  1. Many drive shafts have u_joints that are not designed to be replaced. Sounds like this is what you have. Use a cutting torch to cut out the cross. John
  2. John,

I sent you a PM. :-) see ya here...

  3. Not a rod. Sounds to fast for a rod at idle. Something hitting fan? Fan bolt to long hitting WP? Bent Alt. cooling fan?
  4. Check u-joints! I recently had same symptoms and my new drive shaft had thrown off a bearing cup. John
  5. Apparently we have a new Racetrack in the northwest. It looks to be pretty cool! I guess while I'm at it I will have to install a cage in my Z !! He is a link http://www.oregonraceway.com/ John(mongo)
  6. Outstanding research Mag58!!! You da Man!! John
  7. The carb insulators(gasket/spacers) used to blow out. They would spit out part of the gasket causing a air(vacuum) leak. I used to use a dentists mirror to inspect the bottom of the insulators. Hope this helps. John
  8. T.O. brg To short? There are different sizes.
  9. I have owned 2 of these also!! LOL "76 coupe", and a "77 wagon" Guess there is no accounting for taste. LOL Mongo
  10. Cool, I'll be watching for updates!
  11. rod or main brg? Spun main means line bore(minimum). Spun rod means new rod.
  12. The reason for the change to a 7/8" cylinder is that the stock master is to small and will not move enough fluid to move the clutch slave, and disengage the clutch. John
  13. Do you have a bolt in the 55-57 motor mount hole that intersects with the fuel pump push rod passage?
  14. Will any of you be at Canby event this weekend? If so, look me up. I will be driving a Gray and Yellow 510. SR powered. John DeHaan( Mongo510)
  15. Check to see if valves are hitting a piston. If you bolted the head down without checking the valve timing you may have interference from valves hitting the pistons. You may also have bent some valves when torquing it down!! hope this helps. Mongo
  16. New pump should be available. I've never seen a rebuild kit for this application. The oil is probably coming out of the pivot pin hole. You may be able seal it.with some epoxy or something similar.
