  1. IIf somebody already asked I apologize but How did he know it was scratched when he was IN the car?
  2. Do you have a vacuum gauge or a timing light and have you used either of them?
  3. I poked around google a little last night and it seemed to say I simply had a 10 bolt 8.5" IRS. I'll have to look at it and let you know I guess....
  4. Well I've been thinking about doing the whole corvette thing some more but I don't think twin turbo, at least not yet. I ordered my LC-1 wideband yesterday. There's a guy selling them NIB for $170 on ebay which is $29 cheaper than buying them from innovate motorsports. Hopefully he comes through, he only has 23 feedback but the last guy that bought one had good comments (fingers crossed). Anyhow, now all I need is an IAT I think. I was on google looking for the GM part number that megasquirt recommends but I didn't find it. Someone said it was in the megamanual so some day when I've got two hours to spare I'll start reading that.... As much as I hate to say it I'm going to put a th350 in the thing (I would like some sort of overdrive but oh well) simply because I have a built one and with the 3.05 rearend and 255/70/15's 70mph will be just below 2500 which seems fine. Those tires are huge! They rub if you hit a bump real hard. I'm debating whether to notch the lips. I know I shouldn't but those tires are brand new and I like the size and look... Anyhow, just documenting "progress" even though there hasn't been any really...
  5. How did you break it? If you're just doing 1.8 60' still then you're not launching very hard it doesn't seem. What am I missing? Popping the clutch?
  6. I know it's lazy of me to ask but what do dana 60's come in. What would my '77 corvette have?
  7. I want.... I'm digging the togas too!
  8. Would you mind disclosing the contents of your 385? Inexpensive to me and inexpensive to you are two separate things my friend!
  9. IME, inexpensive and 383 can't be used in the same sentence. 500hp and inexpensive don't work in the same sentence either....
  10. Well from what I understand the LT1 has the same mounts as a traditional sbc so you get the jagsthatrun mounts and there you have that. The wiring is probably the only other thing that's different. Order the conversion manual and read it first then buy the mounts. https://shell7.tdl.com/~jags/Datsun_Order.html
  11. Welcome and good luck. Two words of wisdom, watch the comments about the carbed 383's... and use the search feature.
  12. Consider it a reinforcement of your sound knowledge and wisdom then
  13. Well since someone dug this one up and they're talking about using z31 turbos on a 6l engine I will say it's not a good idea and even Corky says that on the z31 they were not properly sized. They will hit boost immediately but not really build any power after the initial threshold. Corky says that's what most of the budget turbo cars do to sell cars. When the person first drives the car and barely steps on the throttle he will hit boost quickly and think there must be so much more to go but in reality the turbo was in its efficiency range when it first hit boost. If you use those turbos you will be overboosting and could be better off running less boost because the turbo will be close to its efficiency range. You want to match the turbos to the engine so that at half of its rpm range and max rpm you are still within a certain efficiency which I believe is above 70%. If someone doesn't correct me I will look it up. If you're not in this range you're making your turbo work outside of its designed boost and you will create more heat and push hotter air into your engine which will make less power and possibly cause detonation.
  14. I think you've got it. 87 and up blocks should be pretty easy to come by and if you can get oem roller lifters and all the needed stuff for about $100 then you're that much ahead I think. Like I say I would recommend getting a vortec engine just because you've already got a roller cam. You could even sell the heads and get some money back if you don't want to run them but for 400hp and under I think they're just the ticket.
  15. Start with the tall deck version of this block and I don't think you can go wrong. Nice link Grumpy, you got the wheels turning but that's a good chunk of change. http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_10001_10002_835492_-1_10719
  16. That makes sense but I would email him for sure. You know you can buy the roller lifters and spider tray and stuff off of ebay and even gm performance parts I believe that is if you have a late model block that does not already have a roller cam.
  17. I work with a guy who's brother did a ferrari kit car out of a fiero and made close to 70k just from the one car. The legal implications might be a deterrent as mentioned though. Maybe have them sign a waiver? I don't know.
  18. Haha, I would have never read it that way. I was wondering what in the world he was talking about.
  19. Prolly is kinda like barie. I need to barie that for a second....
