  1. Pure music--the exhaust note at speed. I think I got the chills... Davy
  2. You would do well to search on the forum and find somelinks to some of the sites where guys have turbocharged V8s. Seriously, I don't think 550 hp or more is out of order with the right turbo, but you will have to upgrade the injectors (FOR SURE) to get anywhere near that. I don't pretend to be an expert on this, but this will be my next engine build. You can go big single turbo (no too big) to avoid the extra plumbing and costs associated with a dual setup or you can run duals. Get Maximum Boost by Corky Bell and Turbochargers by Hugh McInnes. McInnes also has a fuel injection book that is great as well. The more you learn about forced induction, especially turbocharging, the more you'll realize that it is totally the way to go as far as HP is concerned. Davy
  3. Looks like someone spent a fortune in paint and graphics....for the underside of the car... Who paints the underside of the car??? I'm impressed, but does the car actually drive on the public roads? Nice and clean. Love the motor Davy
  4. ...as with about 90% of the Z and V8 parts that I have now... I have budget built, collected, and horsetraded for what I have. Most are good quality parts too. Now I just need some time to put it all together *ugh* : Davy
  5. You might find at least one member using the same headers. Do a search for QP1000 and you may find something. I don't remember anyone saying they didn't fit the car... Davy
  6. Such a sweet motor install! This looks really great---I'm glad someone had the cajones to put one in!! Nice work Davy
  7. I personally like the dual lights better--it breaks away from the 'old' and looks a bit more modern. I'm sure that plenty of guys here like the single headlights too. All in all, I doubt that it matters which way you go if you fab something up--both will look pretty good. Davy
  8. I guess you're not impressed with subtlety Nice looking kit for the Chevy V8. I have a single (Cartech) turbo manifold for a small block, so I'll end up using that instead of going with a twin setup. I'm still trying to decide carb or EFI, but carb would be many dollars cheaper for me at this point. Tuning is a concern.... Davy
  9. That sounds like a labor of love to me. At least the car DID come out looking quite the business and I'm sure you're proud. Makes me wish you were here in NoCal and I'd let you have at it with my 240Z LOL! Shoot, I'd even pay you. I hope I can hook up with someone here that can shoot my car for no too much dough. I never laugh at what car or what make the paint came from---some of the best colors are from "uncool" cars. Heck, like you said, the paint was affordable. Besides no one else knows (except anyone using the internet...) Heck yes. Looks like you are doing a great job. Nice to have friends to help out and help you learn Davy
  10. Lots of money in that car. Appears to be a mixture of what he likes best in Z cars and pretty well executed and definitely cool, just not what I'm gonna do. I would like to see time slips for that thing. Davy
  11. Scottie, You can do the same to the Z or just go with a turbo ZX motor--a direct bolt in affair. This site started as a V8 swappers site and is geared toward that. The best in domestic powerplants for the Z have to be the LS1 & LS2 motors. Both can be upgraded to make a ton of power and they have truckloads of torque to boot. Use the search function on the site and do what reading you can on the 240Z in general. You might want to buy the JTR manual to give you some ideas about what is possible for the Z. Davy
  12. Yes, I do remember the group buy and the lengthy thread about them. Your designs were really good and the examples were great! Just wasn't for me (no $$$) back then Davy
  13. It just took a while to get going. Sometimes life 'happens' and things get put on hold, but I think we're gaining momentum now. The 510 pieces are trick and these should be no different...in fact I think they'll be better since they have curves. Again, I appreciate the parts to make this happen, Jaime! Davy
  14. These are just the interior fiberglass panels. The armrest would most likely add to the cost and complexity to it all. The problem is nothing will completely satisfy all the people all the time. I will mention it to him though--it's not a bad idea. Davy
  15. That 510 will look completely trick when that front is done. Nice work!! I like the idea of coming down from the front bumper---this is similar to what a lot of bodykits do from fiberglass, but this is better: METAL. Davy
  16. OK, After finally getting going on this project, my friend is getting the mock up for the mold done. I think Jaime240Z was the guy responsible for the original 240Z door panels we are using initially (thank you Jaime!) and this work finally starting. The speaker is a 6.5" and looks kinda small on the panel, but is located such that the window crank will not interfere. It turns out that the 240Z door is made in such a way that a SMALL amount of metal will have to be trimmed on the inside of the door to give some room for a speaker magnet. The size of the magnet on the speaker will determine how much you'll need to cut from the door. Note that the metal is not an integral structural part, so your door should be fine. My apologies on how long this is taking, but life gets extremely busy at times. Bear with us and there should be a final product soon *hopefully*. Here are some pics of the mockup: I promise that it'll look like something good once we get a final fiberglass panel together! Davy
