  1. There are several tests for components on http://shbox.com/1/how_tos.html
  2. Zero traction in low gear? Imagine that, LOL. I'm looking forward to seeing it.
  3. Thanks Wayne, maybe I'll be able to make a run or two at DNI this time. You think that beast of yours will be running by then?
  4. Thanks, I know I'm going to miss those "what the hell is that" look I got at stop lights. But one trip down I-85 was enough to have something quieter.
  5. Patience grasshopper, LOL. I'll try for more picture tomorrow in the mean time this is on my website. A few pictures from the conversion. http://www.dejavideo.net/280z8/transplant-picts.html The push button start is from a Viper.
  6. I installed two layers of sound deadener I picked up from http://motors.search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZlobucrod on the firewall and all the floor areas including the hatch area and inside the storage bins. It is aluminum clad foam stuff much like dynamat. You use 3M spray adhesive to glue it down. It is pretty cheap so I bought 2 rolls and doubled it everywhere. Installation was easy, stuff cuts with scissors and a box knife. I followed that with new molded carpet which has a built in padding. You can see some of the sound deadener in this picture.
  7. They are '85 Corvette lights in a custom fiberglass panel.
  8. Thanks Ryan, the stance looks so-o-o much better with the lowered springs. What little driving I did last night it handles a lot better too. I hope to get it aligned Monday.
  9. LOL, I have a ways to go yet to catch you. Remember my car was already painted when I got it. And you've been a great source of information when I got lost.
  10. Prices are starting to come down on the LS1 but your'e right, its still a lot higher than the LT1. Thats why I went LT1, I picked up a whole wrecked but drivable 94 Z28 for $1500.
  11. It took three days and a lot of cash but I have a brand new exhaust system! After a lot of discussion with the exhaust tech what I finally ended up with was 2 14" pipes through short 4" mufflers on each side of the transmission and resonators at the rear on each side of my Camaro fuel tank ending with pretty cool flared exhaust tips. The system does a great job of quieting it down while still having a nice growl, I am very happy. The turbo muffler system I had before sounded badass but on the highway it was deafening. This is the only picture I have now. I will try to get some under car shots soon. One thing I am very happy with was my sound deadener. When I drove the car to the exhaust guy with open headers I was surprised to find how quiet the car was with the windows up. Two layers of the EBay acquired sound deadener and the new carpet really works. I only have a few projects left to complete. After I get a heat shield made for the passenger rear side to protect my fuel filter and lines from the new exhaust I will get the front end aligned. I still have to finish plumbing and wiring the AC, back-up lights need mounted and the grille and front bumper need mounted. Oh yeah there's that new console to build, another fiberglass project and probably another month or so, LOL.
  12. POR-15 doesn't really care if its rough or not, but it doesn't like shiny automotive finishes, better to be down to bare metal. It also needs the metal to be very clean and completely dry. Any moisture at all will give you fish-eyes. Clean it well after getting all the dust out and then hit the area with a heat gun or propane torch to burn off any water residue. I have found heating the metal make POR-15 work much better. WEAR GLOVES, I love this stuff but it is a bitch to remove from your skin if you don't remove it quickly!
  13. Holy reinforcement batman! The front end isn't going to move that's for sure.
  14. Without that resistor the ignition won't do anything. And even if you could somehow get the car started the VATS would shut the fuel pump off after 10 seconds. Since I swapped out the whole 280Z chassis wiring harness to the Z28 harness it was pretty easy once I figured out how the VATS works.
  15. You think $250 is high for the Mounting Kit, which includes engine mounts, rubber isolators, transmission crossmember, installation hardware? From what I read on JTR's site you get all this: Seems like a good price to me and would save you countless hours of fabrication.
  16. You can upload videos to your gallery. But I have no clue how you would find someone's videos unless they posted a link.
  17. I put a Viper push button start in my custom dash. It still has an ignition key and in addition I kept the Z28 VATS with a hidden removable resistor for theft protection.
  18. Wow, did Jerry have to change is shorts after that launch?
  19. From what I have read airbags are not made of kevlar. "There are currently two principle material types which are used in the manufacture of airbags. They are uncoated nylon (polyamide 66) and coated nylon.

  21. That's what I had planned to do. But on my '77 280Z I had no access to the back of the valance where the holes were, there was some sort of box frame there. So I had to run some fiberglass all the way across the outside of the panel and feather it the best I could.
  22. Thanks Jody, should have know you'd know the answer to this. That's about what I was thinking. Taking the car to the exhaust guy Monday. Looks like a real test drive next week......its about time, LOL.
  23. Just out of curiosity, assuming a stock LT1/4L60E has 275 HP at the flywheel what would you expect the increase would be with the emission stuff removed, block hugger headers, a cold air intake and some slight tweaking to the PCM (WOT blocker, performance shift points enabled, EGR, CCP, A/C sensor pressures, traction control disabled, rev limiter raised to 6400 RPMS, and the fan temps lowered to 179 and 197)?
  24. There's one in the for sale section. http://classifieds.hybridz.org/showproduct.php/product/5950
