  1. Get a storage unit to work on your stuff. Surely your parents would have no obligation to getting all of your equipment out so it doesn't smell up their garage...
  2. Feels good to have your swap out on the track doesn't it!! What was the improvement over the previous drivetrain?
  3. Very cool Steve!! I like the original color too
  4. AWESOME THUMPER!! There aren't too many L28 turbos in the 11's. I never made it there with mine either. Quite an accomplishment!! Can't wait to see it run at SEZ!!
  5. I'll probably watch it... even if it is cheesy, a car movie is a car movie, I just don't try to look for much of a story line
  6. Awesome dude!! 117 is cookin' As yo have already heard, work on the launch and 11's are right around the corner!! You still bringing it to SEZ?
  7. There is going to be a meet and greet Saturday as people will be arriving throughout the day. Here's the thread... http://www.topbb.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=21&mforum=sezshootout My sis decided to get married that Saturday in Pa (I know, the nerve!!), so I am catching a flight into Atlanta where a buddy is picking me up Sunday morning so I can attend. My car is coming up with the Florida caravan on Saturday on another buddy's trailer. I think there is an open test-n-tune Saturday night at the track, atleast there has been in previous years. The track personel are very accomodating... Good people...
  8. Mazworx can do the mounts for sure. My mounts were made by making a cradle under the motor for my 71 frame and welded in place, so you may need to get the car to them to do it. I would say contact them (http://www.mazworx.com) if you are interested and see what they say. I also see you are on the Gulf coast, if you haven't heard, there is an event coming up in Reynolds Georgia at the Silver Dollar Raceway on March 26th. There will be some very cool Z car swaps there, and the guys from Mazworx are attempting to have their 2 cars together to come up and test for the upcoming race season. I'll be there with mine as well. Cyrus has done an awesome job on documenting his swap. He is a real credit to this site. I too wonder what happened w/ BLKMGK's insurance claim... I don't believe anyone has installed the Supra rear end into the early Z car yet... I would think that the track would be kind of wide and would require substantial narrowing. A stout 300ZXTT differential with custom half shafts should be able to hold what you throw it as long as you footbrake and can preload the drive train. I am currently running a 300zx turbo LSD (87-89) with 3.36 gears and 300zx turbo half shafts and it is holding up fine at my current power level. I will be going to the R230 (300zxTT) differential with 2.93 gears very shortly. BTW, if I can help out in any way should you choose to do the 2JZ swap, don't hesitate to ask. Mike
  9. LS1 perhaps!? I was considering an FD for the other 2jzgte motor I have. I love the body lines and interior...
  10. Hey BamaDave - I recognize you from the SF board!! Welcome to our little corner of the world. I wouldn't mind seeing a 3rd or 4th 2JZ powered 240z around here BLKMGK - nice to see you pop in now and again also!
  11. The old Porker is lookin' good Rick. You shoulda taken the pictures with the 'big meats' on!!
  12. That is still flying!! That 10.99 is right around the corner!!
  13. Bad tank of gas maybe? I noticed a difference in where I purchased my 93 octane. Chevron was great and I didn't have any issues, 7-11, citgo, marathon, not so much. I notice even in my high compression daily driver 240z, I have to run a quality 93 octane (like Chevron) where a lesser quality 93 fuel gives me the pings. You could try adding 2-3 gallons of race fuel to the mix (not the octane booster crap), just to see if it makes a difference, if it does, then you'll just have to back out some more timing if you want to run those boost levels on pump...
  14. Nice job on the valve cover...tasteful Chewie - "Could not duplicate on the ground" - is one of my favorites
  15. Yep, hands down my choice. I was just there today and had a driveshaft loop fabricated and installed. I may be able to get the cage certified next week as they may have the NHRA guy coming to inspect a couple of other cages. You can see photos of the 9 second certifiable cage in my photo album.
  16. 17x10's I have on the rear of my Z didn't require coilovers and just fit inside the ZG flare. I remember looking at some 15x10's a little while ago, but ran into tire choice problems... There aren't a lot of options for a wide 15" street tire.
  17. I have swapped a number of cam towers from head to head also, and the tap the tower method to align has always worked, unless for some strange reason the tower has been shaved...I've never heard of it being done, but that doesn't mean someone hasn't tried to 'cheat' and shave a tower to make up for a warped head on top... without a known history of the head, well, you know...
  18. Hmmm The housings I have had coated here are only done on the outside anyway. I have not heard of having the inside of a turbine housing coated...
  19. If it turns freely in the cam tower when everything is tightened down, that is what is important. I agree, someone probably replaced that tower and it didn't line up properly. No reason not to use it if everything aligns properly.
  20. YEA!!! Also, nice mirrors, they are the same set that I have on my 240z. I think $250 is about the current going rate. I paid ~$200 for mine a few years ago when a HybridZ member went to Japan and bought 10 sets and brought them back here to sell.
