  1. I don't *think* that's what he means. My parents 280Z Has louvers on it with a small lock on the bottom, that is locked/unlocked with a small, plastic key. I think that's what he's talking about.
  2. No flame from me either, and I'll second that. I can't stand to see people destroy perfectly good Z cars...
  3. What he said, although I haven't done it. However, after looking, it appears they are mounted differently. You could probably make it fit with a little bit of fabrication, although I'm pretty sure you'll also need the matching 280z center console, to make it all fit.
  4. Is this it? http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=112543 Rather convenient that you make this thread, as I was thinking about doing such a swap just a day ago. I'll be following this thread.
  5. Very cool. Thanks for sharing. I'm especially fond of the Hemi powered cars you've got.
  6. I like how it has FOUR mirrors. However, I wouldn't even think about buying it because of the salvage title. Like supertip said, it's very possible it has major body or frame damage that may or may not have been properly repaired.
  7. I'll second that. I'll admit, I am a bit of a slacker in school. I have never had consistently good grades, even though I am perfectly capable of them. I did exactly what you did, the bare minimum. Fortunately, I did manage to figure out at least one of the ways I learn things, which is by actually doing problems, etc. Definitely make sure he learns how to study though. I wish I had tried harder. Congrats to your son though. That's impressive for a 6th grader. I think that's about what I got when I took the PSATs as a 10th grader, 2 years ago.
  8. Looks really clean except the dash cap and seats. If it's as clean as it looks, IMO it's worth it. But of course I have to ask the obvious question... how much rust? BTW, what are you doing with your 240z? I was looking forward to the buildup of it.
  9. Not necessarily. If you have Firefox, open up whatever craigslist searches you want. Lets say I want to search for 240zs in Philly, and all of NJ. I'd open http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/search/sss?query=240z, and the others for NJ and use the 'bookmark all tabs' option to put them in a folder. Then just go to your bookmarks, find the folder, and click 'open all in tabs.' Not sure if that will work with other browsers, but it might, depending what features they have. If that didn't make sense, I apologize. I seem to be having trouble organizing my thoughts at the moment.
  10. And then type in 'sendrefer' and change the 2 to a 1. Don't forget to change it back when you're done.
  11. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2948026
  12. I'd probably just go with some 16ga or 18ga honestly. I think stock rails are around that thickness, but I don't know for sure. I'm probably not the one to ask either, as I have no experience, but that seems like a good idea to me.
  13. IMO, 1/8" would be a bit over kill, since the rest is still the stock thickness... why do you suggest 1/8"? Also, if it were me, I'd just replace the frame rails entirely with some 10ga square tubing.
  14. haha, that's exactly what I was gonna say.
  15. After looking at his profile, he hasn't been here in almost 9 months.
  16. Really? I can't imagine they're all that much lighter, and my hatch just falls down if I only have one strut in.
  17. I am not positive, but I think they list the original price on autotrader as well.
  18. That's the one I'd have picked, since I've never seen a 2 door Jetta, and I also may be a bit biased as both my parents drive mk2 Jettas. What's scary is my dads Jetta is only a year older, but has a full 400k miles more than yours does. Makes me wonder if the PO ever drove it...
  19. 1 and 2 I like. 5 is so-so, I probably wouldn't buy it. 3 and 4 I don't like. 2 looks like it's an older design, while 1 looks a little more modern IMO. That said, if you want an older look, my vote goes to 2, if you want a more modern look, then my vote goes to 1.
  20. Not sure what they cost currently, but how about a 2004 Acura TL? My friends dad has one. From my limited experience with it, it's a nice car. Nice inside, and has pretty decent power. The reason I suggest a 2004 model, is IIRC the 2004 model has a bit more power than the 2005 model.
  21. Welded some of the bumper trim (or whatever it's called) holes up: Started on the antennae hole patch: Almost finished with the drivers door mirror mounts...I hope: And I got this for my birthday. I love getting new parts. I'll try to get some more done tomorrow in the daylight so if I blow out the garage lights again I won't be traipsing through my overly messy garage in the dark Also, any comments, suggestions, etc. you are free to PM me. I'd appreciate constructive criticism, so that I can try to improve upon whatever needs work.
  22. I got bored yesterday. It's not much progress, but whatever. It's something, which is better than nothing. First, I'll update you guys a little. It is now completely stripped and on a rotisserie, which I have now realized was a rather boneheaded move. It's nice knowing what's hiding underneath though. I'm going to *TRY* to get it assembled into a form that is at least drivable by end of summer, but before reassembly, I need to fix all my rust properly, and figure out how it goes back together, since, very stupidly, I did not take any notes whatsoever while I was taking it apart. Oh well. Lesson learned. I have also learned how NOT to do body work trying to fill in a few holes on my fenders. I think the door went quite a bit better. The antennae hole is up next. Anyway... I was practicing on these pieces of scrap, which accidentally turned into my newest toy/weapon depending what/who I'm throwing it at (joking of course). It actually flies pretty well. Welded up mirror mounting holes, with little/no warping. Yay. (Not finished) That is all for now...
  23. If you are talking about 280z style tail lights, all 260z's had those. The only major differences I know of between early and late 260z's are the bumpers, body indentations for the rear bumper, front turn signals, and maybe the rear shock towers, I don't recall if those changed or not. The tranny tunnel may also have changed, but I'm not sure on that either. I feel like I'm missing a few of the other more obvious things though.
