  1. SICK, SICK, SICK, SICK!!! I want I want I want!!!
  2. nonono...you still use your R200/R230 or whatever can hold up to 700hp... you just have a 1500 degree engine under your hood and run a driveshaft to your rear end...
  3. never mind...not 8.8:1 "9.2:1" is correct... L26 pistons should be pretty cheap to come by since L26 motors have basically a bad motor setup...L24 block, L28 crank/rods, block was clearanced for bigger L28-ish valves (you can't o-ring it), and you can only bore it like 2mm...so no hot turbo on a L26 block...L24 is another story but not on a L26 over 5psi... My L26 with decent mods sure sounded good though!!!
  4. I agree with SHO-Z... physical therapy helped decently well...the best thing they had me do was situate yourself like you are doing a pushup but be on your elbows and just hold it for a while(2-3 min at a time)...that helps strengthen your back. I did a bunch of different stuff to work out...runing stairs was good but it got easy fast...then I was skipping stairs but I quit that before I hurt myself... I then added weight while I ran stairs...I eventually got to 33 pounds (about 4.5-ish gallons of water bottles in a US military-spec backpack) and did 2500 stairs in 50 minutes...I did 3200 stairs in 35ish minutes with 20 pounds a few days later. I sure got a bunch of looks from the other students at school running the 5 stories in the dorm building. I became "The Backpack Man" lol I could really feel the muscles in my back that support my spine getting stronger. I also lost some gut I had goten lazy on (freshman 15 not good for a back either) Then I broke my jaw so I have been sitting around quite a bit for the last two months... I'll be back to running stairs and stuff in a few weeks.
  5. hmm...weird. could it possibly be in there backwards and just not have the boot on it? Also does it have an r200 or r180 or neither?
  6. woohoo!!! My project for the year is to go from 140ish horsepower to over 400hp!
  7. I just was at teh gas pump yesterday when it was raining and a first gen Z was flying by and locked up the front wheels coming to a light. Obviously stock suspension because the front wheels were up in the wheelwells under full braking and the rears were not locking up... When I first had my illuminas in my Z set on 5 I would touch the brake pedal and the tires would lock up on medium braking. Set them back to 2f/3r and I can slam the pedal hard and it does really good stopping the car... Having the suspension too hard for the amount of tire can be dangerous when you are braking hard...
  8. I have had pretty good performance with my setup... s12 4x4 calipers slotted/crossdrilled solid rotors from MSA (should have stuck with solids) rear MSA "high performance" shoes SS braided front lines new 7/8 MC I had problems with the front brakes locking up so I drained all the brake fluid from the lines and let it sit a week or so to let it all drain. I then loaded it with DOT3 fluid and it works great...I'll convert the rears to calipers and get braided lines for it when I can afford too. Before I had my coilovers and stuff in the car when I slammed the brakes the weight shifted forward and the rears would lock up. With my old leaky stock calipers on the car I would push the pedal all the way to the floor and could not lock up a wheel with 215 tires... I think the gunk in the rear brake lines kept them from working as well... also a slightly softer front suspension should help the front brakes from locking up.
  9. Motorhead! I love the red and black! I was going to do a two-tone with red on the top half and black on the bottom half. like this rattlecan/rustoleum job I had but with gloss black and the red shined up a bit... Now the whole car is getting done in gloss black. This pic is right after installing coilovers/illuminas/diamond racing wheels...
  10. I have already thought of a turbine engine that has an output shaft...and it would fit perfectly in the Z's engine bay. I saw one that was in an aircraft museum that makes 750HP @ 20k something RPMs... It is a bit wider than an L6 and just a little bit longer...
  11. 350Z seats in a Z are really cool. 2003z has them in his 240Z
  12. DOH...I had always thought the P90 looked open like an E88 but just a taller roof...I guess I'm just an ignoramus...lol
  13. I am thinking the FOD spent 95+% of the time bouncing around in the dish of your piston and very little time squeezed between the raised part of the piston and head. Austin, who did the welding on your head? it looks pretty good...
  14. Mike: Haha... I like the dark red on a Z...that mixed with black!
  15. $2000 for my early 74 260z with flat-top L24 pistons at 9.2:1CR, roundtop SUs and mystery header/2.5" exhaust... car had not run in 5 years and had 4 flat tires, worn out paint, DEAD suspension, moderate floorboard damage and rusty subframe connectors. The car has been in 2 wrecks (all 4 corners had been damaged but had excellent reapirs) and was close to straight...
  16. I think Austin leaves the car in a secure locked garage...sabotage should not be a problem... It definitely looks like a high carbon steel ball bearing. An aluminium ball from the IC would be very soft 2xxx-3xxx series aluminum and would smush after a few times around in the piston.
  17. I counted 59 dings on the piston. That was on the edge of the piston so who knows how long it just bounced around in there. I am guessing it was in there for a long time. something could have gotten in your BOV since it does not have an air cleaner.
  18. I have thought about this...you can even bolt a stock L28ET turbo and exhaust manifold on there and push about 5 pounds of boost to help with the black smoke. There is a biodiesel book that has a biodiesel Z on the front and it could 120...pretty cool I'v heard of a Z running diesel in NY as an autocross car...great low end torque.
