  1. Ah the controversy. I've thought about asking but I've asked about others before and I thought I would stay out of it. It's just weird to see a seemingly productive user get banned and really have no explaination as to why. He did have a pretty good run however for only being here a year.... Almost 1,900 posts in right at a year is somewhat impressive.
  2. Yeah, advance timing until you smell coolant, then back off 2 degrees.
  3. I agree that the 4l60 is strong enough for anything but huge power if built accordingly. There are people running 2004r (700r4/4l60's smaller brother) behind big blocks. Personally I think the 2004r is the ticket with the closer gearing and lighter weight however I'm not sure about mating it to the gen3 block. I think the 4l80 is overkill for anything under say 500hp to be conservative.
  4. Welcome. As far as the ka, throw in what you got. I can't stand not to drive my car for more than a few days and I can't even imagine having one and not being able to drive it for an extended period of time. If you don't understand you definitely will after you get the ls2 in.
  5. I'm afraid to ask because it says DON'T ASK but I guess now's as good of a time as any. What happened that pisses you off. I must have missed it. :hopes he doesn't get banned:
  6. if you want to go the cheap route just use the good cat. A muffler shop won't charge you more than a few buck to weld one in I wouldn't think.
  7. I have to vote definitely not while I'm at it. All you have to do is figure out why the wire is getting hot and replace those wires. NO reason to redo the whole thing and IMO you're asking for a headache.
  8. I must agree that my sanderson headers were very well made. I had ebay cheapo headers that I modified for the ZX. I finally broke down and bought the headers from JTR and I have been very happy with them. I have had no sealing problems for close to 9 months and I move a bit of air through them .
  9. good idea, I would have never thought of that
  10. Twin turbos. I would settle for a single turbo or a blower.
  11. Turns out my Serial port was conflicting with the IR port. I changed the IRQ and I'm in business now. I wish I could change the title of this thing. I sound illiterate. Here's a link to my msefi thread: http://www.msefi.com/viewtopic.php?t=25352
  12. Ok, I got it connected to my desktop and poked around a little bit. I'll have to spend a little time and try to figure out what's using my COM1 port on my laptop. It just says unable to open in Megatune and Hyperterminal says that another program is using it. Any ideas? I've got an old Armada, 233mhz, 160mb ram, windows XP. I'm about to compare running services in msconfig. If that doesn't work I really don't have much more of a clue. I've already closed every running program other than the system files with no luck.
  13. Have you done it before? I piddled with it for a few minutes and figured it needed something more and that I needed to figure out what the lights are among many other things. I tried to test the connection while the light was still on and nothing changed. Maybe I'll try it with one of my desktops tomorrow.
  14. Well...... The middle light comes on and then goes off after a few seconds. Nothing else.
  15. Man, after seeing Z-Gads setup and hearing that it went into the 8's I was pretty sold on the whole 2JZ w/ 400th or powerglide I guess. The thing just looks sweet. Makes me want to put in some serious overtime and get one.
  16. I know I'm dangerous so I thought I would ask before I try this. I have a 12v power inverter and I just loaded Megatune 2.25 onto my OLD trusty laptop. All I really want to do is establish that I CAN communicate between the two (maybe retrieve the VE table from it or something similar). From the diagram I get that wires 7,8,9,10,11, and 15 are grounds and wire 28 is just straight power. No fuse but I've used the inverter many times and never burned anything up yet and don't plan on crossing any wires. Is this a sound idea? Why so many grounds? Thanks.
  17. I just found this and thought it was very appropriate: http://www.mez.co.uk/ms4.html
  18. kind of hard to see. The cam might be for a small block, don't know if there would be a difference.
  19. Well, I went though it on Saturday of week before last. I didn't replace anything, just switched the floats from prim. to sec. The power valve held suction against my thumb for as long as I cared to hold it and I cleaned everything out pretty good. I didn't look at the needle and seat on the power valve because I didn't think about it at the time. Setting the thing on rags is not a bad idea. Where is the vent tube? I started another thread about this in the non-tech board a few days ago because noone replied to this one. Then all of the sudden today all of this... http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=119384
  20. ASSuming you're only .030 over since you said you might go .040 over with the 4" stroke (and 4.124" bore) you will have a 427.4 ci engine. This is as close as I could get DD with the files I had. I'm too lazy to put in head flow and cam specs. I used the Dart Pro 310cc heads. http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=13537&cat=500&ppuser=12134 well this is your initial stroker setup
  21. Sounds like a good plan. It will be interesting to tell people you have a 434. MOST people have never heard of such a creature and will probably ask if it's dodge or something. haha.
  22. Man, that sucks. Isn't there a law for that. Once it's left on your property for 90 days it's yours. j/k. Why does he want them back all of the sudden? Maybe you shouldn't have showed him what can be done with em.
