  1. Mario's car sounds pretty sweet with the twice pipes setup!
  2. Jmortenson's car sounds good... The problem with my setup is you can hear my car from a mile away... in my driving vid up there you can hear about 10 things going through their resonant frequencies as I go through the RPMs...LOL
  3. L26, L24 pistons, E88 head(at the time), 9.2:1 CR header, 2.5" pipe, turbo muffler it needs a resonator behind the header but those are cheap($20) driving video(if you can hear over the tires ):
  4. on the right side of the engine near the top just a litle toward the back thee should be a flat area with L24/L26/L28 stamped on it and then a block # near that.
  5. ARG!!! all the good Z car events are while I am away at college!! Oh well.
  6. Phil: Nope! not the same one! cygnusx: hahahaha!!!hilarious!! BTW congratz on the addition to the Z car enthusiasts!!!
  7. yeah...VWs are cool. One guy with a no-budget VG30ET powered beetle said at 5psi (and leaking boost pressure) boost he could easily beat a 350Z...with the bug lifted and mud tires!!! That is the ultimate in hp/weight ratio!!! The VG30DETT seems like a pretty common motor to put in sandrails...since they can get over 1000hp and sand sucks up horsepower...you need all you can get. Tony: I don't know if you have seen the adapter plates Kennedy clutches has made for VW trannies but they can put like 75 different motors on a VW tranny! From a Datsun "A" engine to a Triton V10!
  8. "can be roller applied" That is the part I like
  9. Roger that on the subs! (I work at a mom-n-pop pizza/pasta/sub place for those that don't know that...) This is going to be great! The block is cleaning up nicely with the flap disc! it's much easier than I thought. I guess the cast iron is softer than steel...I have spent DAYS in welding class grinding steel with flap discs and that junk is hard!
  10. Davy...Not mine...I am working on one right now though...
  11. That is one of the classiest Z cowl hoods EVER!! I love it!
  12. wowsers!!! what can I say!!! http://ebaumsworld.com/2006/12/amazing-paintshop-work.html
  13. wow! good to see you are around still but there is something wrong with you to be writing a post longer than any two of BRAAP's L6 cylinder head posts...
  14. ouch!! hindsight is 20-20 There are some good FG flares out there for bugs but you just have to look. There are SOO many VW parts vendors your head will just spin... I soo want to build a VG30ET powered baja bug and there is a stock-ish bug for sale right around the corner for $500...I guess I'll just have to stick with a fast (to me) Z car for now...
  15. Tony: do you mean "new" old beetle flares or new new beetle flares? You were confusing me for a minute there... There are SOO many bugs that were shipped to the US that parts are stupid cheap... Yes the orange car has 4 rear VW beetle/old bug rear flares on it. the kicker that proves it is the very bottom of the flare. look at the curve and look at the curve of the bug's flare. I don't really like them on the rear but they look REALLY good on the front of a Z. I guess it is hard to do a good flare on the rear of a Z because there is soo much flat space and it looks odd to just have a flare sticking out of the middle. That is why I like the reaction research and JCR flares because they complement the whole fender.
  16. The first thing you need to build is a little cart for it to roll around on and for your gas bottle... Where did you buy it from? Congrats and may many miles of weld lay before you...
  17. WOW!!! I had not thought of that layout!!! VERY INTERESTING!
  18. compounded/sequential are the same thing. You don't want to have a big turbo and a small one in parallel...bad for engine with the unequal backpressure thing.
  19. hmm...so they repainted it! I have been looking for a current pic of that car for a while!
  20. So what will twins do for you over a good set of sequentials?
  21. The compounded twins is for a longer boost range so you can have quick spool with the smaller turbo and then when the smaller turbo runs out of air the bigger one is spooled and boosting even more. That way you are almost always in boost.
  22. The MN47 will bolt onto the L26 block...I'm not sure about a L24 block though as the L24 block does not have valve reliefs cut into the block. The L24E I pulled my MN47 from had small reliefs cut into the block. My L26 block has plenty of room for the smaller MN47 valves...
