  1. Well I have my MN47 completely stripped down and am ready to assemble it but I have one problem. On the rear exhaust bolt that was broken off I drilled the hole, put in the easy-out, and twisted... Off it came. It broke clean flush with the bolt surface. What can I do? The easy-out doesn't want to be drilled into to retry removing the bolt. How can I get the broken bolt out? It is about 1/8" to 3/16" down into the hole. Thanks!
  2. Also the fact that we have a big parachute for a wheelwell doesn't help much either...I think it still needs to be vented like shown and then the bottom sealed off around the tire.
  3. The janspeed car has that extension in front of the stock hood and it is about the same length as the Gnose. The motor is a 3.1 running on fully mapped standalone EFI. Making over 200hp...
  4. Thanks Sven! I am developing this front fender idea that I like. I think I'll use it on my Z if it checks out OK aerodynamically... I keep drawing a nice rear fender and then look at it again and say crap...another YZ fender...lol I guess it is such a good shape to complement the rest of the car.
  5. Back on topic... What do ya think?
  6. How about having a suspension that you can adjust for ride height from inside the control room via remote? I am thinking: remove all coil springs and attach a large threaded rod next to the strut with a motor attached with a worm gear so that you can raise and lower the car in the control room. That way you can test different ride heights in one blow. Just another idea...
  7. Mike: Thanks! I was going to get the Z32 seats but they were already gone from the JY. Unfortunately I am having engine trouble (don't forget to lube a new oil pump, busted cam and possibly other junk...) so I may not be able do drive it to ZdayZ this weekend. I'm going to try to install my MN47 tomorrow if my pistons aren't toast.
  8. AWESOME!!! That is awesome!!! I want one of those tensioners!!!
  9. Very good pics!!!! It looks like the vortex generators at the back should keep air from going around the spoiler...
  10. The video works for me. Thanks for posting that vid! The hood on the car is ultra-thin fiberglass(like 1 or 2 layers) so it flexes a lot. Still that is some good pressure... Thanks for posting my link! That first vid seems like it has some useful info... It all looks as the side profile of a Z would normally flow.
  11. You ccn buy good 2000-2001 VG33 powered frontiers for around $8500 around here. They have like 175hp and more torque... I have an 04 crew cab with the NA VG33 and get 16.5mpg (right foot happy) upto 19mpg with all my college junk @ 75mph (350lbs of stuff) I have gotten upto 21mpg around town just with a light foot...
  12. I think that by the time you get the car low enough to use a diffuser then it won't be anywhere near a stretable car. Most of the Zs tested seemed had average ground clearance of more than 4"... Most race cars that use them [diffusers] have less than 2" of clearance... Just a thought...
  13. Yes you can powdercoat with a standard oven. Just don't plan on baking anything you are going to eat in it afterwards...
  14. Hey, thanks for listing that Bschiltz! The Eclipse seat is great for anyone 6' tall or less. If you are over that height then you would want to mount the eclipse seats directly to the floor.
  15. Yes that is all the fabbing I had to do. Two 18" strips of 1" wide by 3/16" thick bar per seat and drill the holes where you want them. The sliders from the Z and the eclipse are the exact same width apart. The eclipse sliders are just 4" longer.
  16. hmm.. Lots of the cool Zs are getting magazines now...
  17. I was going to get some out of the Z32 that was there but it was already STRIPPED of EVERYTHING except the windshield... I have my motor almost completely together and it should go in in about an hour after dinner.
  18. Well I sit about 2" higher than I was sitting with my stock seats that the foam and springs were dead in. So probably only an inch higher than a decent stock Z seat. I only need to get by ZdayZ and then I am going to cut out the floorpans to replace them and lower the seat mount by a good bit while I am there. In the eclipse there were mounted to studs coming out of the floor so I will end up doing something like that probably. I'm still going to get a Kirkey road racing seat for when I go to trackdays and stuff but these will be fine for now and definitely an upgrade from stock.
  19. oh! the strut mount! I may be getting camber plates soon and you could have my old one(s) for shipping... If not then I should be making another junkyard trip on the 21st or so and those would cost you just a little bit.
  20. metallicar: The rope is holding up my driveshaft since the tranny is out. Max: Like the main wheel bearing? JKNC90: Thanks! they feel really good too! Maybe even better than my 04 frontier seats!
  21. Yes infact. I am just a little over 6' and it is about 2" closer to the roof. With the seats reclined a notch from full vertical it is much better. What is cool is that they look like Z seats but more modern. Now when I go to the tail of the dragon in a couple days I won't be sliding all over the stock worn out seats. (the aluminum dash is out to finishing the wiring)
  22. Sweet car man! Love the super short diff... That dounut is insane!!! If you want to upgrade to bigger carbs I'll take those 40's off your hands. Always loved your Z.
  23. Well I was at the local pull-a-part getting the front cover crank seal and pully(don't ask) and decided to look around to see if there were any seats that would be a good fit in my Z. 1990 Eclipse with near perfect seats... The passenger seat had already been unbolted and the driver seat had 5 bolts holding it in... $40 for the pair of seats...and $25 of mounting materials at home depot...lol You can see the adapter plates on the passenger side. both seats mounted:
  24. I bought my illuminas from JDMwerks for $375 just over a year ago. I put them with my 2.5"idX10"length coilover springs. 225 lb/in front; 250 lb/in rear Got them on time with no problems. I mounted my 7" coilover perches 8" from the top of the strut. I can drop the car almost until the struts bottom out. I'd say save the $350 for parts and then welding costs and convert to coilovers. I modified the stock spring hats to work with the coilover springs...camber plates soon though...
  25. I think building an LD28ET would be a good choice for a motor build. I could see 200hp coming from a diesel L6 with a T3 or similar small turbo. GOBS of torque and a decent power band...
