  1. on my last Z, I put the HI6 where the window washer fluid bottle went.
  2. granted, mine was running rich, but I had the SUs on an L28ET and it seemed to run out of steam above 4200-4500 rpm. I have since replaced the pistons with domed nissan motorsports pistons, along with a couple other items, but the engine is still out of the car.
  3. no experience here, but I think you should fix it. It will be much more of a pita later to fix. My own personal guidelines are that if I have to ask, it probably needs to be corrected. Even if I could get away with it, I would wind up worrying about it, and its not worth it.
  4. I have limited experience powdercoating over chrome, but from the powdercoating forums, it seems that it all comes down to the quality of the plating. Apparently, HD has lately used chinese chroming and their parts bubble and flake off more than most. I did have a zinc plated rotor bubble up on me. Like said above, it depends on the quality of the plating, and by not doing any chrome at all, the shops are covering themselves.
  5. I just clicked on the picture of the vette engine, which took me to the download page and clicked on download.
  6. thats odd. I run xp and don't have autocad and the ls2 one works just fine for me?
  7. LS-2 and small block truck engines animation with every piece being assembled from the block up! http://smallblockscreensaver.com/default.aspx
  8. yes, when I get his in exchange, I am going to try to go with red wrinkle in the rectangular TURBO area and black on the outside, or smooth red letters with black wrinkle finish for the next one, haven't decided yet. But, it will be a prize at Zdayz!
  9. Swapping some powdercoat work for his electronic ignition. I will be delivering this to him on sunday when I am in LA.
  10. cool!My elec. pump on the stillen charged 350z's intercooler failed 3 times so I can't bring myself to trust one for the engine, but thats just my bad experience talking
  11. I haven't had this one for almost 20 years, but the only 4x4 I ever owned: We called it 'Black Death' 86.5 Nissan Hardbody SE V6. Bad thing was, the VG30 alternator is on the bottom, and every time I would go mudding, I would have to disassemble and clean it out. After the first 3 trips to the alternator shop, the owner taught me how to do it myself.
  12. Dan, I think it would be a very worthwhile experience if you can do it. I spent time in several different countries growing up and the experience definitely added to my life.
  13. whats driving your water pump?>
  14. I had one of those after the sentra, an 87. It couldn't hold 55 with cruise control going over an overpass. I had it 2 and a half months before I even traded it with a nissan dealer for an 86.5 Hardbody 4x4, and thus began my long history of frequent car swapping.
  15. Sentra. My first car was an 83 and with just a glasspak muffler, test pipe and air cleaner lid flipped upside down I beat 2 separate 200sx turbos in stoplight races. Plus a couple others too!
  16. While PC on the back or rims can be a problem, I have successfully coated over 250 sets of calipers for customers and not one has ever had a problem. Caliper paint just looks nasty compared to powder, in fact, probably 30% of the calipers that I get in have been previously painted, but the owners were unsatisfied with the results or longevity.
  17. looking forward to the pics! I need to see what you plumbed into the manifold, as I am nearing completion of mine. Also, where did you run the power for the choke from?
  18. When I do plastics, I cure at 350 for a longer period of time. I wouldn't go any lower. Usually its 20 minutes at 400 degrees, starting the timer when the part reaches 400 degrees. So something big, like an engine block takes about 2 hours total. While you could use IR heatlamps to cure, it would be very time consuming and tedious, as you would have to continuosly monitor the temperature and move the lamp. It could be done though. My concern would be all the body fillers and seam sealers they used in constructing the car and also the lead on the roof. Plus, you could have absolutely no bondo at all on the car.
  19. Davy, No plating here. The $250 charge for all the parts is very fair.
  20. powder is probably more durable, but that cad plating sure is pretty!
  21. $39/each, but I have a friend who is a parts manager that sells to me with a very small markup. Flat tops would have been $42 each, so it was a no brainer.
  22. another NA here. In the long process of reassembly (2 full time jobs, when I have free time, its hard to get motivated) L28, std. bore Nissan Motorsports domed pistons P90 head, Schneider stage 2 cam AZC manifold / Holley 390 Fidanza flywheel Hopefully it will be fun on the race course. Going from 7.3:1 NA compression to around 9.1:1 or so.
  23. you might want to ask Dave at AZC, he should know if noone else here can answer it for you.
  24. yep! I know how much flies out the window, but I still can't help myself!!!! When I got married, it was an excuse to buy 2 new cars a year instead of just 1. I'm doing better now. I had the 350z on order for a year and a half and owned it for 3 years, and have had the C6 for one and a half now. It is listed for sale, but it won't sell at my price, and if it does, I plan on being carless for a while. I hardly ever get to drive it now, as I am so busy between the 2 jobs and the powdercoating business takes its spot in the garage, so mostly it sits outside in the weather.
