  1. I did... Just get a reliable slow EFI L6 for the Z so that you can't break stuff... unless you have already done some crazy swap...
  2. You are going to be close... Just get some lower profile rcing seats and you should be fine. I put Eclipse seats in my Z and I lost a couple inches of headroom. I'm just going to make new seat mounts along with the new floorboards that will go in.
  3. You just have to change the intercooler tubing... EASY fit with such a small and light motor. The question is if you have the ($)$$$$
  4. I have 128mb of video memory...
  5. would this game work on a laptop with a AMD Turion 64 X2(1.6 ghz) and a Radion x1200 video card? I have 2 gigs of memory and a big hard drive but am not sure about the video card (won't run Call of Duty 4 but it does run Battlefield 2)
  6. An L26 with 83mm L24 flat-top pistons and an MN-47 should be 10.2:1 unless the head is milled down or you have aftermarket pistons and maybe an overbore.
  7. So are you building a motor over 400 horsepower? If not then you don't really need to use a tubular turbo exhaust manifold. OTM
  8. I got some money toward a TIG welder... The Z can't wait to have it's underpan(t)s welded back up.
  9. In about 45 seconds of searching...I found this: TURBO MANIFOLD ON EBAY It is even N.O.S.
  10. I pulled the front of my motor apart twice in one day... I was NOT the world's happiest camper.
  11. I think I am going to skip the MIG and just go all in with a nice TIG from a member here. It might be a few weeks until I can afford to get a large enough generator for it though. Thanks guys! OTM
  12. Not this year... But I did get a little money toward a nice TIG machine.
  13. I put 15k miles on my L26 with bronze seats and when I went through it to put in new bearings and gasets I didn't notice any appreciable damage to the seats...and my motor has been flogged with more than its fair share of time at 7000+ RPMs. I highly doubt that an engine is "chewing" away at the bronze valve seats if run on unleaded.
  14. At this point I am not sure if I am going to use twin turbos or a single Holset HX50. From what I have seen/calculated, the HX50 should hit boost hard around 3200~ish(1 bar by 2400~ish) RPMs on the VH45 and run until no end.
  15. The MN-47 is around 38.5-39.5 CCs...I have heard all of those numbers. The E88 is 44.7 supposedly. With the engine design program at: http://ozdat.com/ozdatonline/enginedesign/ A stock L24 with an MN-47 head(39cc) will get bumped from 9.17:1 to 9.79:1 An L26 with L24 pistons and an MN-47 will be at 10.2:1 CR and will have more torque thanks to the bigger stroke crankshaft...FWIW
  16. The MN-47 will reaise your compression ratio a good bit. It is a closed chamber design as opposed to the open chamber E88. I'm pretty sure guys with E88 heads are still running stock seats and using unleaded gas. Mine has the stock seats still in it.
  17. both are as-taken... Me on the right:
  18. I thought that it would be cool to see everyone's before and after engine pics... I'd like to see the start of your engine and then when it is done... IE not L6-v8... show your V8 when you got it and then when it's "done" I'll start out: My L26 before: 3 years later: Powdercoated by Mike Golding (2003z) Valve cover had a layer of clear powder on top of the "prismatic black". Head got painted in hi-temp black as well as all the manifolds and SUs. And now I start over... And a start for the new motor:
  19. between 5k-10k... I drove it daily for over a year just replacing the occasional $35 part... Then I started upgrades...LOL wheels, tires, brakes, coilovers, illuminas, clutch, and flywheel put me at about $6000 with the car's cost and then I don't even want to think about the amount I have put into it with maintinance while it was my DD!! Still not bad as far as $ goes for 15k miles. Now I just need to swap out the drivetrain from the alternator to the rear hubs.
  20. If you were to dump the 280Z~ish type 3 bumper and retain the Gnose bumper then it would be SWEET! Also re-profile the front of the type 3 to be more round rather than come to a point liks the stock Z nose. I may do something like this when I get around to it along with a few extra aeodynamic "enhancements"...
  21. Minimal. If you read through Mikelly's posts you will see over and over that he says that need an entire aerodynamic package...not just a little thing here and a little thing there... "OTM"
