX. Wish it was kit! Davy
  2. I like them. I have them on my L6 240Z, but may swap out for coil-overs for my 350 Chevy if need be. I'm going to try to use them since I do like the ride and the firmness. I really have no complaints with them. $189 is a steal IMO. Davy
  3. Update: I cancelled out trip to So Cal. I'm in too much pain from the back spasms. On the upside, I think that with the two suggestions from BJ and Jody that I have the problem solved. The handbrake cable was slightly re-routed for the tubular Westin step rails. I think that is where the real problem is (I wonder who installed them ) Davy
  4. Jody, I'll do that this morning. My wife doesn't feel safe travelling in the truck (we're supposed to have left this morning already). I'll be working on the truck while I deal with a muscle spasm in my back (I think I pulled something yesterday doing the brakes). Anyway, thanks for the suggestions, guys!! Davy
  5. Thanks BJ, I know about the adjuster wheel. I had to screw it down to create enough space so that the drum could be slid on. Perhaps it needs to be screwed down all the way?? I'm really at a loss with this problem. I can't seem to figure it out. I'm nearly 100% sure that I installed everything correctly. I don't think I FUBARed anything in particular. It's almost like a the cable (if it were cable actuated; it's not--it's hydraulic) to that side is shorter or something. Grrrrr. Davy
  6. I know, it's not a Z, but I have some issues with my '95 Chevy Suburban brakes. I have not changed the rear shoes in the 2.5 years I have owned the truck. I changed everything today, but noticed that the right rear drum heats up like crazy (smells bad & lotsa heat) after a 5 mile freeway cruise. There is no binding and the thing stops fine. No squeeling or anything, but heat & smell from the right rear drum. When I took all the brakes apart, the left front pads were more worn and so were the right rear shoes than the others. I suspect that the truck had the problem before I bought it, but I have intensified the problem with the new shoes. Anyone have something similar happen to them and what did you do about it? I have never had something like this happen so I'm not sure what's up. Davy

    M coupe

I'll take the new one. The old one reminded me of a tennis shoe... Look at the old one and think "sneaker." The Viper convertible is the low-top version of the same thing. Davy
  8. Ya think?!? Looks narly, Phil. I feel your pain---I've been jamming the big toe about once a week now for three weeks. It doesn't bend much.... I think you are a glutton for punishment Davy
  9. It is also an overdrive (4 speed) automatic transmission that came in GM vehicles, most notibly the Buick Grand Nationals. It is a strong transmission and roughly similar in size to a Turbo350 tranny. The 700R4, a more common GM transmission, is longer and heavier. Davy
  10. LOL! Glad to hear you have it all back together and the car is running soundly. The hood work is really good looking from the picture and looks right at home on the Z. Funny, but I never thought of a cowl hood on a Z32 before. Thanks for the update! Davy
  11. Yummy! It's so candy-like I want to eat it Great pic for a color!!!!! Davy
  12. I'm very impressed with your flame work and it would look good on the Z, but that is your choice: how much, where on the car, etc. I think you paint them well enough that they would look great on the car. How long have you been painting flames and how did you learn the technique? Do you paint for a living or is this a hobby? Flame any other cars as well? It all looks good! Davy
  13. My favorite comic strip of all time! I'm sure no one notices... Davy
  14. My vote is for the flat black. I think it looks great on the bumpers and the vents. I'd love to see the "package" in person as I believe it would be even better in person; trying to absorb the whole effect on separate photos is a bit difficult, but I'll use my imagination....I like it! Davy
  15. Ooops, sorry Larry! It's nothing personal I swear! LOL, I'm a sucker for looks and the 6-71 just looks better IMO Like comparing Selma Hayek to the girl next door....am I digging myself a deeper hole? Davy
  16. Perhaps a vent I spy with my little eye?? Looks good right there too! Keep at it--it'll be great AND have room for dogs in the back. What more can you ask for? Davy
  17. There is nothing wrong about getting the tank cleaned out. Does the ease of working with a stock tank outweigh the additional cost of a new tank + fabrication time & cost? That's the question only you can answer. I'd like a foam filled tank like my friend Auxilary is using, but it requires more fab than the stock tank with 3/8 inch plumbing I already have, so I'm using the stock, modified tank. Davy
  18. I have seen photos on ebay in the past of a 302 Ford in the engine bay of the Roadster. It fits (barely) because it is narrower than the SBC. As A.G. just mentioned, it will require some surgery to get the Chevy to fit. Personally, I would go with the Ford for this particular swap, if you want a V8 in the Roadster. Otherwise, you'll end up making a custom frame for the car and perhaps a custom front suspension. The Roadster was never meant to have anything other than a 4 banger under the hood, unlike the Z car. Even the 510 has room for a V6 or the L6 under the hood (barely). I'm not trying to discourage you, just sharing what I know about them. We had two Roadsters in the family years ago. I'll try to find a pic... Look how tight the Ford is in there. Imagine the Chevy...Oh, BTW, this is NOT a pic of my brother's Roadster. I do not own this car. Davy
  19. Pretty stunning car! I'm amazed at the size of those 6-71 blowers! They look better than the more wimpy ones for the 'street.' Please let us know when you get some time slips You should be proud. Now how much $$$$ will it take for your son to buy it back when finished?? Davy

    Oakland PD

This is because once they have worked in Oakland, that goes on the resume and they can write their ticket ANYWHERE after that. If I was a small town looking for some police officers and I had men apply from Oakland PD, you'd bet I'd take a look at hiring them since they have been through more in Oakland than they would get anywhere else. I have a friend from high school in the Oakland PD and he's still working there that I know of. I used to work in Oakland and I'd see him on occassion. He was pulling in so much OT that he was investing his money in real estate. I was making roughly $50,000 to $75,000 on Broadway and he was making at least $125,000 due to OT. I'm sure he makes more now. He once told me in all the years he worked the beat, he only had to pull his gun out once. On the other hand, my other friend who worked in Oakland PD after the special forces said he had to do much more than that... I suppose it is what you want to risk. Is it worth the money? That's the question you must answer for yourself. Davy
  21. I had a friend who had the same car in high school. The halfshafts and rear end would be my biggest concern over the chassis in general. He snapped a half shaft or a U-joint (if I remember correctly) after a while with the stock motor doing burnouts. I never snapped any halfshafts or U-joints in my 510 with the stock motor, even with big tires. Will you be keeping the rear end stock??? Very cool project BTW. Even though the Spitfires seem tin-like to me, they are fun, handle well, and look good Davy
