  1. Thanks for the detailed info Pete!
  2. Normally I don't get many replies at all to my questions, so I thought it would help!
  3. getting ready to put my engine back together. Its in the oven right now, curing the powdercoat. Not sure which brand/spec of lube I need for the assembly. If anyone saw my other threads, it turned out I got the wrong sized rings originally. That problem is taken care of and now I am only waiting on the harmonic balancer I bought off of ebay (and the seller won't respond with a status :< )
  4. that is the only size he sells. http://arizonazcar.com/piston.html
  5. shouldn't be a problem. I use it for cleaning steel quite often before powdercoating. Its the easiest way I have found.
  6. arizona z car sells them, for use with L24 rods.
  7. would muriatic acid remove it? Awesome work on that chopper, btw Cruez!
  8. Supras are big heavy cars, but compared to a 300TT, their brakes are also massive. The fronts easily weigh over twice as much as the Z's, maybe a little more. When I powdercoated a set, I had to hang them one per rack because I thought my hanging rack would collapse in the oven, where I could do a complete set of Z brakes on a rack. The fronts have steel bodies with aluminum outer shells.
  9. I think the miata fits the original posters idea, just a little more pricey.
  10. clutch was slipping and tranny lost 2 and 4 on the way home from Zdayz last may. I started tearing it down in september, rebuilding the engine while I was at it, and I'm still not there. 2 full time jobs makes it tough.
  11. gap is consistent anywhere down the bore.
  12. I don't have them anymore. I sent them to Yasin, since I didn't need them. As for the Dannys Datsun stuff, I will probably keep them (use the 240 rods with AZC pistons, maybe) or just save them, as they are getting hard to find.
  13. a couple of pictures I didn't use this caliper to measure the bores, I used a dial gage, this is just for illustration and is not accurate.
  14. I don't know if its the way I am measuring, if I got the wrong rings sent to me or what! To start: F54 block / P90 head, standard dished pistons. The engine ran fine, no blow by or excessive oil consumption, just lower compression than I wanted. I am upgrading to Nissan Motorsports cast pistons, in stock bore. I had the block hot tanked and honed. I measure the bores at 3.386 inches, 86.01mm which is in spec according to the clymer manual, but when I slide a ring into the cylinder to check the end gap, it comes out to about 4mm instead of the .2 to .4mm it should be. I don't know what to do at this point. I thought the machine shop took too much material off when honing, so first I bought a set of used oversized pistons from Dannys Datsuns and was going to bring the block back to get it bored, but they wound up being L24 oversized pistons when they arrived, so that was a waste of $150. I thought maybe I got rings for an L24 instead of an L28, but the rings I have are larger than the L24 rings that came on the above pistons. I just got another block from a friend, but its actually been overbored already, as its got 87mm bores.
  15. 100% now, after reviewing some documents. They used that size for packaging more than performance. Even with the huge hood bulge, they couldn't go with a 90. It was a great 340whp upgrade, but it was pretty much not upgradeable.
  16. The stillen for the 350z uses the M62, I believe. I had it on my 350z, and there is a vacuum bypass valve on it that keeps it from costing you gas mileage, if driven in a sane manner.
  17. I only got 8. But, one of your quiz answers is incorrect. The 350z was introduced in 2002 as a 2003 model. I bought mine on 9/11/02.
  18. I don't know why you would need that for the 350z, Stock it just has an aluminum pulley. I've installed 3 superchargers on 3 different ones, 2 of which dyno over 400rwhp (mine was only 340, darn maggie!), and know of a few that are in the 500+ range and noone uses one.
  19. which is exactly what I wanted, fortunately!
  20. yea, I got the magnacor ones too, but I can't remember where I ordered them from.
  21. which one did you get? I ordered the SFI one.
  22. This particular one because its cheaper then OEM. I only need a one row. I just talked to them, the 90000 series is SFI rated, which is required for drag racing. If the elastomer fails, it is constructed so as not to spin on the hub. I think I'll get the 90000 series, although I don't drag race, the car is a weekend road course car, and what an extra $100 in the long run?
  23. I got russell lines from either autozone or advanced, don't remember which, but they were about $99 online.
  24. that would be, you just have to find a cheap one!
