  1. so why not do just go ahead and do it. If a rod breaks, it may lead to head damage. if you can avoid it, then why not do it? you spliced 3 heads together, I can't imagine changing a flange or going with different rods being a big deal for you. even if it takes some time to do it, i'd wait it out for safety's sake because you have a prize of an engine there.
  2. regular table bandsaws work ok sometimes too, as long as you make a jig to hold it properly against your fence or with your mitre guage.
  3. lol.. are you sure that was me!? i still have it. just doing some engine stuff outside of the car right now. gotta get a vin number issue resolved. (there were no HL530's as far as i know)
  4. There are nissan patrols in both dubai and japan that have 800hp on L28's
  5. I'm willing to bet it shares a lot with the VQ and it's just a better designed version... If anything it's based of the VQ37HR, with some heavy modifications to the crank case and girdle. either way, it stresses my point even further... it's just a natural progression from whatever they've used in the passed... sorta like how it's supposed to be. LOL
  6. they carry black, as well as automotive black which is entitled "blak cote" and it's 30% thinner, so you need two applications. Raff
  7. that car as well as the 1978 mazda 929 are cars that just scream "we were thinking of this quarter window design, and all of a sudden..." to me. i wonder why.
  8. guys... this car did an unofficial 7.38.52 on the 'ring. its on youtube. i'm not going to link it because i figured you guys would have searched it already if you wanted to really know what the car was capable of. and lets remember that s30's and s130's had inline 6's, and z31's had a v6, did they not? so because a GTR goes from an I6 to a V6, it's taboo?! come on fellas. It's a natural progression. The VQ38HR will be (is?) loads better than the RB26. there isn't a question about it. It's like saying the VQ35 isn't as good as the L engine. as far as I know, L's came in forklifts, patrols, and maximas. And the VQ comes in just about the same amount of other cars. It's what nissan has been waiting/working on to perfect.
  9. there's a buildup of this car on ls1-tech, i think. dude got a 2003 vette or something that was trashed in the rear, and he took the entire drivetrain, engine and just basically everything he needed (had the wreck in his garage), and shoved it into the civic. the engine is so small, it actually fits in there almost as good, if not better than, the i4 that it comes with. atleast that's what it looks like. and to those saying that it's too light for that kinda torque is sorta naive. he's obviously just having too much fun, and I'd bet all my worth that there have beein worse chassis to build on, with less weight, and more power that were driven well and probably won a lot of races both in straight lines or in turns. that thing rocks.
  10. All i have to say about POR is look at the Rust Bullet comparison tests on the RB website. The fellow that sold me the Rust Bullet used to work for POR, too. =)
  11. 2530's will net you anywhere from 320 and up each, so around 600 - 650 hp, 2835's will net you anywhere from 420 and up each, so around 800 - 1000 hp.
  12. I was thinking of installing 6 thermocouples in the runners for my dirty-30, and wrapping the exhaust pipes in some header wrap.
  13. hey man, every time you come on here and read a post until you're pretty sure you understand it, only then have you downloaded every byte of data =)
  14. 5 grand seems pretty good considering what you're getting, but i'd like to know how useful that design is. seems like the only people they have using the thing is tucci engineering, and what exactly has it done for them? or who has won races with their setup is a better question if you're spending that much :-/ seems like it's more for spirited driving in a lead sled.
  15. i thought it was always a lack of air in the last 2 cylinders, getting progressively worse at it goes further back into the intake. That's why jun and greddy have sweeping shapes for their plenums, quite like big ron's intake he made for the blue s30 except with more concave in nature.
  16. damn, i would sell mine, but i paid 220 for it =/ but for me, thats not bad because getting it from US and then paying shipping and customs would have been like 210 bux anyway. now I found out that i MIGHT not need it, cause of my front suspension :-/ 20P00 is what ur after. try your local nissan dealership/parts and force them to purchase it, just put a full down payment on it. they'll do it.
  17. I got an idea. find a wrecked back-halve s2000. 240hp 4 cylinder, no turbos, not overly large. should fit nice =)
  18. sounds like a short to me. check to see that your main power wire is not chaffing on the firewall grommet that MAY be cut at the firewall opening. it should have made a mess of your fuses though. Also, and I can't stress this enough... check your battery or alternator ground. I've had so many ppl come to my house wondering what the cluck is up, and it's just a corroded terminal for the ground wire.
  19. I think i was on takada (sp?) when i saw it, but there seems to be a Nissan VRS Gasket kit that is of Nismo brand for the RB's. Does anyone know what the compressed thickness of the gasket be in them there kits!? I've had some conflicting measurements regarding the Nissan VRS kit itself too... what are the specs if anyone knows? I'm not sure if I should assume this, but being nismo, do you think they've increased the compressed thickness of the gasket to compensate for higher boost pressures to allow compression ratio to come down to a reasonable level? Also, I've found teflon valve seals and some other slippery wearable parts that I might buy in quantity. I have to find out which cars use the same valve seals (looks like most of em do)... that's an easy trip into Nissan FAST... but the seals are from a different car/engine, so hopefully it works out. they're like 10 for 6 bucks or so with integrated band locks to hug the valve, which is an alright deal considering they're usually 6 bucks each =) and the band locks shouldnt impede on the velocity of the valve motion, due to teflon being much less restrictive then conventional rubbers, no? what's everyones take on these?
  20. don't worry about the shifter, you can just put a rip cord in there and tug on it might have trouble selecting gears though.
  21. are those creams usually vitamin E based? Even taking Vitamin E gel caps and squeezing out the liquid will heal scars pretty damn quick, i find.
  22. looks purdy-like love that colour. it's on the new G35's no?
