  1. Based on the two posts above, you shouldn't be critical of his spelling or grammar. ZDrifter's car is fairly complete, and @ $10,000 it looks like a great deal. What you need to do is find a ricer with some money in his pocket, so he can brag about what a great job "he" did on his RB Z. If didn't already have my Z I might even be tempted to by your car. Ofcourse I'd have to tear it down and build it back. So I could say I did it. Good luck
  2. The PDF file has an error on it so I found this site with a good write up. http://www.zeroyon.com/index/content/view/20/47 How is the rest of the install going?
  3. I plan on doing a bit of both. My intent will be to make the the harness look as if the Z came with the RB in 74. I want the cleanest install possiable. I want to use the stock gauges, and when I can't I'll try an modify the A/M gauges to look stock. This is one very good idea. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=119780 But If your not trying to keep the car looking stock I don't see why you would keep the Z's wires. This thread is very well written, and will get you going pretty quickly. After that it's up to you to decide how far you want to go into the cars wiring. I've spent hours looking over schematics trying to see which wires to keep, and which to delete. But man there are a heck of a lot of wires to go through. With hundreds, maybe thousands, of choices to consider. Let's face it, are we really going to let that engine sit for a few months while we try and figure it out. Hell NO, I want to hear that baby roar yesterday!
  4. If you read through the posts you will find your answer. But it's NO you don't need to worry about it if your not going to push the motor.
  5. What I like the AEM (Floats my boat) is the fact that it is, for the most part, an all in one unit, and the degree of flexibility that it gives you. Now that I know more about the Wolf V, I will take a closer look at it. What scares me about the AEM is that I'm not an experienced tuner"YET". The Wolf appears to be a bit more intuative than the AEM. Does Wolf have a support forum like AEM?
  6. The answers to all your questions can be found here. http://aempower.com/ViewCategory.aspx?CategoryID=62 Much easier to cut and paste, then explain everything. The Wolf 5 looks like a nice system as well. It seems as if thw Wolf and AEM are the most similiar. But the AEM is still "Plug & Play"
  7. But if look at the fact that it is also a boost controler, and comes with a wide band O2 for about $2,100, it's not that bad of a deal. But yeah it is a big nut to swallow!
  8. Please post what your exp is with Tiger Jap. Imp. Did you get a clip or Eng/Tranny set?
  9. It's been awhile since I looked at that end of my speedo, but I think that you have that reversed. The silver end with the internal threads go on to the speedo.
  10. I'm surprised that no one has mentioned the AEM ECU yet. Out of all the other systems that I've looked into, this one has the most flexability. http://aempower.com/ViewProduct.aspx?ProductID=950 It's Plug & Play, but don't let the fool you. Once you plug it in it will need alot of play time before you can get it running. It has the capabilty of controlling nearly every aspect of the motor. The down side is that it is also probably one of the most complicated systems to get running.
  11. When I switched ingnitions I got the PS91 coil, but it's not mounted easily. Stick with a canister style coil it will make your life easier.
  12. Check my post on doing the alt conversion. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=106163 Read it through since I made a few changes along the way. A test light & a voltmeter will be very important to do this swap. Good Luck
  13. I'll see if I can find is contact info for you, and pm it to you. In my opinion these are the best mounts you can get. granted I've yet to actually by my engine.
  14. I've been of the board for a while, since my new job has me so busy I can barly scratch my but, never mind look @ my Z. Arizona has a sweet new set up http://www.arizonazcar.com/coil.html . It's worth a look.

  16. Not sure about the 81 ZX booster, but the any 74-78 booster is the correct one to go with.
  17. Your Z is looking good. Your really starting to make me jealous:mrgreen: . What's going on with your site? I haven't seen an update in a while. Since I can't do my car yet, I like living vicariously through you. LOL
  18. Well I had to be practical about my transportation Situation. (It sucks having to be a responsible adult! ) I could keep driving my Z and wait until I have enough money to do my swap. But the stock engine needs some help, ie $$$$, to keep running. And I just don't want to spend it on that motor. So I leased myself a new car. It's an 06' M-B CLK350, so I'm not to broken up about it. But I would rather be driving my Z.
  19. I'd love to see that modification. Although the manual rack isn't to bad, I'd love to put a Power rack in my Z. Especially after I install my RB26.
  20. I did a write up on my 260Z swap, and it has a few links that should help. the 240Z is a bit easier to do than the 260Z. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=106163&highlight=260Z+alternator Hope this will help you out.
  21. Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the newer motors more environmentally friendly than the old ones? I would think that they would want you to swap in less polluting motors than the car came with. Luckily in NJ there is an exception on "Collector Cars", they don't don't even look under the hood. The only catch is that you can't drive the car more than 5K a year. Which is no big deal unless it's your daily driver.
  22. Not sure about the oiling system, but if you want a 2.0 why not do an SR20 swap? Personally I'd go with the RB25!!!! Way more power potential from the 25. The 25 can easily support 500 HP, same can't be said about the 20. (Without some serious modding). And The 25DET comes with a stronger tranny.
  23. 240Z Master has an HKS version. And I think a few of the other guys had custom ones made. You may want to PM 240Z Turbo, he ownes a shop. Good Luck.
  24. I thought that I would add this link to another post on the oil pan. It has a great shot of hte RB26 pick up mod. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=107708
  25. Is it OK to paint an Aluminum IC with flat black paint? I'm going for a stealth look, and don't want a nice shinny IC giving me away.
