  1. I can relate: I did a Volvo 6 cyl diesel swap when I was in my early 20's. Getting no help was a bit hard, but I trudged through it! I'm blown away that the city allowed you to work on the car in the street. Most cities have an ordinance that prevent people from doing that and they make sure to enforce it by sending over the police Good work!! Davy
  2. I loved the movies from the 1970's--less dialogue and more action. Almost "moody" in a way. This movie and Lemans with Steve McQueen are a couple of my favorites. Thanks for posting that, Pete!! Davy
  3. Mat, I'm still awaiting mine too, but I'll post when I get it! Davy
  4. I saw the ads for Brett's old car on Craigslist. You have bought it from the person who bought it from him. The car was great when we saw it last and it performed very well too. I think Brett had worked out any bugs in the conversion and sold it a year or two afterward. He did some nice work on that car. Congrats on your purchase. The car should be fine to drive daily from what I remember of it. Davy
  5. Why, yes it is. Even though we have made it more complicated to get there (you can't 'accidentially' show up there, now you have to click at least twice LOL), it still gets all sorts of non-Chevy engine questions. We're trying to police it and send non-Chevy topics to their respective forums. The reason they show up there is that most Hybrid swaps are Chevy and the guys get so comfortable there that they just post without thinking about the question they are asking. Davy
  6. 'Cause he likes us Looking good with the wheels and everything. I second the ZG flares--goota put those babies under the body!! Nazar, I'm moving this to the body & paint forum later... Davy
  7. Scott, I'm guessing it is the "door welting" that you are talking about. You can also try http://www.datsunrestore.com for the parts as an alternative, but I'm not sure since I don't have a picture, but I'm fairly sure that's it. Davy
  8. Too bad. Andy, I bet you end up fabricating a complete system from scratch and throwing away the Dynomax poop. Best of luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why sidepipes anyway? Is it the '70's thing. Hah, and here I thought I was older than you Davy
  9. Just get a "drop base" air cleaner and those are about as low as you can go. They come in standard 14" size and are cheap---go to ebay. Davy
  10. Vin, As you may or may not have read, the WC T5 is pretty stout EXCEPT if you beat on it drag racing. My friend Mike D (73BOTIZ) had a very built 355 that was pushing at least 400 hp and he beat on it once in a while with no ill effects. Do a search on the T5 and you'll find a lot of info. Davy
  11. First place!?! Woohoo! Congrats! Sounds like people there at Branson have taste! Love that Scarab BTW. Davy
  12. Hubert, that post is two years old. You may have more luck emailing or PMing the guys who wrote that. Davy
  13. Tim, just what material is the seat made from? It looks like someting other than plain jane plastic. Hmmm. Nice kart. Davy
  14. Pete, I hope you recover from this very quickly! Your posts made me start thinking because I just tore/pulled a number of muscles in my lower back on Friday!! I have been out of it the entire weekend: no cars, work, repairs, no fun with the kids, nothing. Its Monday now and I can actually stand up reasonably straight. As for you, my friend, I can only imagine the pain and out of commission experience. I hope it all comes out in the end for you such that you fully recover. Oh yeah, no more lifting engine blocks!! Davy
  15. Aren't those 5 lug stub axles works of art?!? Man, the first time I saw them in real life I thought to myself that they were actually too nice to put on the car! Looks like everything is coming along just fine, but what will the ride height be like with the 18's? Even with the coil overs I wonder if the car will look a tad too high? Just curious. Post a pic of the car on the ground when all is finished! Nice install work BTW. Davy
  16. Lewis, he did at the top of his post: straight gas = LPG (propane). No one on the forum is running propane, although I have thought about running a turbocharged V8 on propane. Buuut, I think I'll stick with gasoline until it gets to $5.00/gal. Davy
  17. I'll let him know you have very little time before the show to get it ready and hopefully he'll kick it up a few notches. Remember they are holes for 6.5" round speakers. Davy
  18. I have seen some trick looking breathing setups on fabricated valve covers, but I can only assume they work since I never asked the guy if he would set it up the same way. Picture this: a 90 degree angle fitting off of the end of the valve cover to a braided steel line and merging with the same thing from the other side to a common vent. I saw this years ago, but I was impressed by the way it looked. Again, this was on a show car and I didn't get to ask how well it worked; I can only assume it did. Not cheap, but trick looking anyway. Davy
  19. Norm, since we're dealing with older used parts (it was used wasn't it?) the rear diff gears are certainly parts whose longevity could be questionable. You are not the only one who has had that problem BTW. Hope you can get another! Davy
  20. Dan's right. We have no desire to make plain panels. The whole idea (for us anyway) is to make some panels with speaker provisions. Update: Pete is nearly finished with the final panel ready to cop a mold from--man, I'm getting anxious!!! Davy
  21. Alright alright, let's keep it civil. I think the "pussy" comments were mostly jokes. There are a lot of guys in the forum that have lower hp V8 cars...but I can't think of any right now No, seriously, nothing wrong with a relatively stock V8---but I would take the advice and swap in a good cam AFTER you get some heads---that way you'll know what to get that will optimize your hp without riuining streetability. Nothing worse than an overcammed motor (makes less hp than a milder cam sometimes!). Just read more about cam selection once you have chosen your heads. The Vortecs are a good choice, but aluminum is better...Just my $.02 Davy
