  1. sigh... read the link I posted up there...all of it. you don't use two of the same turbo for a compounded/sequential turbo setup...
  2. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=111606 and it does matter...and the turbos you must use are way different in size for the size of the engine...
  3. SEARCH!!! This has been gone over in depth at least 4 times in the last 5 weeks!!!
  4. Lawrenceville Auto parts with the machine shop in the basement... I am thinking I could drop the block off on Wednesday in the morning (like 10am) and then after I get off work at 5 we could do the motor after letting it outgas a couple hours. I am going to spend tonight cleaning the block so that it will be 95% clean.
  5. 4.5" will clear your STOCK suspension...I suggest going with coilovers so you have infinite spring choices..not 8-9 choices. Those drag radials are pretty good...several people have used them but you will need to do some massaging on the stock fenders to get them not to rub the fender. I have 225/60r15 tires on my 15X8 4"BS and it rubbed pretty bad...that extra half inch of backspacing and rolling the inside edge of your stock flares should be enough to clear. Shocks? Not really many struts made for Zs for drag racing. I guess illuminas are a good bet when set on soft (1 or 2).
  6. just got back from the machine shop...They said they don't hot tank engines any more (government stopped hot-tanking?!?!)...they bake them. I figured I'll just do my best with the flap wheel on a grinder and a presure washer and then the last little bit should be easy to get off after we outgas the block.
  7. aye aye captain! That's right!!! Off to the machine shop in the morning! I got my crank out tonight and have just a couple things to remove from the block before I take it. The head is going to be a pain because I don't have a decent spring compressor yet. I'll go to the other parts stores and try to find one that will work. What stinks is I have to be at work by 11am until 5pm...arg. Right in the middle of the day. So I need to get up early to get the stuff I need... And I am in a time crunch because I need to get this motor back together and in the car running by the 18th...
  8. she does/did...she drives NASCAR too... *EDIT* she was close to driving NASCAR...aparently that deal fell through or something...
  9. How about a V8 hanging on an engine lift ready to go in? cars...Jag XJ113, that widebody vette that was on here a couple weeks ago, the new skyline, a formula vee, Danica Patrick's NASCAR car, an old mini cooper... That sketch is really cool!
  10. I say just keep looking for a shell that is already stripped down and transfer all your stuff over or go to a JY with a cordless sawzall and have at one of the JY cars and weld the panels into your 280...
  11. well an SR20 can put down the mid 500hp range with shortblock mods...the S15 Silvia SR20 came with 240-250hp...
  12. careless...VW bugs had removable fenders...you want two rear left and two rear right fenders. You then cut off just to the outside of the taillight. (thus disableing 2 bugs) This is a super beetle which were sorta funky(like the 260z) and have a bunch of different suspension parts and is a couple inches longer than the regular bug... It has the standard torsion bar rear suspension like the regular bug but the front suspension went from dual torsion bars to macpherson struts. The torsion bars were WAY more durable than the macpherson struts. see?
  13. I like the ductless air dam! not many people use it!!! "dtsnlvrs" uses one and it looks really clean!
  14. yes: I think DeWayne shouri motorsports can get them for you from Japan. They are a bit pricey though IIRC.
  15. Thanks Davy!! Here is my before shot as she sits now. I'm not working monday so I'll take it down to the machine shop first thing to have one head bolt hole fixed and get it hot tanked. I am going to try to get the MN47 tanked at the same time since it has 200,000+ miles of crud built up inside it. That is if I can buy a valve spring compressor that doesn't break on the first valve...(don't buy cheap tools!) It's just all stacked together there...not bolted or anything. Tomorrow I am going to buy a good pully puller and remove the main pully and crank. I already bought my $7 27mm socket for the main crank bolt and got that off. Pistons and rods are already out... You can see I partially stripped the rear bottom of the block but that was too much of a pain to do the whole thing... This is the intake Mike did for me (for my Dad's christmas present). The aluminum was just rough and not smoothed out. With smooth metal the powder is really smooth!
  16. Ron... I have 10 gigabytes of xanga storage space or I could just upload it to youtube for you...just email it to me...
  17. Is that from some movie or something? I don't get it...lol
  18. another vid... my favorite sounding turbo car ever... the *edit* Back on subject... E30 rallying...just a little
  19. I wish I lived in the pacific northwest where they actually have rally racing...all we have around here for offroading (off pavement) cars is ferraris going into ditches and fence posts... No SCCA rallying or anything. If there were I'd have a gravel and mud eating monZter!!
  20. check out the sound of the Audi at 3:30 in this video:
  21. AWESOME!!! He must go through a lot of tire with the amount of flatspots and rubber he lays down...then again a set of tires only has to last a couple miles right?
