  3. Tim, How much did you have to cut from the rotor to get it to clear the caliper? Did you file the ear on the strut housing flat where you put the washers to center the caliper on the rotor?

  6. I just came back from 3 of our U-Pull-It wrecking yards looking for some front upper strut bearings and some rear spindle pins to pull. I found a 75Z that someone used a couple of 5/8"X11" grade 8 NF bolts instead of spindle pins. There were no lock wedges in the strut and these bolts had been in use for years. I pulled them out and can not find any wear. The transverse links (lower control arms) were tight and showed no wear in the bushings. I have searched the forums for info on the tubular control arms that are sold and found they are using bolts instead of spindle pins. Has anyone here used a bolt instead of spindle pins on their stock rear suspension? The 75Z had urethane bushings in the transverse links.

  12. Here is what I do using a drill press and bathroom scale. To check spring rate put the spring holder on (easier for the press to put even pressure) and put pressure till you hit 50lbs on your scale then set the inch dial to 1, 2, or what ever then from the 50lbs point apply one dial inch worth of pressure and what your scale reads will be your spring rate!
  13. So how about putting a couple three or more of the computer magnets on the outside of the oil filter? Then when the filter is changed the magnets can be swapped to the new filter. The computer magnets will NOT fall off.
  14. All of the gears I have changed just pulled off once the pin was removed. If my memory serves me correctly there is a dimple drilled in the gear that lines up with the contact on the rotor. Those magnets shure look like the ones out of a computer hard drive.
