  1. I finally got around to putting in a fuel pressure gauge on my car because I've been having problems with the car being sluggish under heavy loads. This is a 83 l28et with stock fuel system and new fuel filter. I should be reading around 36psi but I'm only at 29psi. I plan on re-wireing the fuel pump to the alternator with 10ga wire and a relay but will this raise my fuel pressure or could there be a problem with my fuel pressure regulator? I also noticed that my fuel lines coming in and out of the fuel filter was 5/16" and not 3/8" like I thought. I changed the line coming out of the filter to 3/8" but left the feed line at 5/16". Could this change in diameter cause that much of a pressure drop?
  2. I was thinking about going with the same type of setup in the future. I don't even use my knock sensor. You can also use a 2mm head gasket to lower the compression a little bit. Your engine management has to be tuned right though. I may not do it until I'm running haltech or SDS.
  3. Cyrus - check craigslist. There's a few 240s for sale locally.
  4. Is your friend set on doing a V8 conversion or is he still open to which engine he wants to use? $20K opens up a lot of engine options. Shoot me a PM if you want to talk details or need some help. I'm in san jose.
  5. Here are some compressor maps for you to look at http://64.225.76.178/catalog/compmaps/fig6.html
  6. You lucky bastard . Must have sucked pulling it in the sun with all that dust. Sounds like it was worth it though. Can't beat $66 for everything you got. I went to the north san jose pick and pull to check out what they had. No l28et but there is a turbo VG engine there. I may go back later and pull the turbo. I did get myself a Z31 coil.
  7. Turbo magazine is definately different than it was 4 or 5 years ago. I don't even bother to look through it any more. My favorite magazines are Racecar Engineering (more like an engineering journal for motorsports) and some of the aussie mags like Zoom. They show some crazy setups down under and always have a good mix of new cars and old school cars. All kinds of hybrids too.
  8. I'll see you there Davy. Are you taking the Z this time?
  9. John - Do you have any spec on Bosch part number 61 421. It's supposedly off a '86 944 turbo. I'm going to re-wire my fuel pump soon and I'm thinking I should upgrade the pump at the same time. Can't afford a Walbro right now but I found this Bosch unit for a resonable price.
  10. I'll show up of course. I'd like to see some new faces there. Any S30 turbo guys coming out? narcotics...what narcotics? 8)
  11. You need the turbo AFM too. If you still have the dished pistons and N42 head you should be okay for moderate boost levels. I would get an intercooler though. Your compression ratio is slightly higher than a stock ZXT. You could also get a thicker head gasket to lower the CR a little.
  12. What type of head do you have? If your compression ratio is low enough you can just get the turbo ECU and harness, turbo injectors, and FPR.
  13. I have a 83zxt in my 240. I had a problem with the car jerking and hesitating. I just cleaned the AFM connector, TPS, and ECU connectors really good and the problem seemed to go away. It always seems to be something different with different people though so it could be any piece of the ECCS system. I'm running the stock 240 tank and it hasn't been a problem for me.
  14. 968s are sweet. I see a few convertible ones around here sometimes. I've always wanted a 944 turbo myself. I know how you can cut down on those Porsche maitenance costs. Drop a V8 in it
  15. Try pointing the exhaust out in an angle. That should help get the fumes away from the turbulent air in the rear of the car.
  16. Thats pretty cool. I've seen a few cars in japan or australia with brackets for the radio like that on the passenger side.
  17. Jersey - are you saying you went from 10psi on the 2 1/2" exhaust to 18psi with the 3" exhaust without changing the boost setting? Thats a big jump. I guess I need to hurry up and get my 3" exhaust done.
  18. I was able to take a 350Z coupe for a spin yesterday. I was expecting a little more pull off the line. It is what peolple have described as "sneaky fast". Acceleration is smooth and you're going pretty fast before you know it. Built in shift light is nice and the brakes are very good. Suspension is nice and firm for a stock setup. What I took away from the test drive is that although the car was impressive, it could never replace my turbo S30. But as a everyday commuter car it is a fun ride and I give it a thumbs up. Who would take their brand new car through a drive through car wash?
  19. Use the 3.54 or 3.70 LSD for a turbo S30. I went from a 4.11 to a 3.54 and boost buildup is noticably better and freeway passing is effortless. With a lower ratio you may not get full boost between shifts.

You can call Scott Performance. They're on Lafayette St. too. You can also try Don's nissan in campbell.
  21. Welcome to the Z world . You can read up on the history at this site http://www.zhome.com/
  22. Looks good. So the DSM injectors flow 450cc?
  23. They're pretty heavy though. I think at least 3500lbs. Easy prey for a hybrid Z
  24. Congratulations Hopefully your late night trouble shooting sessions are over. Electrical gremlins can drive you crazy. Weird how it was running so good before with it wired wrong.
  25. That is Awesome!!! How much did the intake blanket set you back? G10 spacer between the intake and head will be sweet with all that blanketing.
