not to mention that the weight savings of an SR20 and the fact that you could throw it way further back in the engine bay allow the balancing of the car to be more adjustable to your liking. And the SR20 has far more after-market support anywhere in the world than the RB20, it makes more torque and can handle 500+ rwhp on the stock bottom end. For an aluminum 4 cylinder, I'd say that's pretty darn good. SR20's are pretty cheap now anyways. I'm sure buying one would save you money on parts because of the aftermarket... which would leave you with parts for the rest of the car. But since you live down under, i'd consider an RB30DET using an RB25 head. Find a blown RB25 that had a rod thrown or something, and grab it for low cost, and get everything you can off it. After all is said and done and you're at the cost of your RB25, you will have a torque monster capable of quite a bit more power/torque than an RB26 at lower RPM, which is alway good. RB30 blocks cost us about 1000 here, and cost you guys about 100 there. If the crank is in good order, you just saved yourself about 1400 bucks. you can use the stock RB25 pistons, or some ACL Race version ones. Use some Spool rods for about 800 bucks, some ACL or King bearings for about 200 a set, and some fine machining and balancing and just other regular maintenance items that you SHOULD be replacing after any swap anyways, and you got yourself a bigger, badder RB engine for about the same price as the RB26 engine alone, not including any work to get it in. well why not get the motor and the transmission you need, since they're not that expensive, and then try and see what works. I've seen conversions for later to earlier conversions that seem to work, so i think you'll get somewhere if you get the two in hand and try it out. either way, if it's not the power, then why is the clutch type an obstacle?

Again gents, this hybridz member is not a member of my family, I just know him through this site, and just missed him at a Z meet in Ontario. But I'm sure the replies mean the same thing when addressed to him. Thanks, everyone

johnc, This is a proper thread for sending my condolences out to you and your family for the loss of your brother last week as well. sorry to hear.

You can use an N/A Z32 clutch casing and friction plate on an RB25 and 26 flywheel, as it will bolt in, so my guess is that the same clutch casings that work on the 26 will work on the 25. But get a 25 one cause you have a 25 transmission. Atleast that's what I would do if you were in a serious crunch. or else, try and do some google searches, you'll find it on nico.com, freshalloy.com, or zilvia.net or something, im sure!

I forgot to mention that the other problem is that it can't be brought anywhere because it's unfit for road. ♥♥♥♥ ,this is gonna be a lot of work ahead of me, i just know it. UGHHHHHHHH, time to start a paper trail.

well that's what I want to avoid, ron. imagine putting all that money and blood, sweat, tears into fixing her up, and then they take her away 280ZForce, I know it's just a type, very obvious. but the ministry rep said "we can't change that, we don't do that stuff, go to the dealership" and the people in quebec's ministry office said they don't do it either, and that's where the typo was made. I know this is gonna be a long road again. Getting the ownership took me exactly 365 days to find and recover possession of.

Ladies and Gents. I regret to have to hear of these things, but a member of our forum has suffered the loss of his dear father earlier today. I had a brief conversation with him and found out his week ended in a not-so-well way. Out of respect for his privacy, I'm not going to mention who it is. He's a well known and active member. I just wanted to post it here to show our support in his time of need because we're such a good network of genuine people here, some of whom have experienced the same things many times over, and one could use something to lift their spirits after unfortunate events such as this. I know it sounds weird supporting someone you barely know online, and now someone you can't put a screen-name to even more weird, but i felt it necessary since I've had the pleasure of conversing with him many times (and almost meeting with him at the Whitehead Performance meet), and have grown fond of his willingness to be a help to our Z community. I'm here for ya, buddy!

the first owner died and the car sat for roughly 16 years or so... perhaps even more. When the car gets inspected for safety upon it's maiden voyage, it has to be towed to the ministry inspection station, where they will notice the vin indifference. I'm concerned.

The best tool is an input shaft from the transmission its supposed to be bolted to. You could just use an alignment tool, though.

WOW. i've never seen that! it spreads thin layers of powder that's lowered on the build side at a hair's width and builds upwards. THATS COOL!

Hi gents. the vin number on my z (registered in Quebec, then Ontario) starts with an HL530 on the ownership, but the numbers are obviously an HLS30xxxxxx is this going to be a problem? i registered it, and brought it up at the ministry at the time of transfer, and she said i have to talk to the "dealership" about it. RIIIIIIIIIIGHT. its a friggen 76. what should I do?

also one of the names of their albums and tours, no?

purchase booztd3's os giken setup that he's selling only because his sponsor has provided him with another clutch. it still has most of its life left into it, and survived many 700 rwhp launches. none of which slipped, and the clutch was never the weakest link, causing various other things to go bonkers because it held up so well. he's dropped the price considerably, and the unit is 2000 new, so give him a holler, or look for the thread, it was semi-recent.

saw those.... looks really good too, and they have a VL that runs on them at the bottom of the page BUT im ordering my romac balancer tomorrow. There are some high horsepower mustangs in some racing series that have used the romac balancers with no harmonic issues and they outlast the seasonal engine changes. Ordering mine from VPW in australia, along with my main studs. should come out to about 500 shipped Just waiting for the canadian dollar to kick the US dollar's ass at the end of the week. I'm hoping for par, if anything, but the news has been saying 1.06 US dollars per.

LOL. that thing just sneezed on the dyno and laid down 400 rwhp. Bet you could get double that with a full out belch! Awesome stuff man.

Would you like me to order an oil pump pick up from my dealership for you? It costs 30 bucks at a local Nissan dealership. If you supply the part-numbers, you can get it from Nissan if you push them. As for autozone stuff, a lot of Z32 parts work on RB engines, and so do other parts as well, you just need to know the ones that work, and ones that dont. And if the next thing anyone mentions is the option of going to autozone if something breaks down, well... if your oil-pickup happens to break, you may soon have bigger problems than what auto-zone can help you with. Adding to that, It only takes 10 - 20 days for nissan parts to come in, sometimes less. That's not that bad.

sounds like an RB20! -
Yes this works. I can also scan a page in a book that my dad has from the 80's that uses the same method to calculate RPM, and you can turn it into a useable signal for a 20 LED Tachometer or Speedo too =). Would you like me to scan it this weekend?

I believe enjuku racing got 547 rwhp on their stock bottom end SR20. Either way, i wont be making enough power to mash a SR20 6speed box. and now I wont be using one
