  1. FIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINE... you asked for it. these were taken and only colour corrected and noise-reduced. I have to turn the D-Lighting feature and Auto-ISO off to get some good images, but then again... that requires use of a tripod. Still trying to get used to this thing. Hey ron, she single? a bit of an aberration on this image near the top right. in need of a polarized filter. More to come when I get to use it a bit more!!!!
  2. lol i hope i get lucky and get a case. i ordered abrasive blasting gloves from them for 2.88 and I got 64 pairs of them. yes. 64 pairs of heavy rubber gloves. the box must have been like 50lbs. It sorta makes me wonder who was doing the weigh-in for shipping costs.
  3. one could order a set of magnetic filter clamps, a magnafilter threaded sandwich plate, a magnetic drain plug, and a bunch of well placed/epoxied pan magnets rather than just do one.
  4. stony, no doubt in my mind you got 8's left in that car, but if you feel safer in the red car when it's ready to go i'd rather have you alive to post about it
  5. if it's 7000 including delivery, that's a heck of a good price for all those parts!
  6. Some of the McKinney folk are residents on the forum, and can happily say that a couple of customers from this forum have been satisfied with their products.
  7. If I were thinking in terms of personal opinion in your shoes, I'd ask myself which engine I would go with as a final choice. If you pick the VQ, is it because you don't know enough about the Buick V6 or is it because you know enough to sway you away from an engine directly from that lineage. Sounds like you did your research, but what is throwing you in one direction as opposed to the other, and are you dead sure about what you're using as key points to contribute to either choice? Maybe someone can help toss in a bit more key points.
  8. the rubber isolators have a nipple, quite like all newer nissan engines. It's a locator that slips into the locator hole on the mounting surface. it's not uncommon to drill a new one if you need to. it's been done on a couple of other weird swaps. this should be posted in the RB forum though. also. I think the RB30 engine mounts are pretty solid too. I mean... Instead of making my own I would totally consider these with some modifications as a first option... However I'm not too sure of the height that the engine would sit at, and an RB30 isn't a shorty, that's for sure!
  9. just a note, my flywheel was machined as well and the previous owner said that ever since the clutch was done it felt funny going into gear. I later read on some published repair info that VG30 flywheels aren't supposed to be machined that much for whatever reason. (can't recall). but I've been told otherwise by VG Owners. My car had trouble going into reverse sometimes, and I could not get it into gear without grinding. I adjusted the pedal rod and bled the system, and I had the fork moving so much that the throw-out bearing collar would rub on the pressure plate fingers. it's my suspicion that it was related to the flywheel, which looked to have hairline cracks and heatwear marks. I've yet to install my Fidanza unit and stainless line to replace everything because I can't get a broken manifold stud out of the head. another thing to note is that while you can have a friend press the clutch pedal and experience full pedal depression and slave-piston expansion, you may be experiencing the opposite under load, with the input shaft spinning it may be binding on the collar or the slave may not be functioning properly. I also noticed my pilot bushing had a weird grind mark on it. perhaps from install or maybe they could not fully remove the one that was in there at the time.
  10. as said in the TV ad, use it once and it pays for itself. I used it more than 5 times and it works.
  11. do u have a long extension to go with that magnet? or are you just trying to just shove one in there wrapped in tape on a coat hanger?
  12. Use IE-Tab Fire-fox plugin to right click on links and "Open in IE-Tab".
  13. I have RB engine mounts, I think they would work in the S30 with a bit of work too and they're quite solid.
  14. As long as the slave isnt leaking at the piston, then pushing it back with your finger is ok. Mine does not leak, and extends the fork fully. If I squeeze the piston pin and body together with my hand, it will work it's way back slowly (and with a bit of pain to my thumb, due to the piston pin being small).
  15. lol i said the same thing in my post with stony's pic, but i edited to delete it cause i found that the only pics of GREX units looked quite different. perhaps it's an old GREX unit of some sort
  16. just noticed... stony has the same one.
  17. Sorry, I cannot tell you who makes that. there are some on eBay that use a Toyota 3TC or 4AGZE filter. However, I think some of our members have drilled a small hole and tapped various similar billet units (that looks cast) to fit the proper sized NPT threaded sensor.
  18. 05/87+ Z cars are FS5R30A transmissions. all relatively identical to RB25 transmission, save for a few different lengths of the input shaft and different gear ratios. All will receive any bell-housing with the proper interior plate seal from what I've learned here. It's all starting to make my Z31 feel like a better RB30DE candidate.
  19. couldn't tell. i know it's black widow that u posted, but i used my propane torch right quick a brown recluse is a little diff. if you get stung by one, if you recover, your muscles will be considered "wastage" and become soggy mucous membranes that do not support whatever bone they are supposed to. a black widow will just turn ya into an ironing board.
  20. amazing stuff Stony. your hard work and dedication through the stages of this engine/car have led you to a great new beginning
  21. R2'ing = Removing and Replacing? checkin out your vids now
  22. I was just going to mention that .015 sounds pretty dangerous with something that is "springy", but Phred said it better.
  23. midnight could'a came a couple of hours sooner for you man! I had similar spiders in the same neck of the woods. I actually found a Brown Recluse (Hobo Spider) at Shannonville Raceway, hangin' out at the window with venom dripping from it's fangs.
  24. let me know when you're ready. I'll grab 2.
  25. NAPA Gold 1361's are what I use as well... They're made in canada too There are a couple more independent oil filter manufacturers, but Champion Labs (not the same as Champion for ignition components) is who makes Fram and a handful of other POS filters.
